Having a friend who doesn't drink and not being a big drinker myself, being able to still make cute drinks is fun! This book starts with all the basics - equipment, techniques, terms etc - that one would need to be a proper nonalcoholic drink mixer.

For the most part the drink recipes were easy and doable. There are a number of recipes I would like to try, though there was a TON of recipes with eggs, which is not my thing. I did find that towards the end, in the "Unusual Mixers" section, they basically just seemed like smoothies. Also in the dessert drinks, they didn't seem like "mocktails" but just regular drinks that wouldn't NORMALLY have booze.

All in all, the drinks looked good, seem easy enough to make, and there's sure to be something in there for anyone to try.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this great reference. I will probably purchase a copy when it's available.

While I enjoy alcohol, there are times when one doesn't want to drink. This book is extremely comprehensive and a veritable encyclopedia of non-alcoholic cocktail options--some extremely inventive and complex, some simpler and more traditional. As noted in other reviews, it's true that some of the recipes require non-alcoholic spirits and potentially hard-to-find ingredients, but the vast majority of them do not. (Also, many non-alcoholic spirits are available to order online, if one doesn't have a liquor superstore like Total Wine nearby.)

The photography of the drinks is gorgeous, and the recipes are easy to understand and well written. This is a fantastic reference.

New Mocktails Bible has a lot of recipes. A lot but this book felt flat, not polished. The photos were lackluster and made it feel like this was a substandard book when the title has "bible" in it.

A pass for me.

I would like to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I was interested in reading New Mocktails Bible since cutting back on alcohol drinks. This book has everything you to start a mocktail journey while keeping it a light and fun experience.
Pros
-tons of recipes
-which tools and how to use the equipment
-a glossary of terms in case you read a recipe and don't know what X means.
-photos to show what your drinks should\could look like (I'm a visual learner)

Cons
-ingredients. I've made a few simple drinks but I'm not sure how hard these ingredients would be to find with the fancier recipes.

This book was around 3.5 stars for me. While I like the concept and there are a lot of drinks in this book, most of them are non-alcoholic versions of alcoholic drinks or use non-alcoholic spirits. I was curious to try drinks that were just not alcohol-focused but for sober drinks this book still revolves around alcohol based or alcohol flavors for most of the drinks.

If you want the taste and experience of alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic spirits this book may be a good fit for you.

I had seen a review on here that said there were many ingredients that were hard to find — so I had to check It out for myself — after looking thru this recipe book I would say yes if you don’t have a wine outlet or a total wine or a bev mo in the states, however, many of these alcohol free alcohols can be ordered online thru Amazon or elsewhere and I think if you’re already online writing a review, ahem, you should know that it is at your disposal. I would say don’t let exotic alcohol free ingredients deter you from trying out the recipes contained therein. Everything looks delectable and I would venture to say I’d try many recipes from this once the official copy comes out! Great work!

Thank you to Netgalley and publishers for allowing me to review honestly in exchange for this complimentary copy.

I really like this book because I always want something other than soda but that is non-alcoholic. It will be great for yourself or your guests. Enjoy.

I’ve belonged to the same neighborhood book club for nearly 20 years and the participants are all well-read, professional, and now mostly retired grandmothers who love all book genres but will never, ever buy that tote bag that says “Why does my wine club insist on reading books?” Why? Well, we’re in Utah, where only 12.4% of the population drinks regularly (but only the third “most sober” state after Tennessee and West Virginia, which confuses me). Anyway, our book club meetings tend to have elaborate food offerings (often themed from the book, so you know what we’ll have when we read “The Magic of the Lemon Drop Pie” in a couple of months). But drinks…are boring. As this handbook states, alcohol-free or “virgin” drinks don’t have to be boring. You can balance flavors and create presentations that are exciting.

So, this new “bible” for the “sober-curious” (I love that term!) is just what I (and my neighbors) need. The book is well-illustrated, and the photos are scrumptious. There’s a great ingredients/equipment list (I seriously doubt most of the neighbor ladies own wine glasses) and basic instructions for even the usually alcoholic cocktail maker about simple (and not so simple) syrups and shrubs.

The featured cocktails are also tributes to the many alcohol-free retailers that have popped up across the country (and who can apparently legally ship their spirit-free concoctions into Utah — there are no wine-of-the-month clubs here). The names of some of the mocktails are inspired (“Safe Sex on the Beach,” “Missionary,” “I’ll Fake Manhattan”) and as you consider the recipes, the “alcohol-curious” reader can also imagine the addition of intoxicating beverages that turn a “Mexican Sunset” back into a “Tequila Sunset.”

5 stars, I’d love a hardcover version of this — it would be great for the book club members to know that there are more than just “Shirley Temples” to sample. We’ll be having that “Lemon Delight” with the upcoming lemon drop book

“The Man I Never Met” by Elle Cook
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Recently more and more of my friends and family have been switching to an alcohol free lifestyle. While I can't say the same (after all, they say a glass of wine a day is good for you!) I do enjoy a good mocktail and wanted to have some good ones on hand for non-drinks folks at my next get together.

This new mocktail bible is the perfect solution! And while I haven't had the chance to try any yet, I'm super excited to. Pineapple Espresso and tonic? Sign me up. Mocktail Club's Havana Club? So much yes. Pom Basil Shrub? You know it!

I also VERY much appreciated all of the photos (not every cookbook includes these!), as well as the notes about equipment. Great book!

I really wanted to love this, but I’m afraid I didn’t. The cocktails all look absolutely delicious; so beautiful and refreshing. My issue, is that for me and where I live, too many of the ingredients needed are speciality / hard to get hold of. Unfortunately, I just found it frustrating seeing all these fabulous cocktails that I’m not able to make.

Thank you to Fox Chapel Publishing and Netgalley for an advanced e-copy of this book to read and review.

I will be using some of these recipes. Some I will use for a girls night. I might use others just for a fun drink for a self care night for myself.

I've recently needed to begin following a Fodmap diet, as such I was determined to pick up this book and investigate which mocktails I can drink! These recipes were easy to follow, which is great because I don't have a head for mixology! The photographs made the drinks very enticing which is always a must for me if I'm to enjoy a book such as this one.

A lot of great recipes for not only mocktails but also coffee drinks and more milky drinks. The recipes are accompanied by beautiful photographs of the drinks and a complete list of necessary equipment including instructions on how to make several of the syrups needed for the drinks
