This book is an addition to the Wild Wynchester series by Erica Ridley that is entertaining and witty. Ms Sybil Stamper is a member of what is considered a "bluestsocking reading group" which has been self-named as The Heist Club. The women in the group often times find themselves in the middle of efforts to solve crimes or wrong-doings happening to friends. Most often the help of the Wild Wynchesters is needed to help pull off a rescue of person or property. This addition to the series is another enjoyable read where the sometimes devious or comical methods utililized to solve the crime can bring a smile to the reader's face. Thank you to NetGalley and Web Motion for the opportunity to read and review this advance reader copy. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #TheModisteMishap #NetGalley

I didn't realize this was a part of a larger series when I began reading. I quickly read the Governess Gambit as recommended in the first pages of this book. I wish I had the chance to read the other related books that came first. I think it would make this book even more enjoyable. I'm glad I was at least able to read one so I got a brief intro to other characters.

That being said, this was a cute, clean, fun novella to read. The characters are entertaining. Sybil and her book club friends help solve the mystery of the stolen dresses from the modist. I wish this was a longer book. It could have been even better if the author had a chance to really develop the plot and characters more. But overall enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for the read.

The Modiste Mishap is a cute, short novella mystery. Sybil and her reading group solve the mystery of some stolen ball gowns with the help of the Wild Wynchesters.

Sybil Stamper is just one of the rather large reading group, unofficially called the Heist Club, after the events from a previous story. She's not part of the ton but she does want to attend the ball and has commissioned a dress from an up-and-coming dressmaker using all the money she has saved. By chance she meets the top modiste in town who during their meeting discovers all the dresses she's making for the upcoming ball have been stolen. And so Sybil and friends turn their talents towards solving the mystery.

This is another novella featuring the Wild Wynchesters which goes at a much slower pace than the previous Heist Club tale. It's another quick read and is easy to enjoy without having too much background from earlier tales. Similar to the previous novella, this hints at romance but is all about the mystery.

A fun romp, although not quite so madcap. Thank you to Netgalley and Webmotion for the advanced reader copy. I have provided this review voluntarily.

Another small novella (book 2.5) including the Wild Wynchesters and members of Phillipa's bluestocking book club. Sybil has saved up to buy a new ball gown. Her family aren't members of the ton but just once she wan'ts to have the experience of being dressed in a great outfit, meeting men and having the start of a romance. Sybil goes to an up and coming modiste and orders a dress, She also passes the top dress designer and helps her when that courtier has her dresses stolen. Sybil asks the book club and the Wynchesters to help. As I've noticed with previous books in the series the author brings in the heroine from book 3 as a taster. The mystery is solved but I was disappointed that there was only the hint of a HEA for Sybil.

The stories are entertaining. I think it's almost essential to have read the others in the series to make the links but I can't help feel a bit short changed as it's just one episode in a larger arc.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A sweet mystery book! The story takes place around a group that “isn’t” called the heist club! A group of friends come together to solve a crime. Not many twists but is a wholesome surprise for the main character for her dreams coming true.

This is another great book in this series. Love the cozy mystery of this and we still get all the side characters that add in the fun. Strong female lead(s) and got to love the club!
Love that we get some extra scenes with these spinoff!

I received an advanced reader’s copy of The Modiste Mishap by Erica Ridley.

This is a charming prequel to the novel Nobody’s Princess. It is a quick read and the plot was engaging. Even though it’s a short story, I felt like Sybil Stamper was well-developed as a character. This story focuses on the missing objects and there is no romance, only a hint of of a possible one at the end.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed reading The Wild Wynchesters series and this is a lovely addition because we get to see more of them and their group of friends.

Same problems as the Rake book I just read. No character depth, rush to the end, barest of plots, and non6existent world building. For all the promise this series shows, it is clear the author lacks the time and talent to write anything more than fluff designed to sell books to unsuspecting women.

I received an ARC of Erica Ridley's "The Modiste Mishap" from Netgalley and voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book. This is a unique book in that there is no hero or heroine but rather an intelligent young lady, Sybill, who loves books, keeping lists, and helping others. In this story, the Heist Club helps a modiste find her rich clients dresses that have all been stolen from her boutique.

I don’t usually love novellas, but I have found all of those written by Erica Ridley to be wonderful, and this one is no exception! This is a fun, lighthearted, girl-gang novella that while being face paced, doesn’t feel rushed. Sybil is a sweetheart and I enjoyed her analytical nature. I like how this references to the other books in the series while also standing on its own. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

One of my favorites in this series. It was full of action and unexpected turns. Sybil was easy to fall in love with and it was satisfying to learn her fate. Book provided by NetGalley.

The second book in the Heist Club series. This is Miss Sybil Stamper turn to shine as she solves the mystery she has uncovered. Another great story of drama, humor, unpredictable people, and a fun story to read. I hope there is going to be more in this series. I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Dress Caper is a fun story. Yes the Wynchesters are involved. But it is the reading circle that is front and center in this one. Sybil has ordered a new gown in hopes of being noticed at a ball. During her duties for the reading library, she runs into the modiste to the rich. Books bring them together. That is how Sybil finds out the gowns for a ball have been stolen. How can she locate the missing dresses? What a good story!

Novella featuring a gang of 19th century women who help right wrongs. Far-fetched? Yes, but fun with lots of action. A fashionable dressmaker has had her collection stolen and the ladies gang up to discover the culprit and recover the dresses before the aristo grand ball of the year. There are lots of characters and personalities and it's a frolicsome romp. Thanks to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A light-hearted caper set in the Wild Wynchester Regency Romance Series. Who else are you going to turn to when a modiste's entire collection of dresses for the Season are stolen? Well, of course the Wynchesters who bring justice and solve other problems. With the help of the Heist reading circle of course. After all, one of their members brought the issue to the Wynchester's attention.

This is a light-hearted and quick read. There is no romance in this story but fill-in some of the wild capers that are often referenced in the series. You don't need to have read any of the Wynchester series but it does provide some context and why wouldn't you. It is a good series that has plot, romance and of course, a Wynchester caper somewhere in the story to just add that special something something.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This was a fun and light Regency quick read novella. I didn’t realize it was the second book in a series, but I thought it worked very well as a stand alone. It is about young woman, Sybil., She isn’t just a wallflower, she would be very comfortable sitting in a corner behind the wallflowerss reading a book or making a list. She doesn’t have anything nice enough to be seen in at the upcoming ball or just ,in general, when she is around members of the ton. Th ey treat her so poorly since she doesn’t have nice clothes. She is a member of the local reading club and has read everything on their shelves at least five times.she has put everything in her order. Made lists of all the books. She has small satelight libraries that she tends.. One of those small libraries is located in the local cobbler’s shop. He collects the money for the books. It was here she ran into the Parisian modiste favored by the ton to design the newest and exclusive designs for the ton’s coming out ballsSybil runs into her at the shop looking at her books. It’s only a matter of time they become best of friends. Well needless to say there are some misadventures that can only be takin care of by Sybil and her reading circle of friends. I can recommend to anyone who wants to pick up a Regency novella to read. Special thanks to #NetGalley, #ThreModisteMishap #EricaRidley for allowing me an early e-book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
