Kendra Elliot has a way with words, characters, stressful situations, and just a plethora of other tools to write her novels to perfection. I really enjoyed the situation of Bone Deep and love how the tense situations made the reader want more. I will definitely go back and read this series from the beginning. This is good suspense here, that's for sure.

Such a quick, intriguing read!! I won’t say this story is going to change everything for you, but it was spooky and entertaining. I really enjoyed the characters. I haven’t read anything else in this series and wish I had because there are some things that were probably given away in this one (not intentionally) that I would have loved to read about for myself. If you’re looking for a quick palette cleanser between a ton of super spooky books or to break up your romances, this is a great and easy mystery read!

The widow’s island series is a perfect collaboration from two great thriller authors.

Last week, Bone Deep was released and I couldn’t put it down.

As usual, a shorter type of story that packs lots of suspenseful moments and twisted turns at every corner.

When her fiancé is kidnapped. He must try to save one of the trio brothers that are terrorising the community with their robbery. Cate has to join forces with the local sheriff and do her best to save him.

I found the story so intriguing and the way Henry had to use his skills as a doctor was interesting to read.

I’m really hoping that these books, while each one is a standalone, will make their ways on the screen because each one is worth the hype.

🆓📖Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy through NetGalley

An explosive, gripping nail-biting start, the excitement meter was pinging off the chart, and the intrigue level was engagingly captivating. Henry's life was hanging in the balance, and Cate was in a quandary because they were running out of time.
She was helpless, her fiancee's life was hanging in the balance on a short string, and things weren’t looking good for him. This book was electrifyingly exciting and had me gripped by its intensely gripping spell-binding pages.

This is #9 in the Widow's Island series, written by Kendra Elliot and Melissa Leigh. Each book can be read as a stand alone, they may feature familiar characters but the stories are unique to each book. Both authors are very skilled mystery writers who keep readers engrossed in the story from the start. One of the best things about dual authors is you do not have to wait so long between books.
Full of suspense, lots of clues(that I usually miss), and great character developement made this a one sitting book for me. Kendra Elliot has an extensive back library and I have read the majority of them. They are all excellent reads.

This is the ninth novella in the series by Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. Each author takes turns writing the novels and the stories intertwine. What I really enjoy about these novellas is that the authors provide a quick recap to catch the reader up without overburdening the storyline. The story begins with former FBI Agent Cate Wilde's fiancé Dr Harry Powers being kidnapped. Cate must join forces with the local sheriff and the FBI to find him and bring him home. Cate soon learns that a trio of bankrobbing brothers kidnapped Harry in the hope that he could save one of the gravely injured brothers. Henry is placed in an impossible situation of trying to save a dying man without any medical equipment and Cate must try to find him before Widow's Island lives up to its name. These novellas are fast paced and full of action and do not skimp on storyline. A fast and entertaining read. Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley and the authors for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot don't let you down, there books are always well written and easy to read. I like the fact that they are often set in a small community so you know who you are reading about and as long as you read them in order you can follow what is going on. I suppose now that there and 10 books in this series they may be thinking of starting a new series - I will read all of those too.

Thank you NetGalley and Kendra Elliott for the chance to enjoy a ninth trip to Widow’s Island.

Somehow I read book number ten before this, but that didn’t lessen my enjoyment of either one. I love these characters; Henry and Cate, Logan and Tessa and assorted supporters. Small communities, such as Widow’s Island are full of mystery, intrigue and community spirit. As always that was the case when two back robber brother take Henry hostage to treat a third brother’s gunshot. In a remote, unpopulated island Henry dies his best, but wonders if he’ll make it back to Cate. Cate is trying just as hard to locate him.

A short read this was worth my time. Good work again, Kendra Elliott

These are novellas are a great read when you are in the mood for something short and snappy with great characters and an idyllic setting.
This time the islands doctor Henry Powers has been kidnapped and is being held somewhere, but when your girlfriend is ex FBI agent Cate Wilde you know you’ve got the best team on your side. A great little read.

Returning to Widow’s Island, Bone Deep, the ninth of the series, finds Henry taken from his clinic at the point of a gun by two desperate men and threatened with his life if he doesn’t save their gunshot partner.

Cate Wilde thought her years of intense, heart-pounding FBI work would be over when she bought the bakery back home on Widow’s Island and became engaged to wonderful doctor, Henry Powers, who also sought escape from the trauma of a big city hospital emergency room. But, now she is faced with losing Henry on the eve of their wedding and she joins the desperate hunt to get him back before it is too late.

Bone Deep leaped into action from page one and didn’t stop until that sweet and tender ending full of swoons and sighs. I loved the surprise at the start and how the author kept up the pace and suspense through the end and I’ve long been in love with the characters and setting. More please, more!

This review was originally posted on Books of My Heart

Review copy was received from NetGalley, Publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

The Widow's Island series is written alternately by Kendra Eliot and Melinda Leigh. Each book in the series are short, novella length. I would read them in order due to the personal relationships.

In previous books, Cate is an FBI agent who is injured and comes back to the island to stay with her grandma while she recuperates. While she is there, she gets involved with a new case on the island. She is on leave but decides to stay on the island to run the bakery / bookshop with her grandma and her new boyfriend, the island doctor.

Cate is settling into her new life, working with her grandma and planning for her wedding. Henry is at his medical practice and is abducted by criminals to help one of them who was shot. Cate and her friend, Tessa who is the local sheriff get right to work figuring out who took him. They learn enough to get Cate's old group at the FBI interested.

Bone Deep is harrowing because these guys have killed and are fine with killing again. Henry does his best to save the man in an unrealistic situation without the right equipment or supplies. He cares but knows it is only a matter of time.

It's exciting, fast-paced and there are plenty of little twists. I would say the blurb is a bit of a spoiler. I enjoyed it and am on to the next in the series.
