I ended up really enjoying this book. It was VERY spicy and hot. The audiobook itself was good, but when sped up to 1.5x or 2x speed (my normal listening speeds), the audio itself got messed up. I don’t know if that was the NetGalley app itself or if that was the actual audiobook, but it took away a bit from the listening experience.

This book started out with a bang and did not slow down! I enjoyed it so much. I love a good sapphic story, and I didn’t think I would love the best friend’s mom trope as much as I do! The love story was natural and I felt for Erin and Cassie navigating this story.

[Really liked it]

I loved the storyline for this book, it was so unique and fun! The writing and narration were both excellent. I flew through this audiobook last month, I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend checking it out!

Thank you to the publisher and @netgalley for providing a free advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This book was okay, new to sapphic love but it kind of got annoying in a way. They were so wishy washy for each other, one moment yes the next moment no. Cassie swore parker was her bff yet kept such a huge secret from her. I loved the age gap part of it but i did feel that the reason she liked her so much was because of her unresolved mommy issues. Also something i didnt like was the way erin was always so mean to her when pushing her away. However the spice was good and the banter hilarious. Loved this!

I was on the fence about this book when I first requested it. I am normally not one for age gap books. However I really enjoyed this. There were a few times when fully expected Parker to find out and have the right to yell at her mom and Cassie, however I enjoyed the way things played out. I finished this book in a day. It was a spicy little number that I could not put down.

Finally, the Sapphic messy bisexual romance we've all been waiting for.

A perfect combination of affectionate and sweet falling for someone, and sex so hot you would melt. Seriously, do not listen to in public if you want to preserve your dignity.

There was some sort of weird audio blip/ static distortion during a particularly steamy scene that was jarring, and the first few chapters would benefit from some timeline jumping.

Featuring ~ dual 3rd person POV, LGBT ~ FF, steamage in chapter 1, age gap (21 & 39), college, best friends mother, daughter's best friend, forced proximity, secret relationship, forbidden romance

Cassie and Erin
Cassie and Erin met at a bar and had a little romp in the back seat of the rental. The next day they realize their mistake when they have breakfast together with Parker, Cassie's best friend and Erin's daughter.

Holy smokes with the steamage ~ I need a cold shower after this one. It took them a bit to get there but under all the chemistry there was a sweet love story too. Both Parker and Cassie were a bit immature at times, but still mostly likable. Acacia was a great bff/middle lady for both of them to have. I loved the way the epilogue wrapped everything up.

Narrated by Jeremy Carlisle Parker, Quinn Riley and Stephanie Németh-Parker for 11 hours 59 minutes and 36 seconds, easy to follow at 2x. Cassie's narrator was on the slower side and I wish I could have sped her part up a little more.

I would very much be delighted to listen/read more from Meryl in the future.

this book had a lot of potential to me & hype but unfortunately it fell short. I didn’t feel like the progression from booking up to being in love was well developed. I struggled with the unnecessary comments on side characters races. I wished that there had been some kind of communication of the change in relationship between mother & daughter after Parker found out her best friend was dating her mom or how her dad treated her mom. it just felt like a lot was left unfinished and left me wanting.

Hooray for MILFs! Meryl Wilsner is so good at slow burn and tension. The pacing of Mistakes Were Made feels off at times, with a chunk of the middle feeling like a real slog. But overall the story is great.

This starts out very hot & heavy straight away.
Then it has some conflict, simmers down and becomes kind of boring.
After some time it picks up again and has an overly HEA.
I hate when characters give up their dreams for love. If someone loves you, they will support and care for you no matter what (or where) you choose to pursue those dreams. Cassie should have went to Cal Tech.
This was still fairly enjoyable, but like a lot of romances, had they just had a simple chat in the beginning of the book, we could have saved a lot of unnecessary drama and pain.
Thank you NetGalley & Macmillan Audio for my DRC.

This is my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it. This is everything I could ever want from a Sapphic romance. Don't let this cover fool you, this is steamy!

Cassie is such a confident character and is not afraid to go after what she wants. So when she sees a beautiful woman from across the room, she buys her a drink and one thing leads to another. Cassie is young, but she has a stable head on her shoulders and is excelling in college.

Erin is in town to visit her daughter at college so the night before she is to meet her daughter, she ends up in a random bar and it quickly becomes a night she will never forget.

The two part ways and call it what it is, a one night stand. That is until the two run into each other at breakfast.
Their chemistry is off the charts and it will have your heart wooing for these two.

Some of my favorite tropes, best friend's parent (mom), age gap, forced proximity and it is spicy. Need I say more?

*Thank you Netgalley for an Audio ARC: above is my honest review*

A college senior unknowingly hooks up with her best friend’s mom.

I loved, loved, loved this book! I’m not usually engaged by novels that open with a hookup, but this one grabbed me right away. Cassie and Erin feel like living, breathing people, and the connection between them is irresistible. Neither want to hurt Erin’s daughter but they can’t help being drawn together. The mistakes they make come from love, and it’s easy to see why they don’t make better choices. The plot is compelling and the intimate scenes super steamy. The dual narration of the audiobook worked well and made the story easy to understand.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Okay this book was hilarious. I’m not ashamed to admit I requested this from NetGalley based solely on the title. I mean - who out there hasn’t done something and then just said “look, mistakes were made”. I had to know what mistakes were made. I went in blind because I think it’s more fun that way.

And oh boy is this some dramatic mistakes being made! Imagine being in a bar and buying a pretty woman a drink. Then going to breakfast the next morning and realizing that the pretty woman from last night is actually your best friends mom. Okay, it happened, let’s move on right? WRONG. As the title suggests, this is a mistake that just continues to be made.

I got sucked into this very quickly. It is much spicier than I was prepared for but I’m not complaining. There are many issues that are dealt with in this book as well and I found it highly entertaining. Definitely recommend.

I really liked the premise here, poor Cassie has a sexy hookup with a woman she meets in a bar and the woman in question happens to be her best friends mom. Poor Erin too because she also has no idea Cassie is Parker’s friend either. So this definitely leads to an awkward situation for the both of them but I was so into their age gap romance! You don’t often see an older woman in an age gap romance (in traditionally published books) and you really don’t see it a same sex relationship so I was definitely here for it. The forbidden factor added some intensity to this super sexy story, this has plenty of heat and Cassie and Erin’s chemistry was so hot. The supporting characters added a lot to the story and their friendships felt genuine, I really enjoyed when they were all together. High heat factor aside this still had some tenderness and swoony moments too, overall a super enjoyable romance that cemented my status as a firm fan of the author!

4.5⭐ on 🎧
NC-17 because this book is 🥵🥵🥵🥵

Is this the horniest book I've read this year? I think so!! Cassie and Erin just could not keep their hands off each other and honestly I was perfectly okay with that because it just fueled this age gap taboo romance. This book was just so hot but it was hot with purpose and every moment Cassie and Erin spent together led to these two learning and growing together.

Billed as "the MILF book", this book delivered and then some. Cassie and Erin first meet in a bar only to realize later that Cassie (a college senior) is best friends with Erin's college freshman daughter, Parker. But when things feel so good and right, it's hard to remember how to exercise self-control for these two. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed both the evolution of Cassie and Erin's relationship and the friendship between Cassie and Parker.

Meryl Wilsner created this truly believable world spanning from Erin's medical work to Cassie's studies with the normal college breaks and parties. With multiple narrators on the audiobook, it really felt like these characters were in my head telling me about their lives. There were a few points where the book was predictable and I felt like Cassie's backstory was not super well developed, but that was easy to overlook with all the steam. 😉

If you are a fan of sapphic romances, taboo romance or age gap romances, this book is an absolute must. This book has received a lot of early hype and it totally lives up to it so make sure to have this book ready for a cozy winter day when you need to be warmed up because this book brings the heat!!

Note: Previous readers commented that there were some slightly racist and fat phobic comments in this book, which they sent feedback to the publisher on. Listening to the more recently recorded audiobook, I think most of these lines have been removed and think this is an important example of why beta readers and feedback is important in the publishing process!

Narrators: Jeremy Carlisle Parker; Quinn Riley; Stephanie Németh-Parker

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley, St. Martin’s Griffin and Macmillan Audio and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

My Thoughts: This was such an adorable story. The story is narrated from both Cassie and Erin’s POV, which I love the dual POV, you really get a sense of both sides of the relationship. While I had both ebook and audio, I did primarily audio. Cassie is a young, independent college person who has not figured out relationships or how to be vulnerable. While Erin has been divorced but has become a stronger woman because of it, and know who she is. When these two meet accidentally, they try everything they can to stay as friends since Erin is Cassie’s best friend’s mother. The narrators did such a good job with the characters, you could feel the characters. The characters were well developed with depth, witty banter, deep chemistry, oh so much chemistry, and creatively developed. The side characters are fabulous and I can absolutely see having some spin off books. The spice level is off the charts. The author’s writing style was complex, funny, passionate, swoony, spicy, and kept me engaged. This book publishes on Tuesday and I do highly recommend picking up, especially the audio version.

3? Maybe 3.5?

What I liked:
The evolution of Erin and Parker’s relationship was so wholesome and I loved the conversations they had with each other. Parker started off as a spoiled brat and ended up being the healthiest character so yay for character development. I also enjoyed the queerness of this book. There was a ride range of representation and it wasn’t over the top and felt sincere.

What didn’t work for me:
All the characters were super horny and I wish there were like 2 less steamy scenes replaced with actual adult conversation. It was hard to cheer for the two love interests relationship because besides their cutesy dinner FaceTime calls, all their conversations revolved around sex or were super surface level. I really wanted to DNF around the 60% mark (I’m glad I didn’t) but it was hard for me to finish this one because it felt like it was dragging on.

I read this book as an arc in exchange for an honest review and I’m sitting here speechless. I literally don’t know what to say because I enjoyed this so much. It was so cute and it was so… just… normal but I don’t know how to say normal without making it sound boring! But it wasn’t boring! It felt like a true romance, I felt sucked in I enjoyed the story so much and it was so sexy and so spectacular and I really liked the connection between the characters and I really liked their personalities and I really liked how Real world it felt. And despite mommy issues it wasn’t triggering for me and I just am really impressed with this I really enjoyed it. I know I’m blabbering on but yeah what a sweet, sexy, loving, romance.

I really love this book and couldn't wait to see how I will the drama would unfold. But I do think there was a bit too much sex where it seemed like the relationship was just sex. So the chemistry wasn't really there It kind of just came off as a sexual relationship. But then they wanted to be together forever like that didn't make much sense based on what was projected on the page

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced copy of Mistakes Were Made.

I thought this was a fun Mrs Robinson type of story. Cassie and Erin's relationship was passionate and steamy, and even though they were keeping secrets from others, I was rooting for their relationship to work out.
