After Dark with Roxie Clark is a great mystery full of twists that take you on a wild ride like a rollercoaster! I was on the edge of my seat and questioning everyone's motives and what secrets they may behold!
I loved how the author twisted the ghost stories within the novel, the stories included added a creepy aspect!
Roxie gives ghost tours about her ancestors, who had abrupt and bewildering deaths over the past 150 years. Her sister has been grieving for her once boyfriend for over a year, but times are changing. While Skylar is hunting for her boyfriend's murder, Roxie is there to render aid!
This was a fun listen! I want to thank Dreamscape Media for the extraordinary opportunity to listen and review this one, it was a surprising treat!

I loved this book as an off beat Halloween-y mystery/thriller. Roxie is infatuated with the curse that is supposedly on the women in her family and she profits from it, quite literally, by running a ghost tour in her town where her dead relatives are the star of the show.

Her older sister, Skyler, is the latest unfortunate Clark woman. But instead of Skyler dying, it was her boyfriend, and his unsolved murder has brought her into a depression that threatens to derail all of her life plans.

When an artifact from her late-boyfriend sparks an interest in Skyler to solve this cold case, Roxie is dragged into whether she wants to be or not as Roxie's best friend is Skyler's number one suspect.

There were a lot of great twists and turns in the investigation and big reveals that I didn't see coming. This is a wonderful, dark and creepy, YA thriller and a great listen on audio!

I really enjoyed reading After Dark With Roxie Clark. Roxie, the protagonist, has all the traits that I love in a character. She is independent, stubborn, and a little odd. The story itself was full of unexpected twists and turns and I had a hard time putting it down. Overall, this is one of the better YA books that I have read this year and I think others will enjoy it as well. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This is Book 28 of 30 for September participating in the Bookopoly Readathon

After dark with roxie clark was fast paced with twist and turns. Roxie has always feed into the town rumors about her family especially about her and her sister. She embraces it to the point she has her own hunted ghost tour and she has the stories but she gets to add what she feels also happen to lead to the myth of each story.
When one night her sisters boyfriend was murdered and everything gets turned upside down. Her sister knows something more happen and is convinced they need to solve the murder. Roxie and Skyler try to back track the events leading up to his death so solve what happen to Colin once and for all.

This is a perfect Halloween/fall read. it’s set during Halloween in a small full of ghosts and secrets that resurrect themselves.

This was a A+ story and its one you don't quite see coming.

Thank you NetGalley for this Audio Arc in exchange for my honest review.

This book is absolutely fantastic. I really didn’t know what to expect but as I started getting into this one I started to realize I was completely hooked from the first chapter.
Roxie Clark is just your average seventeen year old, that is, if you aren’t counting the dead bodies she has seen. She is a member of the Clark family, supposedly all cursed. Most of her ancestors met tragic ends to their lives. Her own mother included. So, Roxie has taken her disturbing family history and her enjoyment of performing and combined them together into a successful ghost tour. However, her tour never touches upon one death, the most recent of the bodies she has seen, that of her sister Skylar’s boyfriend, Colin Riley, who was found murdered in a cornfield.
One year after the murder Roxie is desperate to help Skylar begin to heal and find closure to what happened. However, Skylar instead becomes fixated with discovering who the killer is.The sisters team up and dig into the truth. When looking for the truth though things come out that may have been left uncovered.
I can’t tell you too much more about this book but it’s really good. I was in tears at some points and even laughed a time or two. The end leaves you thinking thoughts as well but I won’t tell you what those might be!
Definitely recommend giving this one a chance if you haven’t. It’s worth it!

This book was definitely a surprised and I enjoyed it so much. I couldn’t stop listening to it and needed to know how everything was going to go. I loved Roxie so much and definitely related to her. The Clark curse and Roxie’s ghost tour was such a fun little add to the story and I would definitely be down to go on that tour. It did feel a little predictable at times and the twist felt a little eh, but I still overall enjoyed this book. It was a fun listen to during spooky season.

I really enjoyed this twisty small town mystery, it was super engaging and hard to put down. Not only did the mystery surprise me when I thought I had it all figured out, but Roxie was a very fleshed out character that I felt like I knew and rooted for. I am a sucker for character driven books and while this was a mystery, it was completely character driven. Not only do I feel like I know Roxie, but all the side characters were just as detailed and complex and messy as well.

I feel a little like the ending was super rushed with all the slow build up of the rest of the novel, it did not fit as well and was a little anticlimactic. But that being said, the story was still very enjoyable and completely worth the read. I look forward to more from the author.

I listened to this as an audio and I recommend the audio version if you like to listen to books. The narrator did a great job of bringing Roxie to life and a good job of making voices for the side characters as well.

This was so good! The opening scene alone will grab your attention but as the story goes on, and the investigation unfolds, things get crazy! I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for their next murder mystery!

The audio was great and definitely recommend listening if you get a chance!

Davis really knows how to draw the reader in, I was hooked from the beginning! I liked Roxie's ghost tours and obsession with her family's so-called 'curse.' The murder was so close to home for her and it was interesting having the main character have a lot of access to information about what happened.

On the other side we have Roxie's sister Skylar and I was not a fan. I can understand being in a bad state after your boyfriend is murdered, but she went off the rails and took everything too far. Someone needed to step in and stop her before another person died.

The pacing was quick and I just wanted to fly through this to see who the killer was. I did think the ending didn't resolve a couple of things and could have been a bit tighter, but I enjoyed this a lot overall!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the copy.

I loved this one! The characters were frustrating and loveable at the same time and I wasn't expecting the twist at all. I mean, It was so well-layered that it didn't seem out of nowhere when it all unraveled. Would 100% read another Lauren Davis book!

The book definitely kept me on my toes! I didn’t see that plot twist coming. But even with the fact that the characters are kids it’s hard to imagine them being willing to keep such a HUGE, heavy secret just because it was someone’s dying wish when that wish was ruining everyone’s life. Also, Skylar was incredibly unlikable. I know how grief can be consuming and empathize with wanting justice but even before Colin’s murder she seemed awful so I couldn’t find it in myself to understand or even excuse her tunnel vision on Tristan. I loved Roxie. Except how she gave into Skylar. But she was herself always no matter what and that was admirable. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can’t wait to see what the author shares with us next.

If you’re looking for a slow burn mystery with a complex sister relationship, this book is for you!

I think my issue with this was like the pieces didn’t all click as satisfying as I wanted them to. This was definitely more a story about grief, sisters, and friendship then a nail biting thriller.

After Dark With Roxie Clark was A quick YA read about a teenage girl whose family is cursed and runs a ghost tour in Indiana. I liked Roxie and Tristan, but this turned into more of a mystery than a spooky read. I wanted real ghosts, but I still enjoyed the audiobook.

I know I say this a lot, yet again here we are with me saying I do not know how I want to rate this book because I don’t have strong feelings either way. This was another “meh” for me. I will admit that I was invested enough to want to know who the murderer was so I continued reading even though I found the main characters & the narrator unlikeable.
I had to keep reminding myself that this is an YA book and the characters are teenager. Roxie didn’t bother me as much as Skylar. The character trait I hate the most, no matter what genre, is when someone gives up their dreams that they have worked for their entire life for someone else (including breakups or death). It is okay to mourn but completely giving up when you’ve earned something is pathetic.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book so a lot of my annoyance came from the narrator. She sounded like a middle age woman trying to sound like a valley girl from the 90’s…imagine if Cher from Clueless was reading the story in her Cher voice ughhh. No one enunciates their words like that unless they were part of that era. Which I think would only work if this was supposed to be set in the 90’s and Roxie as an adult was telling the story now. But that’s not the case.
I received a copy of this audiobook from Netgalley and Dreamscape Media, these are my honest options on the book.

Brooke Lauren Davis did a wonderful job with this story. My first Brooke Lauren Davis novel and I'm a fan.
It is a perfect mix of spooky, thriller, mystery, grief, relationships, and humour.
I loved that it was a quick read and the story was focused. I was impressed. Not only did I enjoy it, I didn't want to stop listening. I found this whodunnit to be absolutely delightful and the twist at the end was just right.

Great narration by Jordan Killam. Perfect voice and tone. I felt her voice helped bring Roxie to life.

Thanks you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the AudioARC.

After finishing this book (my second by the author), Brooke Lauren Davis has made it to my auto-read list. I love the way she crafts her mysteries and builds suspense throughout her writing. The characters were well developed, and I could not wait to figure out the whodunnit of this one. There were a couple somewhat unbelievable events that happened towards the end that weakened the ending a bit, but overall this was a very solid read for me!

Loved this! I loved the mystery aspect of this book. I did figure it out quickly but I did still love this book.

I really enjoyed this. I loved the quirky realness of the characters, especially Roxy. This is a fantastic Halloween read.

It is a unique story. My only complaint is that something felt off about the pacing, especially in the middle. It dragged just a bit.

The mystery is compelling. I didn't always agree with all of the character's choices, but I am an adult judging the actions of teenagers who have been put through a lot. I have the perspective that they don't have yet and, in that sense, their choices are honest. I applauded Brooke Lauren Davis for that honesty.

This was lovely as an audiobook. Jordan Killam does a beautiful job narrating.

4.5 rounded to 5.

Thank you to Brooke Lauren Davis, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for a chance to read this book.

When the only thing worst than ghosts are the monsters you don't notice: the ones you hang out with, the ones you love. When pain & jealousy run deep, choices create dangers. When belief in your beliefs in others is the only way to uncover the truth.

This was such a delight from start to finish! I loved Roxie's quirky nature, I LOVED the ghost tour and family curse elements, and I thought it did such a fantastic job balancing the fun and addicting mystery and coming of age with the more serious aspects of grief and loss and the way that changes a person.
