This graphic novel was everything! It was cute and had excellent pacing. Plus 2 sapphic main characters!!

The plot was interesting and creative. It was executed very well and left me wanting more. The art style was incredibly beautiful and really added to the story with all the details. This book is perfect for middle grade. or really any readers, who want to start getting into spooky books and enjoy graphic novels. I loved the friendship between these characters, it felt realistic and not forced for the sake of the story. The relationship between Vicky and Izzy was adorable and the story didn’t revolve solely around their relationship. It felt natural.

This book features the following representation: Latina lesbian main character, sapphic love interest, Korean American side character, and disabled side character. I thought the representation within this book was amazing. I can’t wait to see how this story will continue!

Thank you BOOM! Studios and NetGalley for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

1 Sentence Summary: Izzy’s family has just moved to Sleepy Hollow, a town obsessed with the legend of the Headless Horseman, but Izzy doesn’t believe in ghosts; that is, until she’s assigned to tutor Vicky Van Tassel—strange things keep happening, they discover a curse on the Van Tassel line, and maybe the legend is more real than Izzy thought.

My Thoughts: This was a great story that will be perfect for Halloween! I enjoyed the characters, the story, the relationships, and the art. It did seem a bit rushed, but other than that it’s a good spooky fall read.

Recommend to: Fans of ghost stories and graphic novels.

✨4.5/5✨

There's something about Queer Graphic Novels that I just CRAVE! I absolutely loved how light and whimsical this retelling of Sleepy Hollow was! Came for the title, stayed for the art. Excited for Shannon Watters to put out more in this series because this girl needs more spooky time reads!

Pros:
- Queer and Disability representation
- Sapphic story line
- Sleepy Hollow retelling (easy pro)

Cons:
- I need more!

Thank you so much to BOOM! Studios and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a really cute modern day reimagining/continuation of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow! I loved the representation!

Easy to read and follow, loved the twist on the original rather then just a re telling. The graphics weren’t as good on my iPad, however I think that’s a digital file issue nothing to do with the graphic novel itself.
Great break inbetween books.
Would really love to see more of these.

I received an arc of the Hollow from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review via netgalley. Thank you to BOOM Studios! and Netgalley.

I saw this graphic novel pop up yesterday on Netgalley and was very interested in it. I grabbed it and binge read it in one sitting. The story was adorable, the characters had great development, and the art style was amazing.

I am very picky what art styles I like in graphic novels and this was perfect for me, it was the right mix of realistic and cartoonish. I felt like the art style also fit the story perfectly and helped make it what it is.

The Hollow is based around Sleepy Hollow, it’s set in Sleepy Hollow, where everyone believes that it’s a true story and they celebrate it all year round especially during halloween. Izzy Crane just moved to Sleepy Hollow and doesn’t believe that the story could possibly be true until she falls into the orbit of town royalty, Vicky Van Tassel and becomes friends with Croc Byun. When they uncover a secret about the Van Tassel family, they must team up to try and save Vicky’s life.

The representation in this book was amazing and very subtle, it wasn’t made to be a big deal which I can appreciate when it isn’t a focus of the story. The friendship development was very realistic and I really related to becoming quick friends after moving to a new school. I also loved the relationship between Vicky and Izzy, it was so cute to read about.

I highly recommend this as a cute halloween graphic novel with friendship, magic, and diversity.

Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this! I love a good retelling! This is now a favorite for Sleepy Hollow Legend! I love the authors’ spins on this legend to make it so enjoyable for many ages! The setting and the interaction in the high school setting were perfect! This graphic novel is probably one of the best I’ve read. Everyone is very well represented without it being in your face about it.

This was such a cute book! It’s perfect for middle grade readers who are wanting something spooky but not quite ready for the real scary stuff yet.

I loved how they didn’t make a big deal out of anyone’s sexuality, there was no big coming out scene. The characters were just who they were.

I will definitely be purchasing a copy of this when it comes out!

A cute lgbtq+ remix of the Lengend of sleepy Hollow with such a new twist that I adored!

I love when retellings make things their own but keep enough of the classic we love and I think this was done well. Plus the romance and friendships were so sweet!

This was such a delightful quick read! Absolutely perfect for halloween, with beautiful artistry and a fun spooky plot line. Whilst it was kept relatively simple, the characters were all fully dimensional (with two leading queer characters!).

This gave very strong scooby-doo vibes and I really really hope they turn this into a series, which I am hopefully optimistic about... (please and thank you).

I really enjoyed the representation and having on-page queer characters, especially in the lighthearted spooky atmosphere. I think this could be a favourite for a much younger audience as well :)

Hollow was a fun retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow with a present-day cast of high school students. The story was both compelling and well paced with plenty of action and a little bit of romance. The illustrations and character designs were fantastic, and I loved the range of expression they all had.

Overall, I had a very enjoyable time reading this, and I think it makes for a solid spooky season pick!

I had so much fun with this!

First of all, there are 2 sapphic main characters! And let me tell you, they're adorable.

The plot was amazing and so are the characters! It was spooky, funny, and pretty intense all at once. I genuinely loved every second of this story and 100% reccomend it!

(also... "the end, for now"?? a potential second part to this? yes please)

Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review!
