Sooo much fun!! A highly recommended purchase for most collections, particularly where cookbooks and horror are already popular.

This book seems like the most fun way to have a horror movie watch party. They are very few recipes in this book I am not excited to try, and the pictures give perfect atmosphere. Instructions are clear, outcomeS seem easy enough, and it has inspired me to make recipes based off of my favorite horror movies!

I somehow missed that this was all plant based which disappointed me a little, but that's the only criticism I have (and let's be honest - it's my fault I can't read!).

I LOVE a good horror film (and a few bad ones) and Death For Dinner picks the cream of the crop for punny scares. Titles and ingredients are seamlessly interwoven with nods to movie plots which I personally think is quite the achievement.

Really well written and clear recipes without feeling overbearing or like a chore, with easily customisable ingredients (for instance, substituting the vegan friendly items for more traditional meats / cheeses etc). It's the attention to detail that impresses me most, whilst I don't think it's the cookbook or type of food rather for me, the horror elements elevate this cookbook perfectly without being gimicky.

My favourite is the planchette shaped toast to go with the Oujia pea soup!

Don’t let the title scary you – these are all tried and true and require nothing sketchy. This cultural and culinary masterpiece is perfect for Spooky Season, which 60 different recipes all paying tribute to and based on the most beloved horror movie and television phenomenon’s. Some of my personal favorite? Killer Clown Caviar, Pastageist, Captain Howdy’s Martini, the Red Rum, and the Spicy Hitchiker’s Margarita. This is the stuff of your Halloween party dreams!

Absolutely love this cookbook! I will definitely be buying a physical copy for myself, and likely several as gifts. The theming is fun, but there are also great recipes and a variety of dishes.

This cookbook belong on every horror aficionado's bookshelf!
There are recipes for every meal of the day. I think it would be a lot of fun to have a movie marathon weekend and make the recipes that go with the movie! And to add to all that, it is all PLANT BASED!! Which is even better, in my opinion.
First I would watch The Crow and have some Devil's Night Cauliflower Wings. The next day I will watch American Psycho and have the Charcoal Arugula Salad. And of course, gonna have to make a fancy milkshake and put some Zombie Foam on top of that while I watch Dawn of the Dead!
I could just go on and on, but seriously; a must have for horror movie lovers who like to cook.

With Halloween just around the corner, I was excited to get my hands on a copy of "Death for Dinner". If you're throwing a Halloween party or you're a fan of horror movies, you need to snap up this book immediately. The book full of plant based recipes with Halloween names and information about which horror movie inspired the dish. The sections include Sickening Starters & Sides, Monstrous Mains, Depraved Desserts, Atrocious Accompaniments and my favourite; Cursed Cocktails.
It's a pet hate of mine when cookbooks don't include a photo for every recipe and Death for Dinner is guilty of this too. I want to see what a Bay Harbour Bloody Mojito looks like!
Anyway, the recipes are intriguing and whilst plant based, could easily be adapted for meat eaters too. This is certainly a cookbook I will be using in October and I fully intend to celebrate Halloween with a Captain Howdy's Martini with The Hills Have Fries. In fact, these recipes will work for any horror movie night!

Thanks to Zach Neil, his publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh. My. Goodness. This book is everything. I am not someone who can watch horror with my eyeballs. I read it, but I love it so much. I have a crazy system for the process to watch a scary movie. My limit is Scream. But, I have watched a few of these movies, and I wish I had all these treats, meals, and drinks for the ride! I cannot wait to try the BBQ sliders! I had not read this author's previous books, but consider them added to my Christmas Wish List on Amazon for this year! I love the author's description of the recipes and the short parts of the movies. This makes me want to curl up this winter, make the yummy snacks, and try to keep my eyes open with a scary movie. While using my "Christmas Watching Movie Blanket." This Lasagna sounds amazing. I think what I want to try the most is the Haddonfried Steak! I could go on and on. I also absolutely loved all the gorgeous pictures. This is a must have for any horror fan.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

These recipes are amazing. They're amazingly thematic, well laid out and easy to read. The pictures are really good and I loved the variety of recipes included. My veggie partner and I are going to try all of these eventually and I'll definitely be getting a physical copy to keep in the kitchen.

I know that there has to be a certain level of text to pictures and maybe there was a problem getting copyright approval for movie stills but there needed to be a LOT more pictures of the food here.
I wanted to know what Walker Juice and Blood-soaked Loaf looked like.
What was great, though, was the staging suggestions. If you were having a bloody Halloween Party then this had some great ideas for setting up your food to give the maximum effect possible.
As with many of these cookbooks, the ingredients were American-centric so there might be some difficulty in getting hold of some of the ingredients for non-Americans.
I also didn't realise until about half-way through that all of the meals are plant-based and suitable for a Vegan diet which was interesting.
Perfect for Halloween parties and Horror movie fans.

I love horror so seeing a horror themed cookbook felt right up my alley the recipes in here look amazing I can’t wait to try some of them, I just felt like some didn’t fit the movies which is totally fine and a lot of this book was more about the presentation of the food which makes sense the author of this book is the owner of beetle House so presentation is would be very important. I think this is a great book you’re having a themed dinner or party, the presentations are over the top but if you’re willing to go the extra mile I do recommend this book because this is some thing if I went to a Halloween party or like a horror themed movie night with friends these are things I was in love to see. I did so really enjoy this and would recommend this to friends

I am a big fan of both horror films and cooking, so this book spoke to me immediately after I discovered it. I love the design of it, tapping into the 80's horror aesthetic, with not only the inspiration behind selected recipes but also the titles that evoke names of famous films. What this book does well is capture attention, with great-looking photos of the dishes and tips on serving them. The author is a restaurant owner and it shows in the theatrical way some of them are presented. I think many of the dishes are conceptually amazing and I would love to try them, but I am not sure to which extent they are truly inviting to replicate at home with the same "wow" effect. For example, small burgers served on a machete (who casually owns a machete and would like to serve burgers on it?) or pea soup presented on an ouija board. I mean, everything is possible but without the board, it is just a normal vegan pea soup. I like that the author played on the idea and made a cookbook that could have been easily interpreted to be highly carnivorous due to the gory nature of the topic, but made it fully vegan instead. I am not a vegan myself but I tried to be some time ago and I went through various cookbooks during this phase of my life. I find that there are two distinctive types of vegan cookbooks - those that present simple recipes making you feel like being a vegan is not difficult with a few changes, and then those that suggest you buy alternatives to just about anything making it a chaotic and overwhelming experience if you don't already have a fully stocked kitchen. I am a fan of the first type but unfortunately for me, this book is the latter. It could be just me, but I don't have liquid-activated coconut charcoal in my cupboard. Of course, not all of the recipes require such specific ingredients, but still. I think I will stick to trying mainly the delicious-sounding cocktails at the end of the book. But by all means, if you plan on fully recreating some of the recipes, I would like to be invited to taste them.

I wanted to love this especially with the horror movie theme. Unfortunately many of the recipes did not really fit the movies. A good idea but missed the mark for me.

I absolutely love love this cookbook! I cannot wait to try some of the recipes in October. This is perfect timing for spooky fall time. It is being published tomorrow, September 6th. A must if you want to have a spooky party or have a theme party during Halloween time. Or rather anytime of the year for a yourself or gathering for a movie night with people. This is a great one to have! I love the ideas given for the themes along with the food. Just great information and recipes were really easy to follow. Are the recipes are coordinated with horror films. I've noticed there's been a little bit of a trend of thing cookbooks and there's been a few ones that I really loved and this one is definitely on top! I think it also make a great gift for someone's birthday or Christmas time the holidays are coming up. If someone who's really into horror stories or movies or spooky stories this is a great gift I get.

I’m not exactly a cookbook buyer but the theme was just too good to pass by.

I tried out more of the beverages than the meals- the Pig’s Blood beverage inspired by Carrie, the Crystal Lake old fashioned inspired by Friday the 13th, and Red Rum inspired by The Shining were fun cocktails albeit a bit sweet. I made the Devil’s Night cauliflower wings inspired by The Crow. They were an average amount of work that just didn’t have the crispy texture from baking that I would have liked. Still fun!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ -- Great cover on this one!

So I am not going to lie, I have a wee bit of an obsession with themed cookbooks. There are worse things to be obsessed with, right? 😂 That being said, as soon as I saw this one I knew I had to get my hands on it. I mean, come on...<b>"60 Gorey-Good, Plant-Based Drinks, Meals, and Munchies Inspired by Your Favorite Horror Films".</b> I had to see what my favorite cheesy horror movie icons where cooking up!

This cookbook is divided into five sections each containing several delicious (vegan) sounding and easy to follow recipes...

- Sickening Starters & Sides (The Hills Have Fries 😂)
- Monstrous Mains (Flesh and Blood aka tomato soup and grilled cheese...Sriracha Maple
Funnel Cake Burger <--- this was SOOO good!)
- Depraved Desserts (Blood (Orange) Cheesecake Trifle)
- Cursed Cocktails (Bay Harbor Bloody Mojito)
- Atrocious Accompaniments (Totally ’80s Cheese Sauce)

The only small issue I had with this one is, I think the graphics could have been better. That said, this is still a must have for any horror fan and the perfect cookbook if you love to throw epic Halloween parties!

When I saw that this was a horror inspired cook book I was intrigued, I was not expecting to find how filled with humour this book is!

These vegan horror inspired recipes are so delightfully tongue in cheek.

There is a great selection including starters, mains, sweets and cocktails.

Highlights include a bucket of tomato soup inspired by Carrie and Regans Pea soup vomit from the Exorcist. I genuinely burst out laughing at some of these concoctions!

The recipes themselves are fantastic, I am not vegan but I will definitely be attempting a lot of the suggestions in the book.

The photographs and horror film images throughout the book were wonderful.

A genuinely amusing and useful vegan cookbook.

Many thanks to the publisher for providing me with a digital ARC to provide an honest review.

This cookbook with a vintage horror theme appeals to me greatly, and it comes out right before Halloween. I'm loving the names of each dish, their annotation inspirations, the photographs that go with them, and the staging recommendations.

None of these simple, healthful plant-based meals call for ingredients that are hard to find at any supermarket, if you don't already have the majority of them at home. However, several of the recipes call for appliances that some people might not have at home (instant pots, etc.), and they don't offer alternative cooking techniques.

The recipes for "the Hills Have Fries," "the cauliflower wings," "herbed bread," and "peanut butter popcorn," to mention a few, will definitely be saved for future use.

A fun creepy cookbook, all about celebrating gory movies while eating vegetarian dishes reminiscent of horror classics.
I must say I won't have the stomach to eat those while watching blood baths on screen, but I found the idea of vegetarian dishes interesting and I really liked how some of the vegetarian mushroom burgers sounded.
I would have liked to see a few modern horror movies too, but it was definitely more in the classic B movie and 80s/90s register. This might be a cool gift for dads, especially as this was written by a dad for his daughters.
