I found parts of the book interesting, helpful and definitely insightful but other parts were just.... yeah it was a little hit and miss for me but overall a good book. We recently purchased our home and while I'm not aiming for "dream home" I definitely want to make it more of "our home" and definitely on a budget. This book could be helpful to those looking for ideas and ways to work on their home while on a budget. If anything, it helps give a few ideas.

Start here if you are doing any kind of home renovation! The Jett's have created a one stop guide to every step of the renovation process whether you do it yourself or bring in an outside company. The beginning of the book walks you through the planning, budgeting, and organizational phase of any project, there is even a very useful list of the tools they used! The second half of this book is chock full of visual inspiration room by room. Every image is stunning and feels homey. I will definitely be using what I learned from this book to turn my first house into our dream home. A well deserved five star read!

This is a great book with some really great pictures in it! I do think building a house is harder than this book makes it out to be, but there are great ideas in here, nonetheless.

This book was one I really wanted and was lucky enough for netgalley to provide an arc. It was interesting from the first to last page, despite being longer. It never felt like a task. The tips were useful and creative and so many great ideas I would use

This is a lovely book, the transformation along the way is beautiful, but this book is not about only pretty rooms, it is about managing a project, including design, finance, style, handling the workload and creating a beautiful home step by step. Create Your Own Dream Home on a Budget provides a good introduction to building your own house. Such a task is not an easy one and requires plenty of research and planning. I thought this book provides a pretty good preview, and is loaded with tips and tricks learned from the authors' own experience. Of course, many other additional resources would be needed for someone who is serious about building their own home, but this book serves as a nice preview. While an intimidating task to most, the authors provide a very down-to-earth perspective with budget in mind. This book also provides some design inspiration to readers and would make a good coffee table book.

This book is an amazing resource for anyone who owns their own home and is interested in a little DIY improvement. The suggestions are practical and the beautiful photographs make the projects feel both inspirational and achievable.

For a new home buyer or a DIYer this is a great book. The Project sections are REALLY helpful. The book is set up in a very approachable manner. The pictures are fantastic. The instruction are pretty easy to follow. Especially if you are upgrading a home, this is a great book to have.

My goal in life is to love my home. We bought it about six years ago, when my son was a baby and we just haven't had the budget to do much, and honestly, it's just hard to keep a house clean when your son is into crafting and keeps everything and your husband hates to clean, and, let's be honest, you yourself love to organize but also hate to clean. My dream is to have a home that's full of lovingly curated pieces that I adore, to walk in and breathe a sigh of relief because I have created a space that I absolutely love. Unfortunately, right now, I walk into a house filled with papers from the 100 drawings my son has done that day, coats thrown on the furniture, a barking dog, and a cat that wants her food RIGHT NOW. But someday...someday I'll have what I want and in the meantime, I read books like this and I make notes and I do small steps, like hanging new curtains, pulling out old anchors and screws the previous owners left and spackle and paint - just tiny things but they make me feel better. Now if only I could get rid of some of the books on these crowded bookshelves....

If you’re building your home from scratch or undertaking a big renovation project, this book is for you. There’s a wealth of useful information such as standard measurements and budgetting, and lots of great projects for anyone who has basic DIY skills (ie not me!). The photos really did show a “dream house”.
This isn’t really aimed at people who just want to slap a bit of paint up and install an off-the-peg bathroom suite. It’s bespoke and aspirational but it does make me relieved that I’ve found a house that doesn’t need all that. However, for those who’re excited by DIY, this book is ideal.

Wonderful book about creating your dream home in an affordable manner! I found the combination of great photos (HGTV worthy pics!) and practical suggestions so helpful and inspiring. I would recommend this book for anyone looking to do some home renovations or projects without spending a fortune!

This is a lovely little resource for folks who want to make their house into a home, but don't know where to start. The process of buying a home is overwhelming enough, but add on the challenges that can come with owning a house and making it feel like your home? That's a whole separate ball game. If, like me, you feel overwhelmed by the concept of even starting to make changes in your home, this is a great tool to start with.

This was such an interesting read! I really enjoyed reading through this book and I can't wait to try some of what I read. Great book!

This is a gorgeous book. However, there are no earth-shattering tips for how to create your dream house on a budget, unless you've never heard of estate sales and Facebook marketplace. It also helps to have a huge social media following, so sponsorships will come your way. There is some very good practical advice (recommended sizes of lighting fixtures, e.g.) and easy-to-follow instructions for DIY projects. If you love HGTV, you'll love this book. I'm a little meh, but I can be cranky sometimes. #CreateYourDreamHomeonaBudget #NetGalley

Are you looking for a book to help you create the things in your head to make your home a better place? This book gives you practical advice and help to get your dreams out of your head and into your home.

This is right up my alley. I love books like this, and it helps that we literally just went through this process. Honestly, I wish the book would have come out a year earlier. But the advice was incredibly helpful and the pictures were beautiful. It makes building your dream home seem doable and not so overwhelming.

Immersive to the senses - not only is this book so aesthetically pleasing inside and out that I want it to be my coffee table book but it also provides practical ways to elevate my home into my dream home (without the hefty price tag). Truly a masterpiece!
