A great start to a new gangland thriller series. It is fast paced and compelling. It is a page turner. The character development was average.

This is the first book in a new series by this very talented lady, it starts with the fatal shooting of local hard man Terry Tempest. Terry’s wife and sons will stop at nothing to find out why the murder happened and who did it giving the reader a fantastic look into the world of sex trafficking and deception from the very people they trust. I’ve already got book 2 ready to read.

This is my first by the author. A great start to a gang crime series - very fast paced and engrossing.
Tracey is waiting for her husband of many years Terry to return home with his friend and business partner Kenny.
They arrive late, after greeting family and friends, Terry is just about to cut the cake. A shot rings out and Tracey, her sons Ricky and Jamie are shocked to find that Terry is dead. Tracey is determined to get to the bottom of who killed him. As she digs deeper, she finds that Terry, Kenny and the dangerous Murphy family are mixed with many murky dealings which shock her.
The book is a page-turner and I sailed through it very smoothly. The pace was excellent and while the character development was decent - it could have been better. The plot did not hold too many surprises.

The first book in a new series where we meet the Tempest family. Which was an absolute delight to read! I have to say that I am really impressed with how far the author has come since I read one her self published books a few years ago…..This book is absolutely brilliant.

Betrayal is exactly what I would expect a gangland novel to be.It is full of characters that you like love and hate…with the good guys and bad guys. With gripping plot that will have you racing through the pages to get to the end. Talk about keeping me on the edge of my sit.

There is never a dull moment. It is an exciting, easy read full of grit and drama! This is a brilliant start to a series I cannot wait to see what happens next. It is an absolute belter of a read. Fans of this genre are going love it! This is an easy 5 stars from me

Introducing the Tempest family, Kaya's latest addition to the gangland scene! Cue the secrets, deception, murders and betrayal.

Imagine finding out your life for the most part has been a lie.. That's exactly what happens to Tracey Tempest! An out of the blue murder which starts out as a heartbreaking ordeal quickly leaves his family questioning whether Terry got his just deserts!

As expected, Betrayal was a definite page turner. Well written, great characters and I find myself eagerly awaiting the next in the series!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a typical family gangland novel which was great break from the romance books that I have been reading lately.

I read this in only a day as it was extremely easy to read, and I really enjoyed it.

I found Tracey to be very complex and actually really loved reading about her by the end of the book.

This is a typical family gangland novel which I recommend for people like me who are lovers of Martina Cole and Jesse Keane. Extremely gritty and gripping. Sometimes I need a good gangland crime book and this one really hit the spot.

I’m excited to keep up with Kerry Kaya’s new releases!

A really good book. Tracey Tempest loves her husband Terry and her two sons. She decides to throw he husband a surprise fifth birthday party, as the party is going she begins to wonder where Terry is and after he arrives as he gets ready to blow out the candles he is killed. The story takes a turn for Terry after a few days she gets herself together and decides she is going to find out who killed her Terry. This leads her to many different places and she begins to discover that Terry is not all that she thought he was. Wheat is worse she has had to put up with his mother who is a bi—h and is always putting her down, She finds her strength though and when you get to the end you wonder just what will happen. That is the real shocker as everything begins to unravel for the person who she thought was her friend and all of the others who wanted Terry dead, A very good story with good characters that will have you gripped to the pages until the end. Worth the read.

Betrayal is Kerry Kaya's brand new gangland thriller. The beginning of a new series as well! To say I was excited to read this book is an understatement. I have read every book she has written from the beginning of her published career. I haven't found a bad book and don't expect too either.

This book introduces the Tempest family. Tracey is Terry Tempest's adoring wife, she would give anything for him. Together since they were kids, when he is killed at his fiftieth birthday party she is bereft, but boy! Does she want revenge! People are going to discover she won't go quietly.

Set in Dagenham in London we are back in Kerry Kaya's gangland world. A new family who are colourful, larger than life and about to discover you shouldn't trust anyone. I really was addicted from the very first page. Kerry Kaya's writing always has this effect on me. She has the knack of making you feel like you are part of the book. It's an immersive experience, and Betrayal is exactly that.

I always think the book I am reading at the time is the best book Kerry Kaya has written and then the next book is released. That's where I am now. Betrayal is again a well written gangland story. The characters are three dimensional and easy to get to grips with. I was on the same lines as Tracey, she is a woman with some grit herself. No one expects the reaction they get from her and that's such a great base for this story.
There are the characters that are hateful too and boy I was hoping they got their comeuppance at some point.

A fast-paced, gritty and oh, so addictive beginning to the Tempest family story. I am so impatient for book number two now. I do hope its not too far into the future before it's released!
Thanks to Rachel's Random Resources, Boldwood Books and Netgalley.

I’m going to start this review by confessing that I’ve not read any books by this author before, yes I know shame on me ! Well I most certainly will be rectifying that now after finishing Betrayal. This is the first in a brand new gangland crime series by Kerry Kaya. This author is definitely on a par with the likes of Martina Cole , Kimberley Chambers etc. This was a fantastic start to a new series and only after a few pages in I was completely captivated and engrossed in the story. A superbly written story with good strong characters which I know will develop as the series progresses.

Kerry Kaya now firmly sits on the royalty of gangland crime fiction, and when you pick up one of her books you know that she will deliver strong male and female characters, along with a story that will take you on a thriller of a ride and will have plenty of action and twists along the way. This book is the first in a new series and the author has set her foundations down well and I am really looking forward to seeing what journey the characters take.
The author sets all her books in Essex, an area she knows well, and she also likes to have lots of family links within her stories. I really do not know how she also fits in a full time job in the NHS on top of all her writing.
This book is gangland crime so expect serious crimes, foul language and all sides of the gangland families but it also gives pointers to how life can so easily change and although you think you may know people you may never know the real person until they are no longer with us.
If you like UK gangland crime, as I do, you will love this book. It is addictive and you will not be able to put it down.
Many thanks to Boldwood Books, NetGalley and Kerry Kaya for providing me with an electronic advanced copy of the book in return for a honest, unbiased review.
The book is released today in paperback, e-book and audiobook formats
