LOVED this one. My previous by the author had been good but nothing amazing, but this one was much deeper and I really enjoyed reading it.

I loved so much about this cutest romance novel. The forbidden romance, tension between two families, and some sibling bonding. I was hooked from the beginning and was eager to learn more about the rivalry between both Evita and Ryan’s mom’s. My only complaint is that plot stretched on much longer than it needed to. Every time I thought it was wrapping up, something would happen and the story would continue to drag on. I started to lose interest towards the end but kept reading so I could get some answers. The cute ending was worth it!

Thank you, @netgalley, for this ARC!

"It was a very cute story, high school friends, who were in allowed to date because of their families. They accidentally find each other again in the attraction is still there. "

This was a fun story involving feuding families and revolves around two ladies, Eleanor and Ruby.

Evita and Ryan were lab partners back in high school. They wanted to date but were stymied by the long-standing feud between their mothers. As adults, Evita owns her own floral business and Ryan is a history professor. Both are looking forward to a weeklong family vacation in Nantucket in a fabulous vacation home won at silent auction. Each mother thinks she is the winner.

Though the mothers have hated each other since their own high school days, the families try to divide the house and enjoy themselves. Evita and Ryan were sweet as they tried to keep peace between the rival families. At the same time, both felt a need to assert their independence while not hurting their parents.

This is a fun story of family and forgiveness. Holding a grudge for close to thirty years seems ridiculous but I’ve seen it happen in my own family, so I can’t say it is unrealistic. As far as the romance goes, this is definitely a cozy story. 3.5/5 Stars

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

First of all, the reason behind the rivalry between the moms' seemed kinda simple. I dunno I guess I was expecting something more. It was not a dealbreaker for me though. I liked the chemistry between Ryan and Evita. But we got so little of it. The author spent her time on the world-building too much throughout the entire book that other aspects lacked.

The premise of the plot is cute, with feuding families named with a nod towards the infamous Hatfields and McCoys. However, the charm kind of stopped there. The MCs didn't have much personality and felt very one-dimensional.

There was lots of tell-don't-show in the exposition and conclusion, namely when she's laying out her family tree...to her best friend of several years? Strange and awkward. And the where-are-they-now in the final chapter felt choppy.

My two biggest issues with the story, however, were, first, that the basis of the feud felt small. Even after all their explanations of why it was a bigger deal than it sounded, it ultimately wasn't something that would have kept these two women feuding for decades. And the level of immaturity toward each other and dismissiveness toward their families was absurd.

Second, the narration felt very detached from the story. I don't mind a third-person POV, but I thought the voice of it in this case alienated the reader from the happenings in the story. I think the book would have been a lot better with a first-person POV, and hopefully would have at least given the MCs more personality.

Did you ever have a book where you just could not put your feelings down in words? The House of Eve is that for me.

I really struggled as to what to say about this book because I truly loved it and I want to do it justice.

My heart was broken and mended so many times while reading this book.

This book is a dual POV between two women, Eleanor and Ruby. They are both striving to leave the poverty their families have been in by achieving a college degree.

They both have a challenge face them to achieving this dream. I don’t want to say too much about their stories because I am afraid to give too much away. All I can say is if you loved Yellow Wife, you will love The House of Eve. They are two different stories but both are equally important.

The premise of this one was fun. I liked Evita and Ryan. and their history.
Pacing wise this was a miss for me, I felt it dragged and the conflict between the families was not enough to keep me invested in the story arc.

This is the first book by Ginny Baird that I’ve read and I’ll definitely be reading more.

It was a very cute story, high school friends, who were in allowed to date because of their families. They accidentally find each other again in the attraction is still there.

But they could never be together, their mothers are mortal enemies going back 30 years. Ryan’s family is very reserved and proper, and Evita’s family is the complete opposite, loud and boisterous and loving.

Can these two families spend a week together in Nantucket, in the same house? Will the moms be able to fix what’s broke, and let Ryan and Evita fall in love?

I don't think this book was for me. The story changed between both our main characters Evita and Ryan so often and without warning I was confused about who was thinking what. I also found it difficult to follow when it would cut to a scene from when the characters where in high school. There was no warning and it felt disjointed.
I really liked the idea a premise, 2 families at odds got stuck in the same vacation home. But the execution didn't do it for me.

this book was definitely not the one for me. i had to force myself to keep reading this book most of the time. i honestly just got frustrated with the way the characters acted. while their parents arguments were meant to cause drama and sparks it ended up just getting annoying because the arguments were over petty things and the moms were both very very immature. i really liked the side characters and reading how some of the characters developed but overall i think this book could’ve been much better.

While this wasn't quite a home run of a read for me, it definitely is an author that I would like to see more from as they develop further.

Both families are crazy. The mothers especially are incredibly immature and it's hard to believe they got married and were able to have successful relationships with anyone. The reason for the feud was really stupid on both sides and was a great example of terrible communication.

The feud between the families and the warring members was pretty funny at times and I enjoyed seeing both points of view.

The romance was cute as well and I really enjoyed this fun romcom. I would definitely recommend this fun novel!

A very sweet story about 2 people who adore each other but are stuck between their families rivalry. But despite their families meddling they’ve always had an easy attraction to each other. I found this story really cute and loved the little moments they had when they were able to.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an E-ARC to read and review.

This Romeo & Juliet -esque romance was PERFECT! A modern day version of this story is exactly what I needed, I only wish I would’ve read it in the summer, purely to add to the vibes of the book! This was such an easy read and I absolutely flew through it!

This is a truly cute rom com that made me laugh so hard and also annoyed me a little. The mothers were way to immature for their age, the feud silly but it made for some excellent moments of hilarity.
I did think we would get at least some spice but I'm satisfied with just the kisses even ef the were repeated word for word.
So if you love a no spice silly funny cute rom com this is a book for you.
Overall 3 stars.

This playful twist on the Hatfield and McCoy feud in a vacation condo makes for a fun escape read - this will be a great beach book! A bit of second chance romance gives Evita and Ryan a chance to reconnect, but the vitriol between their mothers puts unrealistic expectations and restrictions on the relationship between these two adults. While I appreciated Evita and Ryan's dedication to their families, the constant pull from the moms started to get a bit like a rubber band - they will, they won't, they will, they won't...

Forced Proximity
Second Chance Rom / HS crush
Sweet, hallmarkesque romance

I’ll start by saying I was immediately drawn to this book - I love the cover art it’s bright, colorful, cute and fun. The title seems fun and the whole feuding families, forced proximity, star crossed lovers angie seemed fun.

I liked Evita and Ryan - the back story was an interesting one and they had cute interactions throughout the story. I could definitely see this book as a hallmark type movie. I also really enjoyed the big, loud, chaos of the Machado clan and their family dynamics.

At certain points, the story felt a bit drawn out / long for me. Partly I think this was due to our two matriarchs - who felt a bit immature and annoyed me at times with their long held grudge. I definitely know people like this do I think that’s what got to me. 😅

Overall, a cute, easy beach read romcom. Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casa for the opportunity to read an early copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and freely offered.

Thank you so much to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for this e-Arc in exchange for an honest review!!
I had such a good time reading this book!! It was so funny and heartfelt, and I definitely laughed out loud a few times in the middle of the night!! One of my favourite tropes is forced proximity and this was even better, the tension between both families was a blast to read. I liked the family dynamics a lot, and think that even those who aren't quick to choose romance will like this a lot. The bickering and banter was hilarious.

I am excited to see what Ginny Baird does next!!
