What a fun premise. Two families have to share a Nantucket beach house for one week due to a mistake. I love the concept, but would actually hate to endure it myself.
The elder parents were quite ridiculous and I believe Daneen would have benefitted from being thrown in the ocean more than once. Their bickering was over the top while the others tried to keep, the peace. Even the younger kids were better behaved.
I loved that Ryan was a community college professor since I share the same profession.
Ryan and Evita were cute together and the ending was super sweet.
I love reading anything that takes place on Nantucket!

This was definitely rife with familial drama and rivalry. I think for me the romance got lost somewhat on the pettiness of the older generations grudge and the antiquated notion of parents deciding who their children can and cannot date. It had some fun tropes and moments, and the love interests were by far the best characters.

These two women can hold a grudge! I love the Machado family. They are so fun and loud. Anyone can see that they love each other. The Hatfields love each other, but they are very reserved. The moms knew each other in high school and have been feuding ever since. When Evita and Ryan were in high school, they were good friends, but couldn't hang out outside of school because of their mothers. Now all these years later, they meet again, and they are still good friends, but their mothers are still feuding. When they are thrown together for a week in Nantucket, and the sparks fly. Can Evita and Ryan help the mothers find some kind of peace so they can see if their relationship will bloom? They are adults and they are going to have to stand up to the mothers or they will never get anywhere. Can it be done?

This novel follows Evita Machado, who is eager to get to Nantucket and enjoy a vacation with her family. Newly heartbroken, Evita is hopeful the trip will help mend her heartache. When Evita, and her ever growing family arrive, the house exceeds their expectations, but it all comes crashing down when they discover they aren't the only ones there. It's genuinely the worst case scenario, Evita's former crush, Ryan Hatfield is there with his family, which includes his mother... Evita's mom and Ryan's mom have a long-standing feud. The rivalry leads the two women to bicker about all the details of having to share the house, from splitting the house in half, to who gets access to common spaces when. The most important part, their kids are to remain apart. What happens when children defy their parents? Unlike the moms who see the feud as clear as day, their children are less clear and see aspects of the other's family that are unique and appealing.

Evita and Ryan have never forgotten each other and the curiosity of what could have been continues to haunt them as they spend time together during their family vacation.

I was granted access to the audiobook as well and this was fun. as an audiobook and the pacing was fast. It was over almost too soon for me! I enjoyed the varied family experiences and cultural differences that were celebrated in Baird's book. My only frustration was how drawn out the moms made their stand0ff. Their kids have known each other since high school and are well in to their own professional careers with families of their own now.

Thank you Sourcebook Casablanca for granting me access to Ginny Baird's latest book Right Girl, Wrong Side. Ginny Baird is new to me as an author and as I read this book, I ended up looking up her other titles. I am so excited I have many more to read.

Right Girl, Wrong Side is a fun family are enemies from the first meeting, business rivals, type of story by Ginny Baird. It is not quite a Romero and Juliet story but more of the laugh out loud funny kind. Vacation overbooking causes these two families to be using the same rental at the same time. No one is willing to give up the rental. However, instead of being compatible these two families are opposites.

Evita and Ryan were likable characters who have a charming romance when their mothers weren’t around. The families should have definitely left both mothers at home while on vacation, they were so unlikable and ungracious. Some of the other minor characters were fun though. A story that shows what can go wrong before it can go right.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley & Publisher for the opportunity to review!

Hatfields vs Machados in this funny, cute romcom. A light read perfect for someone looking to giggle and enjoy some second-hand embarrassment. I enjoyed this read, and found Evita & Ryan to be a sweet couple just trying to navigate (survive) their clashing families. I did find their story to be less rom more com, and I do wish there had been some more relationship and character development between the two of them. Also, I didn't realize this would be closed door, and while I don't mind a lack of spice, their love felt more like a friendship with a few errant kisses that didn't seem to hold much meaning.

HOWEVER, I stand by my earlier statement that for a light read, this is perfect. And besides, any storyline that makes me laugh and groan in equal measure is a good one.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a fun retelling that made sense overall. I'd say it was a lighter read but good for when you don't want something very heavy.

We have a Hatfields vs. McCoys setup in this fun read. Evita Machado and Ryan Hatfield have been friends since high school but lost touch with each other. Their mothers though have had a rivalry since they were in school. Both families end up in the same vacation house on Nantucket. As you can expect things did not start off well and it was literally a house divided. Evita and Ryan work to make sure both families try to have a good time while at the same time, they come to find they have always had feelings for each other, but their mothers got in the way.

I enjoyed the characters in this book and the other family members. This was an engaging story that I would recommend to those that would like a little escape.

Ryan and Evita are from arguing families. Will their forced proximity in a holiday home lead to more for them but also fix things between their families? A fun read

This was such a cute read that was giving major romcom vibes!

Evita and Ryan were so adorable but their families really stole the show for me. They were bickering constantly and the banter was so fun to read. I did feel that this was more about getting the families to finally put their issues aside and get along than a romance focused read, but it was so charming I had fun the entire time.

This was a lighthearted read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Plus now I need to go to Nantucket!

Thank you, Sourcebooks Casablance and Net Galley, for the advanced copy!

I was a little leary about continuing on with this book after the first chapter. It didn't grab me in the first half of the chapter, but the second half was good. I decided to continue on with it, and I'm so glad I did! Such a cute read. Some chapters were long, some were short. I'm not one to really like long chapters. It seems like books with shorter chapters seem to flow faster for me, but I found myself devouring this book and not wanting the chapters to end. That was a first for me! Total modern-day Romeo and Juliet, but the families are stuck together for a week at a beautiful beach house, and no sad ending because who wants a sad ending? Pick this one up today!!

Evita Machado and Ryan Hatfield used to hang out in high school. They both liked each other, but an old feud between their mothers kept them from acting on their feelings. When an error occurs and both mom's are though to have won a week trip to a beach house from a silent auction, the two high school friends run into each other and are forced to referee the week between their parents. Are the two able to keep the peace in their respectable families, and more importantly, are the two able to draw boundaries between their families and their personal lives?

What a fun book!

The feud between the Machados and Hatfields dates back to when the mothers were in high school going after the spot of class President.

Evita and Ryan had a bit of a spark in high school, but their mothers squashed that in a hurry. This hilarious forbidden romance has both the Machados and the Hatfields winning a timeshare vacation on Nantucket. There seems to be a mix up and they are asked to make the best and share the vacation.

The mothers have no intention of making nice, although neither family wants to leave. They bicker and can't agree on anything, except that they don't want Evita and Ryan to get any romantic ideas toward each other.

Evita and Ryan decide to team up and try to find a way for the families to get along. And during the time working together, romance sparks.

Both these families were entertaining, and the book was filled with humor. Just a feel good, romcom that made me smile!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca and Dreamscape Media for both an ARC and ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Busy flower shop manager Evita Machado can’t wait to get to Nantucket. With a bad breakup behind her, relaxing at the shore with her folks and her brothers and their families sounds like the sure cure for heartache, and their vacation destination looks like an amazing place! But when they arrive at the quaint rose-covered cottage, another group has already put down stakes: the Hatfields.

Oh, the dreamy setting of Nantucket was everything to hope for! I really enjoyed the plot; it was quirky, funny and unique. But somewhere along the family rivalry, I wanted more of the romance and chemistry between the 2 MCs.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the arc, in exchange for an honest review.

Romantic Comedy

Nantucket Island, Massachusetts – Present Day

Evita Machado and her family, which consists of her parents plus her siblings and their children, are looking forward to their vacation on Nantucket Island in a house that her parents won in an auction. But when they arrive, the house is already occupied—by her family’s biggest rivals, the Hatfield family. Turns out there was a mistake and both families “won” a week at the house. Neither family intends to give up their week at the house, so they agree to split the house in two. It may not be comfortable, and it certainly won’t help with their already bitter rivalry but at least they will get to have a vacation. The oldest Hatfield sibling is Ryan, the guy who Evita had once teamed up with as a chemistry partner in their high school class. They enjoyed each other’s company back then, but both were warned away from ever dating the other. Even now, as both Evita and Ryan are adults, the mothers, Lissette and Daneen, warn the two to stay away from each other. But they can’t help being drawn to the other as the attraction they shared in high school is rekindled as adults. Will they get a chance for a little romance despite being surrounded by families that won’t get along?

RIGHT GIRL, WRONG SIDE is more about Evita and Ryan trying to achieve peace between their families than them hooking up. Yes, they do find an occasional opportunity to be alone, but it is never enough to do more than talk and maybe kiss once or twice. The premise of this tale is more about getting the families to find peace and live together for a week. The house is big enough but not large enough to hold them peacefully apart. There are plenty of squabbles and bickering to keep this story lively. Meanwhile, Ryan is dealing with a bit of a career crisis. Does he apply for a job where he will be happy or do what his parents, particularly his mother, want him to do? His mother is easily depicted as a bit uppity, while Evita’s mother is big on family and honor. Their rivalry goes back to high school when the two women competed for class president. They have continued to carry the hard feelings into their marriages and raise their children to dislike each other. It’s no wonder that Evita and Ryan feel like Romeo and Juliet, or their families as the Hatfields and McCoys. Will peace ever be achieved?

There are lots of laughs and sticky situations that readers will enjoy in RIGHT GIRL, WRONG SIDE by Ginny Baird. Evita and Ryan get along so well that it’s a wonder that their family’s bickering ever kept them apart. They are both free from entanglements, so a little holiday romance is brewing for them. That is, if they can find the time to be alone without their mothers telling them to stay away from each other. If you love a good, laugh-out-loud tale with a hint of romance on the side, then RIGHT GIRL, WRONG SIDE will be perfect for you. Ryan and Evita are likable and deserve to be together. Don’t miss this fun book.

The Hatfields and the Machados have been enemies forever. Well, not forever, just since Evita & Ryan’s moms were in high school.
Nobody REALLY knows what happened back then, all they know for sure is it’s a feud neither woman is letting go of.
This has a lot of cute elements, the forced proximity in terms of families was interesting. The characters were cute and the drama was silly.
But the chemistry between the main characters wasn’t there for me. They felt friendly and they kept telling the reader how interested they were but I didn’t feel it at all. Their conversations kept being labeled as “deep” but I never felt that either.

This was really cute and the two of them were super cute. It would be five stars but I feel like the family stuff went on too long. These women are in their 50's at least, they needed to grow up.

I received an arc through netgalley.

Right Girl, Wrong Side was a fantastic Romeo and Juliet-type story that will make you laugh. You have the series family on one side and the boisterous family on the other. There was an accident and they both spent the week at a beach cabin in Nantucket. If you’re looking for a fun story that will help time fly by, this is the book for you.

Thank you to Netgalley for the early arc.

Showcasing some strong Romeo and Juliet Vibes, Right Girl Wrong Side was a delightful story that threw together two long feuding moms and their families into a Nantucket beach house for a week. Love is certainly in the air for two of their adult children who pined for each other in their high school chemistry days. Can the families make it to the end of the week drama free? With a bit of meddling from two forbidden lovers take a crack at this book and find out!!

When I read the synopsis of this book, I just had to read it! It sounded so fun. And it was hilarious and sweet. With the Machado family being loud, noisy and chaotic, the Hatfields were more reserved and quite.
🏖️
I really enjoyed to read about all the characters and their different personalities. With different cultures, they struggled a lot to get along.
🏖️
Ryan and Evita mother's rivalry was funny to read about at the beginning but then I felt it to be very immature. They started argue about very silly things and trying so desperate to keep their children apart even now when they are grownups. Ryan and Evita had to sneak out when their parents weren't looking to have a chance to talk and hang out with each other and make up for all the years they haven't seen each other.
🏖️
Overall it was a cute read but I wished to read more about Ryan and Evita's romance and not only their family drama.

this was a fun and light read. i saw some reviews before reading the book saying they find the couple immature so i didn't know if i would like this but i find the opposite. ryan and evita were mature but also sweet characters.

their mothers are enemies since highschool and even though i find it stupid i understand their reasons at the end.(ryan's mother has daddy issues 🤨)

there wasn't ow/om drama or third act break-up and this was closed door(they only kiss 2-3 times). they openly communicate and i liked side characters(there were so many) but my rating is a little low even though i enjoyed this very much. because the writing was a little cheesy and some parts felt like a bad staged theatre 😔
