Now this is a series you have to get from it's magic, spells to the long lost loves between Lucy and Jonas it was a great read. I loved seeing how Kristen Proby not only bring these two worlds together but we see how different yet similiar they are in some ways. Seeing Jonas, a man from the Salem witch trials seeing our world first time ever was really interesting seeing it through his eyes. We have Lucy also in awe seeing a lost time and the people that used to be around through her eyes was definitely a time travel no one saw coming. Seeing how close they were to each other all these years and now someone wants them gone is nothing I expected in this book. From beginning to the end there are so many things happeneing in this book I loved it how Kristen Proby keeps you on edge of suspense trying to figure what is the evil happening and rooting for love. Awesome read cannot wait to see what she does in the next book in this series.

I honestly love her PNR books. She writes some of the most simple worlds, but at the same time they hook me right in. I really liked her world in this series. The MMC was great. I really liked how protective he was of the heroine. And I really liked the heroine. She was smart and caring. And she was protective of the people she loved. Overall, this is a good start to the series and I can’t wait for the other books in the series.

I don’t even know where to start, so I’ll just say that Kristen Proby continues to knock my socks off! She is such a wonderful storyteller and this story of three sisters with a magical gift sucked me right in. She created this world with interesting characters, intrigue, mystery and fantastic chemistry. I’m so invested in how this mystery plays out. Plus seeing more of these amazing characters!!

Although the name Kristen Proby rang a bell,I thought I hadn’t read anything from her. While checking out Goodreads, I saw her name popping up at the 1007 Dark Nights series. Since I love more of those authors, I figured Kristen Proby’s Hallows End was worth a try.

And boy, it was awesome! Lucy is a witch, who has returned to her hometown Salem. She has some strange feelings though, which drive her to the forest. There, she finds Jonas, a very handsome guy, who seems to appear out of nowhere. Jonas has been living under a curse for an endless number of years and he has already made peace with the fact that he will be living with this curse for forever. But then he meets Lucy, And there seem to be some changes in the curse.

Could Lucy be the reason for the changes? And if so, could she help Jonas to lift the curse or will she make the situation worse?

A wonderful story full of suspense, witchcraft and romance. I’m very curious about the next parts in the series! Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Thanks to Ampersand Publications, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book - I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I love autumn, I love Halloween, I love witchy romances and I read them all year round.

This book has plenty of romance, suspense and autumn vibes to keep any reader happy. Although the relationship develops between Lucy and Jonas rather quickly (soulmates you know), the world and the other characters leave plenty of room for this story to continue.

I am really looking forward to the next one with Breena and Giles.

*** 4.5 ⭐️ ***

Lucy and her coven live in one time, Jonas and his coven live in another, but somehow they find each other. The Darkness also finds them and is bent on getting revenge. The only things not increasing my rating are the fact that previous acts of magic are referred to with no context or background as well as how Lucy’s mother died. I hope a prequel is on the horizon to clear this information up. Otherwise, great character development and romance between Lucy and Jonas.

This ARC was provided by the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Very light tale about three witches in Salem confronted with a mystery and determined to solve it using their magic, witchy relatives and warm feelings. The feel of this book is youthful rather than adult, much is explained or accepted without story development or mystery. It is, however, a quick read and the first in a series. For lovers of young witchy tales, filled with female relatives, this will be a delightful series. I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

This is the witchy romance I needed this spooky season! Lucy is a witch who lives in Salem, along with her cousins who are more like sisters. Jonas is a witch from 1692 who lives in town locked in a time bubble. This story is a bit of a spin off from Kristen Proby's Bayou Magic series. The whole book has Salem, Practical Magic, witchy vibes and I absolutely loved it. I am always looking for stories that give me that vibe and this one was perfection! There is an underlying paranormal suspense storyline that had me on edge the whole book. This is a true stand alone romance, but the suspense storyline will carry throughout the series. I could not put it down and can not wait for the next book in this series.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my honest review.

Hallows End is the first book in Kristen Proby's new series The Curse of the Blood Moon.
This was an interesting, exciting book about witches!
I could not put it down! I am excited to read the rest of the series

What a debut for this series! It's a faster paced read with strangers to lovers with instalove goodness. Jonas knows all the secrets of the town and Lucy is new, but there's an immediate pull towards each other. There's secrets, magic, and a good balance of mystery thrown in. I wish it was slightly spicier, but it worked without it. I'm excited to see the others get their stories

I read Hallows End in one sitting and have no regrets. Proby immediately drew me in with Jonas, the time traveling hero and Lucy, the witch who stumbles upon him. I loved the chemistry between them and even though they only knew each other for a short time it didn't feel that way.

More than the romance I loved the story. It gave just the right amount of spooky vibes to kick off October. There are two different things going on. In Salem one witch dies each year on Samhain. In Hallows End they're cursed and reliving the same 28 days over and over and over (and Jonas is the only one who knows that). They're tied together, but we don't know how yet, it's clear that this is going to be the overarching story over the three books, and I am here for it.

I can't wait for the next one!

Ok, where do I start! I need the next book yesterday. This is how good I found this book. Kristen finds a way to suck you into a story like no other. This is a paranormal, small town, slow burn, soulmates, love at first sight story. The push and pull between Lucy and Jonás from the beginning was just fantastic. A small age gap of 330 years or so but who is counting. Jonas is from the past, Lucy Is from the present day, but they make each other be better people. With the help of new friends and family they unite to fight off a curse that has hurt so many and taken so much. The story is full of plot twist, spells, witches, time travel and people who have lived in same 30 days for 300 plus years. Can’t wait to read the next book to see if they are successful in breaking the curse of the blood moon.

Hallow’s End is a very unique and intriguing tale that caught my attention from the very first page.

Lucy is a green witch, who feels at home in her forest in Salem. Returning to her hometown after an event that was life-changing. She treasures her families' lineage and the traditions they have carried on through the generations.

Jonas knows the secrets of Hallow’s End, and has carried them on his shoulders for over 300 years. He has watched the world change while he has seen his own little village stay the same through the centuries. Jonas wants to finally break the curse that’s been lingering over his village for too many years.

Things change just a little when a modern day witch sees a handsome man from the past, and there is an instant connection. Together will they be able to break the curse?

Kristen Proby tells an amazing tale that puts us in the mood for Halloween. Hallow’s End is a story filled with magic, the traditions that stand the test of time, love and a bit of danger. Lucy and Jonas are absolutely amazing together. Their chemistry and even their magic know what’s up. The story is just magical in itself. I just from the very first page fell in love with his story. It’s magical and mysterious, but yet romantic and heartwarming. I am intrigued and can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment for those in Hallow’s End.

Soulmates, spells, a time loop, and so much more to love about this book! Kristen Proby does a wonderful job of creating a setting and characters you can't help but fall in love with. There is so much more to this story and I cannot wait for the next book!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this title and all opinions are my own.

4 1/2 Wicked Stars!

What a fun start to a new paranormal series. Kristen Proby can definitely write witches and all things tied to them. I enjoyed everything about this book from the curse to the mysterious and dangerous force threatening our main characters. Of course the romantic connection between Lucy and Jonas was perfection. Who doesn't love a good tale of soulmates? It's even more enjoyable to read this book in October as we are in the fall season and quickly heading towards Halloween.

Even though this book gives you a small "happy for now" finish, the storylines are anything but complete in this series. There is still a curse to be broken and a malevolent force to be reckoned with. There are also other romances to nurture. I look forward to future books and seeing how Ms. Proby continues to expand this world.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

A fantastic new series from Kristen Proby. Set in the spooky town of Salem and featuring three with cousins, Hallows End is the first book in the Curse of the Blood Moon series. The story arc involves breaking a centuries old spell that has caught the hamlet of Hallows End in a time loop. It was only supposed to last a couple of years to protect the inhabitants from the infamous witch trials of that time but three centuries on the villagers are still trapped reliving the same month over and over with the exception of Jonas Morley, the caster of the spell. He is the only one to remember and the only one who can cross the barrier hiding the hamlet from the outside world. On one of those trips he meets Lucy, a green witch and instantly feels a connection but danger still stalks the witches of Salem and it now has its sights set firmly on Lucy.

Drama, magic and spells, suspense, hidden threats and dangers, a looming battle – is it something that originated in the hidden Hallows End or are they merely pawns in the hands of an evil presence? All set against a suitably atmospheric background. What’s not to love about this book. With a hero and heroine with hot chemistry and a strong cast of secondary characters all with their own dramas just waiting to play out in future books, Hallows End is a fantastic start to what I’m sure will be an amazing series.

This book caught my eye on NetGalley. The start to a new PNR series featuring witches in Salem, MA? I'm intrigued! I'd never heard of this author before, and a quick trip to Goodreads revealed a swath of Contemporaries, so I decided to give it a try.

Those that follow my reviews know I'm a bit of a prose snob and deep characterization, reasonably fleshed out world-building, and a plot that hangs together are a must for me. And yet - sometimes - a book completely fails to provide these elements, and I willingly look past that fact. It boggles the mind. My theory is that once in a while I find a book whose subject matter interests me but that is "easy," and after 10 hours of engineering I need to shut off my analytical brain, let my lizard brain take over, and simply feed my id. This is one of those books for me.

Hallows End is squarely a 2-star read, and yet I absolutely plan on reading the other books in this series when they come out. The prose was average (if I'm being generous), there were plot holes galore, convenient solutions to problems, lots of hand-waving in the world-building, no character development, and oh lord help me the instalove! And yet! I finished this in a day and can't wait to find out what happens to these witches! Don't judge me!

Lucy and her two cousins are witches in Salem, MA. Samhain is fast approaching, and the trio is having bad dreams, ominous given a curse that kills one witch each year on Halloween night. Jonas Morley is a witch, but a witch from 1692, who put a curse on Hallows End to hide the town from those burning witches as part of the Salem Witch Trials. But something went wrong; the curse didn't end when the threat went away, and the people of Hallows End have been cursed to repeat the same month over and over again since 1692, and only Jonas is aware of what's happening. Jonas comes to Lucy's herbalist shop, and there is instant attraction. The two are fated - when they meet, a mark forms on her hand (this is 100% an instalove situation on top of being fated mates) - and together they must break the curse on Hallows End while also protecting the current witches of Salem from their own curse destined to harm one of their own on Samhain.

The fall, witchy vibe is the saving grace of this book. When Lucy is puttering around her store or trimming and drying herbs for her salves and potions, or when the cousins are chanting together to ward off evil, you definitely get the traditional witchy vibe, and its cozy and delightful. But that can't, in and of itself, make up for the flat characters, lack of continuity, or massive plot holes. Here's a few examples... First: Jonas can apparently move between Hallows End and Salem, and his clothes magically change to fit the period. What about Lucy's clothes? Do hers change? And why can Lucy move back and forth but no one else can? And how come it applies to just his clothes, but nothing else he brings back and forth? Another: When trying to figure out how to break the curse, no one has any ideas. But when Jonas visits Lucy's aunts, they tell him that he's on the right track. Wait, so... they know how, but won't help him? He has to figure it out himself? Unclear... Yet another: When the crew gets together to discuss recent attacks, they suddenly think to call a woman in New Orleans for advice. Out of the blue. Someone who has never been mentioned before. And what does she have? A letter and box for Lucy that her dead mother left her years ago. You know this will come in handy! Final example: One of the women in Hallows End randomly gives Jonas a gift toward the end of the book - a wand. Said wand is then used to break the spell the big bad uses in the climax to trap him in Hallows End while the witches in Salem are under attack. How convenient. Needless to say, there are more examples like this, but I think you get the picture.

The book ends with an HFN, not an HEA. There's a clock ticking to solve the curse of Hallows End (another unclear plot point - I was left confused as to whether or not this actually exists). So although Lucy and Jonas marry, if they can't break the curse, Hallows End will fade out of existence, and so they think will Jonas. The author set up some nice interpersonal drama between Lucy's two cousins and their heroes, ostensibly the next two couples in the series. And the big bad does get away. These three elements set up a nice hook that makes the reader want to find out more, despite of the massive plot and world-building holes, the deux ex machina (all over the place), and sub-average prose.

Look, am I going to recommend this book? No, I'm not. Am I going to read on in this series? Yup. What can I say; I'm a mystery wrapped in an enigma. But sometimes I just need "easy."

Thank you NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review...

Hallow's End follows Lucy, a real life witch from Salem, and Jonas, a powerful witch who's town is stuck in time by a curse. Together they must find a way to vanquish the evil that has been plaguing Salem and Lucy's family. They must also lift the curse from Hallow's End. Along the way they face trials and tribulations but know they are stronger together.

Lucy (our FMC) is a green witch. She is kind, loving, compassionate, passionate, smart, and witty! She is the perfect FMC for this story. I love how strong she is but isn't afraid to show just the right amount of vulnerability.

Jonas (our MMC) is a powerful witch! He is a healer and tall, dark haired, blue eyed handsome man. He has this overwhelming need to protect the ones he loves and hold them close. And this is what sends him on the path of great burden.

The side characters!!! Oh my gosh I love Lorelei (Lucy's cousin), Breena (Lucy's cousins), Giles, and Xander. All of these amazing characters put together they are the dream team. All of them are witches as well and they are just so witty and smart.

What To Expect:
▪︎ Insta Love 🖤
▪︎ Curses
▪︎ Soulmates
▪︎ Witches
▪︎ Urban Fantasy
▪︎ Alphahero (all the guys who love each cousin are like this)
▪︎ First standalone book in interconnected series
▪︎ Paranormal Romance
▪︎ Samhain
▪︎ All the fall and spooky vibes

This was a cute fall/witchy vibe read for me. I couldn't put it down and it was so quick to read. I only wish there was some more details in some scenes. But other then that. It was a great and fun. I can not wait for the second book, Cauldrons Call, where we will get Breena and Giles' story.

Kristen Proby is an author that I absolutely love. She has a unique way of writing books about families and friends that feel like family. This is no exception.
Lucy Finch lives in Salem and is a bonafide witch. Her two cousins and aunts live nearby and she is part of a coven that is like family. One night she runs into Jonas Morley who seems to just disappear after walking through her property.
Jonas lives in Hallow's End, a town that's been hidden from the rest of the world since the 1600's. Jonas put a spell on the town to save the residents from the Salem Witch Trials. He's been unable to break the spell since then and he's the only person who's able to leave Hallow's End.
Lucy and Jonas are fated to be but can they survive when evil comes to Salem and Hallow's End?
This is a trilogy and I'm looking forward to the next book..
