The perfect Thrilling YA. The tension throughout this books was on point. I loved the illegitimate daughter and the hidden villain. This book was well thought out and reminded me a lot of Holly Jackson's Good Girl's Guide to Murder, but also Keira Cass's Selection Series. It is the perfect mix.
My only negative thought is I worry about the content with this book geared towards YA readers. And maybe this is something I need to readjust my thinking on.
Kids are impressionable and sensitive content, such as a rape scene, can be a cause for concern. I love that authors are bringing about a new era and new thinking, but I worry about the kids that will read this book.
That is my only draw back. Outside of that the book was respectful, didn't go into huge detail of the incident, and it was more like a close call then it actually happened.
Regardless, Royal Blood by Aimée Carter is a 5 Star read for me. It hit all the great plot points and held my attention. I cannot wait to share this book with my followers. I hope this review helps!

I was looking forward to this engaging story about an illigetimate daughter to the royal family. In the end, I think I'm too old for this book. Evan was whiny and very much aware of the consewuences of her actions, but it never stopped her from making bad choices. She was whip smart and written well, but the plot just didn't hit well for me. I had a hard time grasping this world and seeing these characters as people.

(ARC received from NetGalley) YA’LL this was so JUICY!!!! Evan is the illegitimate daughter of the King and has kept the secret all her life. She’s a rebel with a cause, but only weeks before her 18th birthday, she finally goes too far. Actions have severe consequences and she gets shipped off to the royal palace to meet her father and his family for the first time. A rocky start becomes catastrophic when Evan gets caught up in the death of the son of a huge tabloid (The Sun). This story was fast paced, heartwarming, heartbreaking and tackled some difficult topics including SA, how mental illness is misrepresented and how the press can spread very harmful rumors. I’m frothing at the mouth for book 2!

I’d recommend to anyone that’s a fan of reality TV, tabloid news, The Royals (the show on E! not the literal royal family of the UK), and “I’d Tell You I Love You, but Then I’d Have to K*ll You” series by Ally Carter.

I’m a huge fan of this authors previous books so I was super excited to get my hands on this one. Holy scandals, Abound! This book brings on twists and turns of the royal variety. It gives you all that guiltily gossip feeling with none of the guilt. I liked the parallels between this version of the British Monarchy and actual history . This was a fun read that definitely kept me reading in one sitting.

The mysery went in a direction that i was not expecting and i am so excited for more books in this series. if you loved american royal but wanted mroe murder, check it out!! Royal Blood by Aimee Carter is a fresh YA novel that revolves around a reluctant illegitimate daughter of the British King. This was billed as a mystery, but the mystery took a backseat to the main story and the struggles that the main character, Evan, had to deal with as she is whisked away to England to meet her family. Carter didn't stray away from having Evan deal with some serious issues, but I was looking for more lighter fare or a something similar to Truly Devious.. YA fans will love this story though and its a fresh take on the princess genre. I hope in future novels that the mystery is more prominent if the author is aiming for a mystery series with a side of royal family.

So at first Evan really irritated me since she is pretty much cutting off her nose to spite her face since she keeps getting herself kicked out of boarding schools in the mistaken belief that she will get sent back to live with her mom when no other school will take her. It doesn’t work and she ends up in London to live with her dad and his family for first time who is the King of England. It was a nasty shock for everyone since no one knew she was coming and since she is illegitimate and the same age as his only legitimate daughter Mary heir to the throne, it will be a scandal once she is found out. Which of course she is and her life as she knows it is changed forever. Once I got passed the beginning her character grew on me and you start to understood why she gets getting in her own way and being stubborn about what they want her to do. Her and her half sister Mary start getting along and she learns more about the relationship between her parents and it wasn’t how she thought. There is a little romance and the bad guy was definitely not on my radar. It was left a little open ended for a sequel since this is the start of a series. Really great and if you like modern royal teen intrigue you will like this book.

I absolutely Loved this book!! The characters were very interesting and relatable. I really loved how the author kept the story moving without it slowing down and getting boring. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends and family.

Why have I not heard more about this book?? It was spectacular! If I had the time to complete this in one sitting, trust me, I would have! This was absolute perfection and had me hooked from start to finish, there truly wasn’t a single dull moment in this book. I will be recommending this to everyone forever. Wow. I need more.

The characters were lovable (and hate-able when needed), and literally every single page had me hooked and needing more. Carter is now an auto-buy author for me and I need the rest of this series NOW!

I loved the secrets that were slowly unravelled in this book that completely changed the context of the past.

Evan is a complex, eventually likable character and I had a lot of fun with this one.

I really enjoyed this one. It reminded me a little bit of what a girl wants. I loved the whole did she murder the person vibe of this book. I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened. I also think this is a very easy fast paced read. I do think I will read more by this author.

I love a modern royalty plot, so Royal Blood did not disappoint. The drama and twists kept me interested, and I know teens will enjoy it.

This book gave this 90s kid Princess Diaries vibes. So at least from my point of view as a reader. It's a more edger Princess Diaries for a new generation of readers.

Evan has just been expelled from her 9th boarding school when she is whisked away to finally meet her father, the King of England. (It's an alternative royal family, but the rest of the story rings true.) She's been officially in his custody for the past 6 years since her grandmother died and he's kept her in boarding schools and summer camps in the US the whole time. She is the exact same age as Princess Mary, his daughter with the queen, and Evan has been hidden this whole time. As soon as she arrives at the palace, though, the secrets begin to leak. The illegitimate daughter of the king is some juicy royal gossip, made even juicier when one of Princess's friends dies mysteriously and Evan is implicated in the murder. Evan must work quickly to figure out who she can really trust and what stories about her life are true. Highly recommended for grades 8 & up.

I love mysteries and royals and secrets, so this book hit about every need I had when reading. I love how the book progresses until the very end and literally had me at the edge of my seat. It’s a must-read.

I liked Evan as a character. I thought she was relatable. I did think a lot of the mystery of the book was easy to see coming, but I enjoyed the story so much that I didn't care. This was just a good, fun read that is thoroughly enjoyable!

I loved this book! I finished in 24 hours because I could not put it down! I felt for Evan and all she had to go through over the course of the story. The side characters were fun although half sister Mary irritated me on how she made Evan to be this manipulative villain when she gave no indication that was her at all. Lots of family secrets that frankly were pretty up there with having an illegitimate love child, but hey the people love their hypocrisy! I love the mystery of who was leaking the stories along with what actually happened with a murder, they did a great job of leaving you wondering until the end and the way they wrapped it, it's obvious that there will be a sequel (which I'm excited about) there was definitely a few secrets left and I have my theories on at least one of them. One additional thing I enjoyed was the slight change in the history of the english monarchy; it made it into an alternate universe where Queen Elizabeth's father didn't inherit the throne, but his older brother did his duty instead of running off with his love so things were relatively the same and yet different. Highly recommend reading this great story and I can't wait to see what happens next!

This book reads like a Netflix teen movie from 2011, and not in a "so bad, it's fun” way. A barely feasible grasp on British culture. Half-developed characters. Charmless banter. It's all here, folks.

This was a unique story about a commoners experience in the British Royal family. Even though the characters are different, I think many of the experiences can be related to the current British Royals. I thought it was a good story and plot with many twists and turns that will keep readers engaged.
