I really enjoyed this one. It was an interesting story and I love learning so much about it through Roxie's ghost tours. It was a really fun story that kept moving.

This is the perfect YA mystery for Halloween! We follow our main character, Roxie Clark, who loves all things spooky and has made a ghost tour based on her town's dark legends (we love an entrepreneur). Her sister Skylar is grieving the gruesome murder of her boyfriend Collin, but when given a note that he supposedly wrote, Skylar suspects it's Tristan, his half-brother. Skylar seems to come alive and drags Roxie into her quest for vengeance. The only problem?? Tristan is Roxie's best friend.

This book was incredible. I was fully immersed while listening and could stop. I loved the glimpses of Roxie's ghost tour and how the stories really set the dark, eerie tone for the whole book. The plot twist totally blew me away. I would not have guessed it at all, and the way it came together was beautiful. You can't help but get invested in the Clark sister's journey and love them both. Skylar's grief felt very raw, and Roxie's confusion and guilt were so real, you couldn't help but sympathize with them both in this story. I hope we get another story with them again.

I was, admittedly, hesitant about this one at first. When they first discussed the murder and how brutal it was it seemed so..odd for a small town. In the end I really enjoyed it. I loved the little ghost stories that were included in it and it made for the most perfect fall read.

I really loved how the grandma handled their grief too. Not telling them it’ll be ok or it happens for a reason, just holding them. Grief can be a delicate subject and the author handled it brilliantly.

🌀Synopsis
Roxie Clark is convinced her family has a curse. They have a tumultuous past, with lots of ghost stories to prove it. I’m fact, Roxie shares these with the town as her business. There’s one person she doesn’t include on her tour and that’s her sister, Skylar’s, boyfriend Colin. He was found murdered in a cornfield and Roxie’s sister can’t move on.
When Skylar threatens to quit school, Roxie remembers the gift he’d bought for her and decides it’s time she has it. The note, however, spurs her sister into a witch-hunt to find out who killed him. The number one suspect- Colin’s brother Tristan- who Roxie is in love with.
Together, Skylar and Roxie dig for clues wherever they can. When they happen to find missing money from a bank robbery pieces start to fall into place. Roxie is stuck between her sister and Tristan until the truth finally reveals itself and the girls are able to move on.

the clark family is cursed, or at least that’s what the entire town believes. however, the most recent victim of this curse isn’t actually a clark; it’s skyler clark’s boyfriend. while roxie clark is a lover of all things ghostly and spooky, skyler wants nothing to do with it. that’s why it’s so surprising when skyler takes a sudden interest in finding her boyfriends killer and the two sisters must work together to solve the mystery.

this is a very fast paced ya mystery/thriller and it’s very captivating. all of the twists were so good and i spent the whole last half on the edge of my seat. it’s also a good look at grief and family on top of the action and excitement which i love.

i highly recommend this for spooky season!

thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an audio arc in exchange for an honest review!

4.5 After Dark with Roxie Clark is the perfect book for spooky season, Roxie is a highschooler who's family is cursed, the woman have either died, or had very tragic deaths in their lives. Roxie is a gothic angsty girl who gives ghosts tours and is in love with Tristan her next-door neighbor. Roxies sister, Skylar is dating Tristans brother and then one day Collin, Tristans brother is found dead in the cornfield.
I had the pleasure to listen to this book and the narrator was fantasitc!
The ending was a good twist and I felt this book is more about grief and loss and less about the creepy vibes it portrays. I would consider this a mystery mixed with a thriller.

A twisty and fun atmospheric read that is just crying out to be read during Spooky Season!

This is YA, I would say, and it touches on a lot of important issues, family and otherwise.

If you like spooky stuff or true crime, check this out!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to listen and review. Narration was great!

I love all type of mysteries and I especially like any books that have surprise twists at the end. I hate knowing halfway through a book how it will end and then finish the book with no surprises. This book did not disappoint. The end was definitely not what I expected and honestly, it kinda of broke my heart. This book shows how family can be defined by how you make it. Not having a "typical" family (what is that even??!!) can turn out two very different ways for the main characters. The supposed curse that the Clark family has, only makes the three remaining Clarks even stronger as they learn how to truly support and love each other. And they solve a murder along the way.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me review the audiobook ARC of this book.

This story was a great book to read leading up to spooky season, as it is set during Halloween, and the main character Roxie, loves a good ghost story and even has her own ghost tour. She's interested in her family history, as the Clark women tend to die young and tragically (or those around them), and some even think they are cursed. The previous year, her sister's boyfriend was found murdered, but the murderer was never found.

The thrill of the mystery kept me reading/listening, and I was invested in each of the characters. While this is a mystery, I would also say it's a tale of grief and how that grief can affect a whole family. This is not a supernatural story.

The audio narrator does a good job giving a voice to each character, though I thought Roxie sounded more like a 13-year-old.

The whodunnit is fantastic, but what really shines is the story telling. This blindsided me. REALLY enjoyed it. I couldn’t put it down.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Net Galley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest opinion.
I enjoyed After Dark With Roxie Clark. I think the characters are well developed. I liked the story line-twisty turn-y. I listened to this book and found my self driving slower so I could keep listening. I felt like I was in the sleepy little town of Whistler. Roxie and her After Dark Tour was new, fresh, and interesting. I'd go on the tour. I loved the relationships between the characters. If you are looking for a spooky read this Halloween, give this one a try. You won't be disappointed.

3.5/5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to listen to this book on audio in exchange for a honest review.

The audible portion of this book sounded echoey at some parts at x2 speed. I also slowed it down to x1.75 and it was better. This may be due to listening to these books on the NetGalley app but could be the same on a commercial audio app. I found at higher speeds the audio echoed. However, if you slow the speed down it is fine.

This book follows our main character Roxie Clark. Roxie runs a ghost tour adventure in her town that focuses on her family’s tragic history. But don’t read more into that plot line as it doesn’t play a role in the mystery of this book at all.

Roxie’s friend Collin died tragically of homicide and her sister skyler has never quite gotten over it. Trying to soothe her sister Roxie and Tristen (collins brother) look through collins things and find a necklace and a note. Roxie decided to give this to skyler. However, the note wasn’t sweet and was actually a breakup letter. This begins our decent into skyler and Roxie teaming up to figure out who killed Collin. And skylers number one suspect is no other then Tristen his brother.

I found this book to be pretty gripping about half way through. However, the ending kinda fell out for me. I found it to be unrealistic and I won’t spoil it in this review. I just think the ending became rushed and the author wanted a “happy ever after” ending type for the characters but rarely in life does that happen. So it’s an ok read for me.

Roxie Clark is a seventeen year old girl from a supposedly cursed family. She's seen several dead bodies already in her short life. This tells the story of of how Roxie takes her life experiences and incorporates them into a ghost tour she gives.

Thank you so much to net galley for sending me a copy of this audiobook book. At first I wasn’t super into it but as the pages turn the more the world fell away. Definitely a memorable read for me!

This was an engaging read with a very intriguing premise that from the moment I heard of I knew I had to read! I loved Roxie having a ghost tour business and how there was this whole believed-to-be curse in her family! The twists weren't so twisty in my opinion but I enjoyed investigating with Roxie! The characters weren't too likeable but there was a lot of family/siblings complicated relationships which made for an interesting story. Overall, it was a solid read! Definitely going to read whatever the author writes next!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for providing me with this ALC.

This book was great. Especially for spooky season. Fast paced YA murder mystery. Roxie is a member of the cursed Clark family where most of the woman in her ancestry meet a tragic end, and Roxie tells their stories as part of her ghost tour. When her sister becomes fixated on her boyfriends murderer, Roxie has no choice but to help. This book had excellent vibes and an even greater twist.

I want to thank the publishers, and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this audiobook in return for an honest review.

This was a solid 4/5 star book for me. I really enjoyed, it and was never really bored.

This book follows Roxie, a Goth-ish 17 year old that is obsessed with the with the local lore, and her families mysterious curse that seems to end the Clark womens' lives.

Roxie, her sister Skylar, and their neighbors Collin and Tristen are all pretty good friends. Skyler and Collin are dating, Skyler is getting ready for Yale, and Roxie and Tristen are best friends (maybe more???) That is until a string of robberies leads to Collins death which was gruesome to say the least.

After Collin is found murdered in a burning corn field Skyler is lost and isolates herself for a year until Roxie gives her a reason to fight again. This is where the story really starts, Skyler and Roxie trying to find Collin's killer.

I thought for a YA thriller this book was really good. It kept me entertained the entire time, and I actually really appreciated the twist as to who killed Collin. I had my suspicions towards the end but I didn't know for sure until the end.

I will say this book does info dump quite a few times but that doesn't bother me in a book. I didn't really like Skylar's character all that much at first but I understand why she is the way she is. I felt like she was annoying and was just as blinded by bias as she claimed Roxie was. I feel like therapy should have been utilized before the epilogue but again understand why they book left it out.

Overall I think this is a great book of anyone that like YA Thrillers, with a tough of folklore, and ghost stories. It reminded me a little of a Good Girls Guide to Murder so if you liked that you may also like this.

Spooky, twisty, and romantic- this had a little bit of everything! Roxie Clark and her sister’s relationship was layered and imperfect, which I found totally refreshing. I rest enjoyed the parts about Roxie’s family history, I could have listened to those stories all day! I’d definitely take Roxie’s haunted tour if I ever had the chance. I was hoping for a bit more spooky happenings, but overall really liked the story.

The audio was absolutely perfect! The narrator did a great job at changing the characters voices. I’ve had great experiences with Dreamscape media audio books!!

I am so grateful to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for my audio reviews copy. All opinions are my own!

This started off a bit slow for me but once it got going I was hooked. Brooke Lauren Davis really knows how to write family disfunction with flawed and interesting characters. I love it! Everything flowed really nicely without any filler and there was also a good twist I didn't see coming.

The narrator did a fantastic job of making every character sound different with their own personality. I wish all audio books were this good.
