I really liked this authors last book so I went ahead and requested this one to read. I didn’t really like it. If you’re a small town romance stan maybe? I just wasn’t feeling the romance.

I love a good small town book full of fun characters and a chance at love. But this one just kind of felt like something was missing. I thought it was funny at times and I understood the struggles, but I just wanted more from the characters.
A cute read.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC

“Said No One Ever” was an absolute delight. This story is full of unexpected humor, quirky characters, and farm animal shenanigans. Ellie finds herself in a tough transitional period and gets more than she bargained for on a much-needed vacation. If you’re looking for grandma hijinks, donkeys named Sheriff, and a cute love story this one is for you!

Stephanie Eding writes a delightfully escapist, fun and entertaining novel, light on romance, perfect fare with which to take a break from a lot of the dark books I read. Eleanor 'Ellie' Reed's life in Columbus, Ohio, is crumbling around her, she has dropped her boyfriend of 6 years, Sean, a nice man but she does not love him. Her interfering family are convinced she has made a mistake, and she is on the verge of losing her job as a medical transcriptionist, her high achieving sister Averie believes she has the answer to that, for her to become a nanny to her out of control children. Unless Ellie can find another job, she will have no option but to be a nanny, and if all that is not enough, she is going to lose her apartment as she can no longer afford it.

Unable to cope, Ellie books a 3 week holiday she can ill afford, an airbnb on a remote farm in Choteau in Montana, in search of peace. However, this is the last thing awaiting her, her host, the elderly Mrs Marilyn Perry is injured after falling over her clumsy, but affectionate bulldog, Hilda. Marilyn is being taken off for treatment as Ellie arrives. With no family or friends turning up, city girl Ellie finds herself out of her depth, facing mayhem and chaos, as she endeavours to take care of Hilda, Sheriff, the donkey, Bo and Peep, the sheep, the chickens, and the goats that arrive later on. She visits the spirited Marilyn, who she instantly takes to, she had been close to and adored her late grandmother Val. Marilyn has her running around with a list of tasks that include bringing a locket to her. Before Ellie knows it, she finds herself caught amidst a heavy family drama, as Marilyn's grandson, a small home contractor, Warren Oliver arrives, convinced she is a scam artist and can helpful handsome neighbour, Blake Robinson be trusted?

Little does Ellie know it, but her life is set for major changes, as she finds inspiration in Marilyn's determination and courage to live the life she wants, with her new best friend, Belle, and Ellie just might overcome her low self esteem to confront her own family who think they know what is best for her. This is a great, comic and engaging read with a great set of characters, plenty of drama, chaos and lovable animals that I think will appeal to many readers. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.

This fell flat for me. Sorry.

What I liked:
The cover
The dog; Hilda
The premise

What didn’t work for me:
The love interests lacked chemistry and I just couldn’t care about them.
The old lady’s antics got old in like the third chapter and they are so constant throughout.

Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an eARC.

I loved the premise for this book, but I didn't quite manage to connect with the main character, or her love interests. In truth, I ended up putting this book aside. I may pick it back up at a later date, though. Thank you for the complimentary copy!

While not the most OMG Amazing thing I've read, a solid purchase for most libraries with a strong romance readership

Said No One Ever, by Stephanie Eding is such a delightful romp! Ellie is a girl you can’t help but root for, and Marilyn is the grandma we all wish we had. This story is just waiting to be adapted into a rom-com.

This book was so cute and fun! I loved Ellie, and felt so much frustration with how her family treater her. It was so fun watching her go from reluctantly helping around the farm to leading a mission to save it—and standing up for herself, too.

Marilyn, the grandmother, was a hoot and a half! And, while the romance wasn’t the whole focus of this book, Ellie’s growing friendship-to-more with Marilyn’s grandson Warren was really sweet and wholesome.

I enjoyed this book, and would love an entire series set in this world. Definitely pick it up for a entertaining and lighthearted read!

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for an e-ARC. This is my honest review.

Ellie has just about hit the proverbial rock bottom. She broke up with her perfect-ish boyfriend, got laid off from her job and she is in the shadow of her uber-successful sister. What does one do in such a predicament? Why yes! Escape to a tiny house on a farm in the middle of nowhere Montana. There she finds an unlikely friendship with an 82 year old woman who has a random assortment of farm animals and one VERY grumpy grandson. Follow Ellie and Warren through the ins, outs and ups, downs of trying to save a farm and possibly find their way to each other.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! From the first chapter I immediately started enjoying the book. Reading about Marilyn makes me miss my late grandmother and leaves me feeling all warm and fuzzy. I was captivated the whole time throughout the storyline and would love to read more about Ellie and her new life on the farm. I really didn’t want the story to end, definitely a book I would pick up again.

This book has a cute premise, with main character Ellie Reed going through multiple rough patches in her life (just broke up with her boyfriend of 6 years, about to get laid off and can’t find a new job, can’t afford to live in her apartment anymore) so she decides to take a spur of the moment, three week trip to a small town in Montana. It’s not the relaxing vacation she envisioned, though. Instantly everything goes haywire. Her Airbnb host, an 82-year-old woman named Marilyn, hurts her knee and is brought to a rehabilitation home. None of Marilyn’s family comes to help her - or her farm. There are a couple of mysterious, grumpy guys that make appearances and Marilyn tries to find her lost true love.

This book has the elements in it that I thought I would love, but it missed the mark for me. I don’t know if it’s because it was a 3rd person POV, but I felt like I couldn’t relate to Ellie or really any of the main characters. Marilyn and her cooky antics got old for me real quick. Neither Warren nor Blake had any appeal to me and I couldn’t warm up to either of them. I also felt like the plot just dragged on and on and on… to the point where I got tired of it at the end.

If you want to read a book about all the Golden Girls rolled into one, pick this book up! Marilyn and Belle are honestly the hidden gems in this book!

Ellie is trying to survive adulting, but honestly just needed someone to come along and show her she was already winning. Warren just needed some in happiness and goodness in his life to balance out the crazy and chaos. Putting them together was the sweetest story to read even if they didn't realize it was happening.

I love a good grumpy/sunshine and this book delivers! Add in a delightful female matriarch and you have a perfect feel good novel. Said no one ever is a fun, immersive read with a lot of laughs and a deep family connection. Coming from a big family, I’m familiar with all the drama that can happen and this book really nails that. This is a perfect book when you’re looking for some escapism from the world for a while.

Our main character, Ellie, books herself a three-week vacation on a gorgeous farm in Montana. She is looking to unwind and frankly, escape from her life for a bit. She’s on the verge of losing her job, and her sister has offered to have her be her nanny to her three children. Ellie dreads this, but it seems her only option. Once in Montana, she finds herself immersed in family drama and caught between two handsome men competing for control of the farm. She befriends the spunky elderly widow who owns the property. Determined to do the right thing, Ellie does things she never thought possible – and changes her life in the process.

What a cute immersive read. It was so playful and really well written. I loved Ellie, her life felt so relatable. The book was also full of comedy. The spunky grandma reminded me of my own grandma, and her antics were hilarious. Such a fun character. The city girl trying to make it in the country is always funny to be, so I did laugh out loud several times. This one is reminiscent of a hallmark movie love story and is utterly wholesome. Overall, this was a lovely read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Huge thanks to @netgalley and the publisher, SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca, @sourcebookscasa for my e-arc in exchange for this honest review.

This one is out April 4th – it would make the perfect spring pick me up read.

Highlights:

Ellie Reed is attempting to take a peaceful vacation to sort her personal life out but it turns into a roller coaster of family drama that she is right in the middle of. She thinks she’s renting a peaceful AirBNB on gorgeous Montana farmland, but unfortunately she encounters a whole set of family drama. Ellie somehow manages to become a caretaker of a barn full of animals, caught between two handsome men and finds a friendship in a spunky elderly woman. Little does this know this vacation is about to change her life’s destiny.

This book totally is the comedy version of the TV show Yellowstone. LOL There is family drama, handsome men and a whole lot of twists and turns. I found this book one day while I was scrolling through Netgalley and thought the synopsis looked cute. Well, it certainly was. Marilyn, the elder matriarch of the family is an absolute hoot. You immediately love her and wish that she was your Grandmother. She is kind, thoughtful and full of spunk. Her Grandson Warren is a cranky but hardworking man who has the softest spot in his heart for his Grandmother. Ellie is such a sweet kind soul who would do anything for her new found friends. This was such a sweet and easy read. I am so glad I was able to read an advanced copy of this book.

If you love romance, farm animals and Yellowstone - this one's for you! It is being released April 4, 2023. Make sure you add it to your TBR!
