I love that even from the very beginning of the book, the story was fast paced and ready to go. I thought that Cate and Henry were a fantastic romantic duo, and this book managed to make me smile by the end which is always a plus.

Elliot is a favorite author and can do no wrong, in my opinion, and she definitely doesn’t disappoint. Her characters are complex and compelling and even though the plot was dire I loved catching back up with Cate & Henry. So if you’re looking for a non-stop action-packed book series that feels like you’re watching your mystery/police procedural show, then run don’t walk and pick up the Widow’s Island novella series. I would strongly suggest reading the books in order, as they follow the same characters and you’ll miss a lot of the back story if you don’t start at the beginning. No book is longer than 90 pages so this is a great series to binge. Elliot writes this series with Melinda Leigh. Elliot’s books are 1, 4, 5, 8 & 9 and follow former FBI agent Cate Wilde. Leigh’s books are 2, 3, 6, 7 & 10 and follow Deputy Tessa Black. These stories somewhat overlap as they take place in the same location and are inhabited by the same characters but each author focuses their stories on their specific MC. This is the ninth book in the Widow's Island novella series, to start at the beginning check out Close to the Bone by Kendra Elliot, book one.

This is a great story about a small town doctor, Henry, that is taken from his office a gun point to go care for someone who has been shot. Cate using her prior FBI contacts to help find Henry. Will Cate be able to find Henry? Will Henry be able to save the shot man?
Thank you to Netgalley for complimentary copy. Very likable characters in this book series.

I really prefer a book and not a novella. Honestly by the time I got this one I had kind of forgot what the others were about. It would be better if you wait to read them until they all come out. But not considering that it is fast paced book full of suspense.

As this is a novella I suggest you read the previous 8 books in the series to have a fuller understanding of the characters and the setting of Widow’s Island.
In ‘Bone Deep’ Dr. Henry Powers, the only doctor on Widow’s Island is kidnapped from his office by two men who hope his medical knowledge will save their friends life. His fiancé, former FBI agent turned bakery owner Cate Wilde isn’t going to let a little thing like no longer holding a badge stop her from partaking in the search for Henry. Cate makes sure she is in the thick of the joint FBI Sheriffs Office investigation. There she learns that Henry has been kidnapped by a violent group of bank robbing brothers. When ahenry comes to the same conclusion about the men, he realises he must rely on his own wits to survive until Cate can find him and rescue him.
I really like the Widow’s Island novellas. They are a good, quick romantic suspense light book. Perfect for an afternoon read. 3.5 stars from me.

The ninth book in the series was a good read like the others. Henry is kidnapped by the bank robbers and Cate has to find him before it's too late. It was a quick and gripping read. I'm little sad that the series is coming to an end. I'm looking forward to the last Tessa book.

with reports coming in that bank robbers had killed several people could these two men be responsible for kidnapping dr henry

with limited resources the hunt is on...

never a big fan of short stories but these novellas are something else...action adventure and tension all rolled into this pint size story

cant wait for the next one

Bone Deep is the ninth book in the Widow's Island series by Kendra Elliot. This crime drama can easily be read as a standalone book.

I loved how fast paced this book is! I read it in one sitting and could not put it down! The characters are great, so likable and interesting, and the people in the island town are fascinating. I loved that small town feeling. The story was incredible! I loved trying to solve the mystery! The suspense was awesome!!!

I'm going to miss this series. Deep Bone by Kendra Elliot and The Wrong Bones by Melinda Leigh are the two closing books of the Widow's Island series. It's worth reading all previous books because they are short and will give you the whole picture of this island community.

Bone deep is a great wrap-up of the relationship of Cate and Henry, and it is as fast-paced and action-packed as each novella before. Henry is kidnapped, so get ready for the usual tension and adrenalin rush. Now, quick, give me the last book!

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for an Advance Review Copy.

Cate Wilde may have retired from the FBI but she’s still constantly pulled back into their cases. Naturally when her doctor fiancé is kidnapped by what later is revealed to be a group of bank robbers not affairs to kill she’s not going to sit this one out. Henry has been taken to help a member of the robbery crew who was injured but without a hospital he knows the man will die. Which makes things difficult when the guy in charge informs him that of the patient dies he will too. It’s only a matter of time as his pleas to get the man to a hospital fall on deaf ears. And as Cate aids the search with local law enforcement and a team sent out by the FBI.

It’s always interesting to come back and see who is being murdered on Widow’s Island this time. For such a small place people seem to get murdered there or nearby fairly often. Technically this one is a crime taking place on the island not a murder but still so much crime in such a small town. The series is all novellas so it’s short and filled with drama and mild tension not a bad way to spend a bit of time. It’s simply easy and pretty predictable but not a bad read.

Bone Deep is the 9th in the Widow’s Island series. If you have not read any of the other books, this book is very enjoy. Kendra Elliot is very good at writing a series that is enjoyable as a stand-alone or read book to book. If you love the series ( like I do), this 9th book does not disappoint. You get suspense, the FBI, friends, family, and a happy ending.

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for this eARC. #Netgalley #BoneDeep #KendraElliot

I'm usually not a fan of novellas as they are over way to fast and can seem rushed, but I love this series!!

Another case in the books! Bank Robbery, kidnapping, a few murders, and in the end, KARMA!

I know the series has to end eventually; I just hope it's not right away!!

I love this series. Kendra and Melinda’s writing works so well together. There are so many lovable characters and the scene is set so beautifully. Even though it’s a short story the tension and suspense are still there. I was hooked the whole time. It’s the perfect quick read for crime lovers.

3.5-4 stars
The ninth book in the Widow’s Island series was a fast read, easy to visualize, and kept me intrigued. This is a new author for me, and I jumped into the series without prior knowledge of any of the other books. Even though I knew I was missing pieces due to characters already being in a relationship, I didn’t feel lost and feel this is a great stand-alone book.
Cate and Henry reside in a small town. Henry being the local doc, and Cate recently retiring from the FBI, and now owns the local bakery. Their lives are turned upside down, when Henry is missing. The story revolves around his kidnapping, what lead up to this point, and ultimately his rescue. Packed with suspense and easy to follow. I wished it had a bit more teeth/depth to it but overall enjoyed the read.

I'm sad that the Widow's Island series is almost at its conclusion. I've loved the stories written alternately by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot. They would make an excellent TV series (hint hint to any TV people out there!

This time around we are back with Cate, former FBI agent and now a baker and bookstore owner. She loves her new life on Widow's island and has her wedding to the town's doctor, Henry to look forward to. But her former skills are going to be needed once more when Henry is kidnapped from his surgery!

Henry is not an action herp but he holds his own when he is abducted by two men to treat another's gunshot wound. He knows from the details he has been given that the patient won't make it without a hospital but they refuse to take him to one. Now he'll have to rely on his wits and medical training to keep his patient and himself alive until Cate and the Cavalry can get there.

The authors are great at interspersing past details in the series into the current book. You don't feel bogged down in fodder if you have read the other books but there is enough that if you have missed one or this is your first read in the series you can understand where you are.

Well plotted and freat paced, it takes place over only a few days. There is no spice in these stories as such but the romance is still there and I loved the total belief in the other that Henry and Cate have. The other characters; Tessa, Logan, Patience, Jane, etc all make a small appearance and help to tie the stories together.

I read an advance reader copy of this book via Netgalley and all thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
