When I realized I had once again stumbled my way into reviewing a fake dating RomCom, I was ready to throw in the towel. It is pretty hard to come by a romantic comedy that isn’t a part of the fake dating trope. At least that seems to be the case for me. I have never been a fan of it, but it is a tale as old as time. Literally. I blame it all on “The Taming of the Shrew” honestly. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE 10 Things I Hate About You, but I feel like fake dating has changed and evolved into something that is just so unoriginal that I generally can’t stand it. All of that being said, Lovelight Farms proved me wrong.

Where the lovelight gleams…

I think one of the most ironic things about this review is that, as I just ranted on about, I generally don’t like fake dating, but I also am not a huge sucker for Christmas. I enjoy the holiday just fine. Even more-so now that my wedding anniversary is so close to the day, but it isn’t my favorite holiday. So, a fake dating book set around a Christmas tree farmer would seem like the last thing I would enjoy. I’m not sure what B.K. Borison put into this book that made it so good, but I am pretty sure I am addicted. It felt cozy and warm, and it made me want to go buy a Christmas tree right now in the middle of September.

Friends to Lovers
I think what made this book so different from others I have come across is the fact that it is friends to lovers. It isn’t two people who barely know each other, or workplace enemies, or something of that nature. These two are long term, super adorable best friends who clearly love each other. Honestly, this book was perfectly balanced. There wasn’t too much of the miscommunication trope that generally goes hand in hand with fake dating. There wasn’t an overly obnoxious amount of the whole “There’s no way he could actually like me! He’s faking it all!!” that normally makes me want to scream. It was truly Stella struggling with the idea of being loveable, and not wanting to lose yet another person.

Sweet and Spicy
I also thought that this book was the perfect amount of sweet and spicy! There were tons of swoon worthy moments that had be giggling like a little girl, but the spice wasn’t lacking either. It wasn’t anything intense over the top, but it was a great relief for the unbelievable amount of sexual tension that was in this book. Lovelight Farms was extremely well written, and it really blew me away. I feel like a lot of the times I don’t expect romantic comedies to be really great works of literature, but I loved Borison’s style of writing, and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series.

Narration
Pippa Jayne narrated this book, and I really enjoyed her style. It felt just right for this book! She did a great job with the emotions in Stella’s voice, though her voice for any make character was just okay, I really enjoyed her narration. It really brought the book to life!

“lovelight farms” is one of the few series that i’ve recommended starting from the very beginning. all of its sequels still center around lovelight farms so it’s nice to get to know each character because they have appearances in the other novels. i started off with “in the weeds” and ended up stopping a little less than halfway through to listen to stella and luca’s story before returning to evie and beckett’s. i’ve always been on the fence about friends-to-lovers trope but maybe that’s because i’ve never known everyone in my hometown long enough to have a friendship evolve into something more. anyways, “lovelight farms” has changed that for me!

i love everything about stella, luca, and their relationship! it was heartwarming to see how quickly (and easily) luca would do anything to help stella out. it didn’t even feel like their fake-relationship was forced because they know so much about each other. i also thought it was very sweet how stella already knows luca’s family, and all of them were cheering on their relationship! now that i’ve finished this novel, i’m even more excited to dive back into “in the weeds” for evie and beckett’s story. lovelight farms feels like such a welcoming, cozy community and i would love to be transported back!

I timed out on this one before I got a chance to download it. but I wanted to read it. So I went and found the audiobook on my own .I really liked this book. Finding love on a christmas tree farm really is what dreams are made of. I plan on giving this to my book club as one of our books during the holiday season.!!!

I really enjoyed this cute friends to lovers story following the owner of a Christmas tree farm. Seeing them work together to save the business from financial ruin, while coming to terms with their obvious relationship was lovely.

I so LOVED this sweet story of friends become lovers. The characters are well written and you felt like you really got to know and understand them. I fell in love with the small town in a way that I don’t know that I could’ve ever done had I not uprooted from a big city to a small suburban/semi-rural town myself. The beauty of the surrounding nature alone can be transformative and I thought that was captured well with this story. You could definitely feel the heat and tension building between Stella and Luka. Some sweet, steamy and at times spicy love scenes. I’m so glad that this is the first in the series and I will be looking forward to more.

This holiday romance has been blowing up on bookstagram, and for good reason! It's the perfect blend of seasonal vibes, swoon-worthy romance, and spice. It follows several popular tropes including fake dating, friends to lovers, and a small town setting.

At times, I felt that the Stella's denial of her feelings towards Luka was too heavy handed, which made the second half of this book frustrating for me as a reader.

All of that being said, this is a really cute holiday romance filled with charming secondary characters and a creative plot. I recommend this one if you're looking for a sweet romance to squeeze in before Christmas!

Lovelight Farms, by B.K. Borodin.. was a delightful book to listen to. Stella Bloom, bought this tree farm to bring it back to the way she used to know it. She used to love it as a young girl and thinks she can bring the magic back. She has the ambtion, work ethic and tr helping her make this thing profitable. Only thing is, she seems to be jinxed with farm mishaps that are wearing her patience thin. It happens that there is an Instagram er throwing a $100,000 contest to help get the financials and the farm back on track. With her submission to enter the contest.. she says she owns the farm with her boyfriend.. Now she has to find a boyfriend, keep the finances a secret from her team. Stella has her best friend help her with the boyfriend part, but now she has to get the other issues in line. This was a good read and I thought Pippa Jayne did an excellent job narrating. I want to thank Netgalley and Dreamscape for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to listen and review this book. This was a four star read for me. I hope you enjoy it as much as ai did.

Thanks so much for my copy! I enjoyed the characters, story, and setting, far more than the sequel! I read these out of order but really enjoyed the first one!

I was having a hard time listening in the beginning. I just wasn’t clicking with the narrator. Once I started to feel more invested in the characters, I was able to read with no problem. This is a cute friends to lovers/ fake dating holiday romance. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the opportunity to read in exchange for a review.

My 3rd read of Lovelight Farms was just as magical as the first time I read it. I just cannot get enough of this story and I was so excited to read the bonus chapter 🥵 Luka will forever be the best book boyfriend in my eyes. I had a smile on my face from the very first chapters and I think it’s safe to say this is my TOP read of the year - I mean, I’ve read it 3 times since January so you know where I stand with this one. I absolutely LOVE it ❤️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ All the stars.

Thank you @netgalley and @dreamscape_media for providing a free copy of the audiobook so I could listen while reading. I thoroughly loved the experience.

What a fantastic debut. I’m not the biggest fan of best friends to lovers trope but this story when combined with fake dating changed my mind. Everything is better with fake dating. It has secret longing, simmering sexual tension with glimpses of their shared experiences - swoon!

Such a charming read from the tree farm, to the town, to all the side characters. I’m hooked on this series. Luka is true book boyfriend material. He’s so patient with Stella while she slowly comes around to seeing what’s been right in front of her the whole time.

I listened to an ALC and loved the narration by Pippa Jayne. She narrated the story perfectly to emphasize the charming essence of it.

There was so much that worked for me here. The entire tone/vibe in general is just flawless. This IS Gilmore Girls in a book - it's cozy, it's zany, it's feel-good. I think my favorite part of the story itself was the town and all the side characters. The phone tree?? Amazing. The betting pool?? I love. It's basically Stars Hollow 2.0 and I wanna visit.

I also think the writing here is insanely good. B.K. Borison writes tightly and balances the emotional with the lighthearted in a fantastic way.

She also set up book two in such a fun way that has me itching to read In the Weeds (will probably wait until the beginning of springtime to read!). Can't wait for Beckett and I love the back story she's already given to him and Evelyn - it made me laugh so hard.

However (lol), at the end of the day I did have a couple issues with the main couple which is why I am giving four stars not five. To me, Stella and Luka are already practically married by the time the book starts; therefore, I felt that there was nowhere for their relationship to grow throughout the book. They already knew everything about each other and were already so comfortable with each other, so I kept saying out loud to myself, "just get together". I know there is an inherent tension with best friends to lovers to not wanting to mess up the friendship slash I know they were long-distance friends, but with these two it really seemed like those were easy to overcome issues like they were both so clearly in love with each other.

Basically, I loved everything about this book besides the couple themselves who I did like, but had a couple of issues with. Overall I'm so excited to continue reading the series!

It took a bit to get into the groove with this one. The first half of the book was really slow, and I felt like there wasn't much action happening. I like the trope fake dating so that got me super excited and then when it was with her best friend - sign me up! The second half is really where this book came alive. I love how the relationship between Luka and Stella grew as a couple. I got really frustrated with Stella because she just couldn't get it in her head that their relationship should be real even after countless times Luka proved otherwise. One area where BK soared was the intimate times between Luka and Stella. I thought they were written beautifully. It seemed like a forced storyline and therefore kind of hit the mark for me.
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.

Have you ever read a more perfect book for the holiday season? Lovelight Farms, is magical, nostolgic, and full of romance.

I loved the small town featured in this book, I think that was one of my favourite parts. Stella and Luka are perfect holiday romance characters, and the farm, and friends will win your heart.

The only negative for me was the miscommunication trope.

(3.5⭐️) So much too enjoy. Luca was delicious. Oh but Stella... she was a tad exhausting.

Narrated by Pippa Jayne, the audiobook was exceptionally executed. Her portrayal kept me hanging on to the story even in those moments of frustration with the main character. I'll be seeking out other books narrated by Pippa.

This book feels like reading a hallmark or Netflix holiday romance movie. It was sweet, slow, and just a relaxing read. I wasn’t surprised by much, and not overly invested, but it was light and enjoyable.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
