Great read - captivating from the start.
When Tracey Tempest decides to surprise her husband, Terry, with a 50th birthday surprise, she doesn't expect things to unfold the way they do. Desperate for answers, Tracey works with her 2 sons to try to find out who would want to hurt their family so much. But, with every answer Tracey uncovers, she realizes that her husband had a very different life, one she knew little about.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I have read several of kerry kaya books before they are all blinding.
This is a new series about the tempest family headed with tracey and her two sons.
Tracey husband terry was murdered at his 50th birthday ,terry was adored by tracey and his sons and pals.
BUT who was the real terry tempest ducker and diver or a ruthless villian who did not care about anyone bar his self. Tracey and her sons are determined to find out i cannot wait for the next book in the series.thank you netgallery for letting me read this book five well deserved stars and highly reccommended,
Ihave sent my review to goodreads.

Absolutely cracking read. Never trust anyone no matter how long you've known them. People are not always who they appear to be regardless of how how well you think you know them or how close you are.....as the Tempest family found out!

Fantastic new gangland series, The Tempests family, Dagenham London, meet Tracey and Terry Tempest, with their two sons Ricky and Jamie, as we see Terry's life end tragically on his fiftieth birthday, Tracey wants answers and needs to dig into his past. Her heart has shattered and died with her husband who she has known since she was sixteen years old, and she though she knew everything about her husband, and this is really going to open a can of worms for the family big time with a lot of betrayal and dark secrets.
Max Hardcastle does not trust Terry's best mate and partner Kenny Kempton that also opens up more secrets, as you read on.
Betrayal is one almighty read that is unputdownable right through, full of heartaches, full of action and a full on read, as soon as I started it I knew it would be.
Was sorry to read the slap bang ending but hoping book two won't be long coming around as we learn about more of the characters in the book.
outstanding five stars.

Kerry Kaya has a hit on her hands with Betrayal. This a smooth fast action, jump out of the gate with a funeral for the “good guy”. Or at least his family sure thought he was.
Kerry Kaya brings this family to face the reality of who and what he was, along with the friends he kept company with.
This was so good I had to take my Kindle everywhere I went to keep reading when I got the chance.
This will make a great movie and I would definitely go see it!

I love this authors books and was not disappointed a very good book .Tracey Tempest is married to Terry and she still loves her husband very much they have to grown up son's Ricky and Jamie. Terry has a business partner and old school friend Kenny Kempton. Tracey is throwing a suprise birthday party for Terry and waiting for Kenny to bring him home she can't stand her mother-in-law Patricia who is a very cantankerous woman. Terry arrives with Kenny he hates partys. when he goes to cut the cake his life ends someone shots him. now Tracey is out for blood she wants to know who killed her husband. she thinks its his old childhood friend Maxwell Hardcastle. wont say no more. its so good can't wait for book two

A fabulous read introducing the Tempest family in the first of - hopefully - a new series. Lots if nasty, unscrupulous villains along with some quite strange characters add lots of flavour to the story. The book has definitely been left wide open for more adventures.

This is a typical family gangland novel.
Easy to read, and though quite predictable I still enjoyed it.
If you like authors like Jessie Keane and Alex Kane amongst others then it’s well worth a read.
Tracey is annoyingly naïve in the first 5 chapters, bit unrealistic when together since 16. But she grew on me, can see more of a story with her and Max. The Murphy’s are annoying more then menacing. I would suspect that Georgina will play a more significant role in future books in what I think will be a series.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.

I thought this was a really, really great read and a fab start to a new series. I started it yesterday evening and I just couldn’t put this read down - I’ve read it in less than a day. It was one of those reads I just devoured, the writing, plot line and characters immediately grabbed my attention and held it all the way through. Kerry Kaya certainly knows how to connect with her readers through her writing. I feel like her characters just became alive and jumped out of the pages and story and were so vivid and real in my mind. As always, there is a wide range of characters, some I really liked and rooted for and others I hated and couldn’t wait for them to get their come uppance. Tracey Tempest, as the main character was likeable, feisty, determined and realistically portrayed and will stop at nothing to find out who was responsible for her husbands murder. The book had everything I love - wonderful writing, an all to believable and realistic plot line, characters you just take to heart and really like and I found the more I read the more I enjoyed this book. I read over half of this book last night and I don’t do that very often, with this one I genuinely could not put it down! The story raced to a thrilling conclusion, with most loose ends tied up and the ones that weren’t I hope will be addressed in the next book. A wonderful start to a new series and I definitely will want to read the next book. This book was an absolute pleasure and joy to read and I can’t recommend it highly enough if you are a fan of gangland crime books.

Absolutely fantastic story. Highly addictive storyline with awesome twists throughout. It does contain a dark side. Fast paced detailed book. Couldn’t put it down.

A new series is always a combination of two things : saying goodbye to the previous characters and saying hello to a new family. So I, for one, was very curious what the author was going to treat me to, because the books I have read by her hand, were gems, each and everyone of them.

Let’s meet the Tempests. 😊

There is dad Terry, a ‘businessman. If you are a fan of gangland crime, you probably already have a feeling what kind of business he could be involved in. He is married to Tracey who adores him and together they have two sons Ricky and Jaimie, who work with their father.

When a member of your family dies, it’s a tragedy, but when a loved one is murdered in cold blood during  his birthday party, it’s even harder. Why did he have to die? Who is responsible?

Tracey wants to know who the culprit is and with the help of her sons she is out for revenge.

The question rises again: how well do you know someone?

A lot of people are able to hide behind a smoke screen and nobody even realises it. Digging in someone’s history can make you love them even more or despise them from the bottom of your heart.

It’s hight time to put an end to one era and start creating a new one.

It’s hard to say you like characters in a gangland crime story, because they are often not very kind, but sometimes a few of them have a heart of gold underneath that cold exterior. They are ruthless when they defend what is theirs, whether it’s family or possessions, but some of them admit there are boundaries that have to be respected.

So yes, I like the ones with that soft heart and the iron armour.  😊

A great first book of this new series. I enjoyed it a lot. 5 stars

Thank you

Kerry Kaya has done it again with this brilliant book and is rapidly becoming one of my favourite gangland authors. This is the first of a new series in which we meet the Tempest family. After her husband is shit dead in cold blood Tracey Tempest, along with her two sons Ricky and Jamie, is determined to find out what her late husband Terry was really up to and why someone would want him dead. . Who should she trust is the big question? Gritty, gripping, violent and with some great characters I couldn’t put this down. . Definitely one for those who like a good gangland book that will keep you hooked. Can’t wait for the next one in the series. Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.
