Moira Green loves her life in Somerset Lake. She has a job she loves, friends that support her, and a beautiful family. Moria’s mother has had a cafe in Somerset Lake for the past thirty years that has been a gathering place for all the residents and especially Moira and her friends. Now her cafe is being threatened with the town council wanting to tear it down and replace it with a much-needed parking lot. Moira has never backed down from a challenge, so she takes it upon herself to champion for her mother's cafe even it means taking on Gil Ryan the current mayor. Moira and Gil have known each other for years, but after an incident years ago Moira refuses to become friends again. Now that she is spending more time with Gil, she is thinking that maybe he is not so bad, after all he was named Bachelor of the Year! As tension mounts on city council, so do the feelings between Moira and Gil. Who will become the new mayor? What will happen to her mother's business?

Annie Rains does it again with this witty, sweet romance set in Somerset Lake. The characters are very well written, and I was anxious to see how the story would unfold. It was also fun to visit with the characters from the previous books in the series and catch up. Although you could read this one as a standalone book, once you meet the characters you will want to hear their stories as well. I have really enjoyed the series and want to thank Forever Publishing for my advanced copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily. Come take a trip to Somerset Lake and see for yourself how wonderful it is.

This is a brilliantly written rom-com with some drama thrown into the mix just at the right moments. Moira has a nice life in the little town of Somerset, enjoying her job as a dispatcher and even being hailed as a town heroine. But then Mayor Gil supports closing down a gathering place of the town and Moira gets motivated to throw her hat into the ring to run against him as mayor. The interactions between these two is worth reading the book because the dialogue is rich and authentic. Witty, humorous and cleverly written, this book gave me all of the good feelings of a sweet romance and a satisfying and original plot and setting. I loved the visit to Somerset with all of the characters I had met before, but I especially enjoyed meeting the vulnerable and sassy Moira who is a smart and dynamic character. All of the characters are well-developed and the plot moved along at a good pace that held me captivated and was well-crafted. Fans of the author will enjoy this book because it has her signature style of making reading her books not just entertaining but also fun from beginning to end.

If I am going to read a sweet, small town romance - I am always going to start with Annie Rains. She writes the best combination of friends, families and overlapping characters in a world that is absolutely Hallmark worthy. She carefully builds worlds that are consistent and true to herself and her characters and I am a big fan.

This story of Moira and Gil fits right in with all of these things. They have a past that she has kept secret for years. He has loved her for even longer. Their story of coming together is a sweet adventure that is perfect for a hot drink and a cozy blanket. I felt like this one had a lot of stuff going on, but it pulled through and was just right for a cozy read when I needed it most.

The Good Luck Café is the final installment in the Somerset Lake series and I have to say it has been an enjoyable small town to visit and get acquainted with its residents. Moira and Gil’s story is a slow build of a romance with a bit of history between them and a definite attraction between them. Moira and Gil have been friends forever it seems until they’re not. Gil has had only eyes for Moira but lately, she’s been going out of her way to avoid him. Now her mother’s bakery is going to be torn down to make way for a parking lot and needs help from stopping that from happening. She needs the support of Mayor Gil and decides to act.

Oh, what an interesting story and how quickly both main characters are spurred into action when the status quo is disturbed. Moira didn’t like the fact that her mother’s bakery was going to be demolished that has been a staple in town for over 30 years. She’ll do whatever it takes to keep it from leaving, even if it means running for mayor. Gil is also facing a change himself both with the upcoming mayoral race and the home situation with his younger brother Doug, who has Down Syndrome. His brother wants to move out and live on his own but his mother wants him to stay put. Both his mother and brother have put Gil in an uncomfortable position because he wants to make both of them happy and knows he’ll have to disappoint someone. It’s hard to let go but change is inevitable, and in some cases, they are out of our control.

The biggest change Moira faced is the secret that she’s been keeping close to her heart. Embarrassed and feeling guilty, it was exposed and now she had to face it head on. Family and friends definitely can surprise you and she learns that she didn’t have to face things alone. It is always good to see the friends they have rally, support or even joke around with both Moira and Gil. The friends, the humor and the developing romance between Moira and Gil, made this a delightful story from beginning to the end. I enjoyed the community of Somerset Lake and how a sweet romance made this one of my favorites in the series. The author definitely has a knack of creating likeable and realistic characters, dealing with relatable problems, and solving them with help from their family and friends. Annie Rains is a force in contemporary romance and is an author all should check out.

I loved this one so much! We finally get the story of Moira and Gil. Ah, it was so good!

I've always what was going on with Moira and Gil. I felt bad for him in the past books because of the way she treated him. More like avoided him. There past was no what I expected, talk about a plot twist.

This book was clean. While there was chemistry between the characters, there wasn't any steamy scenes. It was a nice break from that. lol

A sweet and charming romance. Small town issues. Friends and family provide support. A character or two promising some friction. All combining to supply a warm, engaging, readable tale. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

It was such a pleasure experiencing Somerset Lake again in this really emotional tale of second chances and forgiveness. It did start off a bit lukewarm, so it took me a little while to really immerse myself in the story. I found myself wondering if I was going to really be able to envision these characters together as a couple. However, once they started spending more time together, I slowly but surely felt the sparks flying. It's a closed door romance, so there wasn't a lot of steam, which I am used to with this author. She does an amazing job of creating complex, emotional relationships that make a reader not even notice that kissing is all that is happening. It's a nice change of pace for someone like me who also reads very high steam books, and I highly recommend to anyone wanting to dip their toe into this style of romance.

Moira Green is livid upon finding out her mother's bakery, which has been around for over thirty years, is going to be torn down to make room for a badly-needed parking lot in their small town. And at the center of the entire debacle? Mayor Gilbert Ryan, her one-time friend and annoyingly chipper pain in her side. Gil has had a crush on Moira since they were kids, but he never got up the courage to make a move. After a disastrous relationship between her and his roommate, she has never wanted to speak to him again despite all his best efforts. The tearing down of her mother's bakery doesn't help matters, but he knows it's what the town needs and he wants their votes to win the next election. Soon Moira gets it into her head that she should run for mayor against Gil...and that produces a lot of mixed feelings. Can these two rivals find love amidst the tension, or will the bitterness between them tear apart any possible relationship for them?

Gil and Moira honestly appeared to be the furthest thing from a match made in heaven I had ever seen, and I wondered if Annie Rains had finally lost her mojo. I don't know what I was thinking to doubt her like that. Moira was a headstrong, vibrant and caring woman who had a traumatic past, and the last thing she wanted to do was interact with the man who reminded her of it. Although Gil didn't personally do anything wrong...beyond send her to jail by mistake...but really, she couldn't fault him too hard for that. She didn't understand why he was so irritatingly pleasant to her all the time, and it was funny watching her try to battle herself internally over her behavior towards him. Gil was a sweetheart, but he just didn't know when to quit. He even got on my nerves in the beginning, seeming to be more concerned about winning an election than the feelings of others. But he truly did have a heart of gold, as evidenced by his kindness towards Moira even after she decided to run against him, and he was so supportive of his brother who had Downs Syndrome. I really enjoyed reading about his family life and how he navigated the turbulence. As a couple, they had a very rocky start. But in the end, they realized how good they were for each other, and that's really all that matters.

**Trigger Warning - the heroine's past involves being slipped a drug while on a date and not knowing what happened. She was not assaulted, thanks to Gil, but please be aware if this is a trigger for you.

Annie Rains stories need to be Netflix shows. I love her books! This is another great story that you don't want to miss!.

Such a good story, but I haven't read an Annie Rains book yet that I haven't loved. This one was in the small town of Somerset Lake. Moira and Gil are the main characters with lots of side characters. Gil is the mayor of the town and Moira finds out that the town council is going to tear down the building that has her mothers Bake shop in and she decides to fight the decision. She decides to run for mayor against Gil and then drops out. Some of her secrets come to light and she can't handle the idea of her personal life being under a microscope. One of the strong characters in the book is Doug who is autistic and Gil's brother. He is trying to be more independent and his mother wants to keep him at home. He is a strong young man that knows what he wants.
This is a book well worth reading - You'll love it!

I got ths book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review

Moira Green lives in Somerset Lake and has been avoiding Gil Ryan for years. Moira's mother runs a coffee shop, and the town is going to tear it down for a parking lot. Gil is the mayor, and she blames him for the shop being demolished. Gil is going to run again for mayor and Moira has now decided she wants to be mayor and they are running against each other. Gil has had a crush on Moira for years and she just ignores it. This is a story of two people learning to trust each other and understand what has been holding them back from getting and doing what they want in life. It was great to catch up on the other young couples in town. I have read all of this series and really enjoyed the books.

Warm, charming, and sweet!

The Good Luck Cafe is an amusing, tenderhearted, small-town romance that transports you to the idyllic Somerset Lake and into the lives of the dependable, kind Gil who is content being the local mayor and living close to his family but would love for the girl he’s always had a crush on to finally give him a chance, and the feisty, strong-willed Moira who is determined to do whatever it takes to stop the town council from tearing down her mother’s shop even if it means asking for help from the one man who used to be one of her best friends a long time ago.

The writing is cosy and light. The characters are supportive, helpful, and fun-loving. And the plot is a delightfully adorable mix of family, friendship, touching moments, adversity, attraction, chemistry, community, and swoon-worthy romance.

Overall, The Good Luck Cafe is a spirited, heartwarming, satisfying tale that touches on the importance of communication, teamwork, love and taking chances. It’s a wonderful addition to the Somerset Lake series by Rains, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed there’s still at least one more book still to come.

Loved, loved, loved this book! I wish I could give it a higher rating that 5 stars because it deserves it.

Moira and Gil's story is amazing. The 4th book in the Somerset Lake series and it didn't disappoint. A wonderful down-home feel-good story that you don't want to miss. Yes, you can read it as a standalone but there are characters from the first 3 books so I would highly recommend that you read them first.

Moira has a stubborn streak a mile long, when she finds out that her mother's business will have to close because the town and mayor are evicting her to tear down the building, Moira is fuming. She enlists help from her friends and the mayor, Gil Ryan, which makes it hard for Gil but he would help Moira in anything. The chemistry between Moira and Gil goes from friends to romance. I was cheering them on throughout the book.

I haven't read a book from Annie Rains that I haven't liked. This is the 5th book I have read and hope to get my hands on the rest of her books! She writes down-home wholesome books with little to no swearing and clean books. There is mention of sexual assault but not graphic details.

Highly recommend if you want a sweet romance with a great story!

This is such a feel good read! The Good Luck Cafe refers to the cafe run by the main character's mother. Moira was basically raised there and really, really resents it when the town mayor, Gil, announces that it has to come down to make room for progress in the small town.

To complicate things between the two, they have some history that makes things uncomfortable between the two to start with. Gil has always had a thing for Moira, but she has been actively avoiding him for years. Now she needs help to try to save the cafe. Things heat up between them, but will all their newly found good will come crashing down around them when Moira decides to run for Gil's position?

I thoroughly enjoyed this contemporary romance. Gil's grown brother who has Down's Syndrome was a nice addition to the characters.

Thanks for Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

Visiting Somerset Lake is always a fun time and The Good Luck Café was no exception!

Moira Green is a 911 operator and she enjoys her life in the small town. She enjoys spending time with her friends, going to her Mom's bakery/café and making a difference by serving the town in her job role.

When Moira's mom's bakery is threatened by the parking lot the town wants to build, she decides the best way to help save it, is by running for mayor. By doing so, she will be running against the current mayor, Gil Ryan, who not only is someone Moira has known most of her life, but he also once rescued her from what could have been a dire situation. While she has always feel a pull and attraction to Gil, does he feel the same way? Would they even be able to make something work given they are both running for mayor and given what happened in the past?

I've always enjoyed Annie Rains books and this one was no exception. I dove in and was immediately pulled in and I didn't want to put it down. I highly recommend this one and all of the others in this series.

I love this series so much. Moira is a 911 dispatcher. Gil is the town mayor. He has had a crush on her since they were children. And now, they find themselves on opposite sides of an issue facing their small town.

I read this in a single day and didn't want to leave the story world. It was great to be back with Moira's friends and their book club and to see Gil with all of the guys. We also get to know his brother as an amazing new secondary character.

Their romance was so sweet. Their backstory included some trauma that added interest and complexity.

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

I loved this book. Gil and Moira are the perfect couple, or are they? I couldn’t put it down. I love this kind of story. I was provided a copy by Net Galley but it did not affect my review.

Moira and Gil grew up in the same town, Somerset Lake, and still live there today. She’s an emergency dispatcher and he’s the mayor. Years ago he unknowingly prevented an assault being committed against Moira, unknowingly because she never told him what happened. In fact, she never told anyone because the police said there was no proof. Now with her mother’s business in danger of being closed to make room for a parking lot, Moira decides to run for mayor against Gil, forcing them into conflict.

I enjoyed visiting Somerset Lake again, meeting up with characters from previous books in the series. Moira’s story was sad but she persevered and is happy helping people through her job. It’s a small town story with all the elements, friends, family, a town gossip, cute dogs and a troublemaker. Fun, clean story.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book but my opinions are my own.

The Good Luck Café is a book that I held my heart as I read it. The book took me back to Somerset Lake. The focus of this story is on Moira and Gil.
I like the connection between Gil and Moira. They have known each other their whole lives and as you read chemistry is there and it made me feel that they really are meant to be together no matter what is tossed in their path.
Thank you NetGalley, Annie Rains and Forever for the ARC of The Good Luck Café. This is my personal review.
The Good Luck Café is part of the Somerset Lake series. I have enjoyed every book in this series.

Lovely addition to the sweet Somerset Lake series. Annie Rains writes wholesome romances and this series is set in a small community with a tight knit friend group. This can be read as a stand alone but the friends are MCs of the previous books. Moira Green has a good life. She enjoys her job as a 911 dispatcher, has good friends and doesn’t mind that she is single. Her mother has for thirty years run a downtown breakfast cafe and bakery. When Moira learns that the city plans to tear down the business to put in a much needed parking lot Moira wants to fight. Gil Ryan is the city mayor. He is a people pleaser and can’t understand why Moira who he has know since childhood doesn’t like him more. They are just starting to get more friendly when she surprises him by deciding to run against him for mayor.

This is an easy and enjoyable read. There is something nice when her friends ask “did you?” about a first date and you know they mean share a kiss. I did catch a couple of irritating inconsistencies. First Moira’s friends talk about being mayor as though it is a part time job and that she can continue being dispatcher which she loves. But for Gil it is his full time job and career. Which is it? Also Moira and her mother who are close and see each other almost daily but don’t seem to communicate well. Mom says Moira always fights things, but there is zero background to show that. And mom fighting her about being a dispatcher, again why or how? And mom saying there is nothing to be done about the town’s plan and not sharing she is ready to retire is beyond ridiculous. The bakery is literally the only reason Moira decides to run for mayor. I did love the depiction of Doug, Gil’s down syndrome brother. I will add this is my favorite cover in the series.

I already have an ARC for the authors next release in August (2023). It isn’t part of this series but if she returns to Somerset Lake I will gladly read that as well. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC in exchange for a review. (3.5 Stars)

This is a sweet feel-good romance that you don't want to miss. It has wonderful characters, beautiful setting, and just the right amount of conflict to make this book a page turner.
