This Novella was such an enjoyable read! It’s short, but you still get to learn so much about the characters and watch them grow. I loved Lauree’s emotions and thought process throughout the novella, and Max was adorable!
Dani McLean packed so much into this novella, it’s crazy. 😂
I loved the short chapters, the time jumps were done so well, and the ending was perfect.

I am looking forward to the next novella in this series!

First time reading this author and she delivered a quick paced novella about a woman learning how to be who she wants to be while repeating the same day over and over again.

It's a sweet friends to lovers romance. Lauree is someone relatable to many readers because she's lost and avoids changes. The idea of setting this story in the New Year's Eve was a fantastic idea and well planned and I liked how the author made Lauree push herself quickly. I was expecting her to be more resistant and avoid moving forward with her resolve but it didn't happen.

I wished this was a full length novel though. I know it can be tiring to the author and reader having the same day in loop but it would've been interesting to get a deeper view from Lauree and Max past, their backstory and until the recent day. I think it would make us connect more with them as couple instead of being instant.

If you're looking for a fast read to help you get out of a slump or because you're looking for a lighter read, this is a solid novella.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

Midnight, Repeated follows Lauree falling in to a time loop on New Years eve and she needs to figure out how to get herself out of this loop.

I'll admit it took me a bit to figure out what was going on exactly with the love interests in this book. I think they were introduced pretty quickly and confusingly (at least for me) but once I figured out what was going on it was a pretty nice read. It probably wouldn't be too high on my recommendations but I did enjoy it and I would read other books by this author if given the opportunity.

3/5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for this copy to review.

This was a great read! Quick, cute, and charming! I am a big fan of the time loop concept and this book did not disappoint! I loved watching Laurlee’s growth. I found her and Max’s relationship so sweet. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Dani McLean.

Thanks to NetGalley and Set the Mood Publishing for giving me early access to read Midnight, repeated. This was my first time reading a ground hog day vibe story and I enjoyed it for the most part. I’m pretty sure it’s a novella series so it is a quick read. It was easy to take interest in the characters and to care about them. It was a cute romance.

Synopsis:
She’s about to have the night of her life. Over and over again. At twenty-five, Lauree Miller knows what she should want — a serious job, a serious boyfriend, the ability to cook a meal that doesn’t involve two types of cheese. Who cares if it isn’t the future she had in mind for herself? It’s about time she stopped pining over her best friend’s brother, Max, anyway. New Years Eve is a time for resolutions, and as the clock ticks closer to midnight, Lauree makes a decision - next year, she’s going to let go of the past and finally grow up. Except when she wakes, it’s still December 31st. Then it happens again. And again. And again. What’s a girl trapped in a time loop to do? Will kissing the right man at midnight set her free?

Review:
This novella was so interesting and exciting! It was a New Year's Groundhog day. I thought the story was intersting and now I'm looking forward to the rest of the Magic Midnight series.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion!
Midnight, repeated is a sweet fluffy novella about Lauree who gets stuck in a loop on New Year’s Eve.. Being stuck in a loop helps her discover herself and what she wants in her life which is not her boring job and her boring (asshole) boyfriend and figure out what’s been missing from her life.. It also helps her come to a conclusion about her long-time unrequited love of her best friend’s brother Max!
I absolutely love Lauree’s development and seeing her rediscover herself and her passion which doesn’t necessarily mean fitting into society’s mold.. she became bolder and unapologetic and I loved to see it 🫶🏻 Lauree was definitely funny and amusing and I had a great time reading it.. Max and Lauree were very sweet and wholesome, we really saw how Max is a major part of her life who’s always there for her and supports her. He’s the perfect golden retriever boyfriend and her number one believer who encouraged her to find her passion and calling, which was absolutely lovely to see. Wish it had been a little longer though but can’t wait to read more from the author!

I was so excited to read my first ARC from NetGalley! Of course reading a book by a new author can be nerve racking because you don’t want to be disappointed…but Dani McLean did not disappoint!
Midnight Repeated is the perfect book to read while cuddled up on the couch on a fall day. Dani took a new spin on the “time loop” concept. Not only does Lauree need to find the right person to end up with at Midnight, but she also has to find herself in the process.

Incredibly sweet, fluffy with a bit of spice. A romantic twist on Groundhog Day. I read most of this one sitting; so easy to read and stay immersed in the story

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a meh for me. Didn't realize it was a novella and by the time I mightve been interested, it was over.

I love the premise of the novel - it had great potential. But, it just was sub-par to me. I think the author had all the idea for a great plot for a great novel, but it just was not delivered effectively.
Pros:
- Love the time-loop storyline. It can be overdone sometimes, but using a time loop for New Years Eve would be amazing!
- Love best friend's brother romance (I mean who hasn't had a crush on their friend's older brother?)
- New Years Eve is one of my favorite holidays that gets overshadowed by Christmas, so I was looking forward to escaping to the excitement of a New Year and colder weather in NY
Cons:
- It was suuuuuuper predictable and very repetitive
- I just found it hard to like the main character and buying into her (and all of the other characters') backstories.
- I know it was intended to be a novella, but I feel that if you are writing a novella, you still must include enough detail, description, and plot to have readers be invested in it.
Not my cup of tea, unfortunately.

Laurie is stuck in a rut. It's a good thing it's New Year's Eve since it's probably time she makes some new resolutions. With midnight seconds away Laurie makes the decision to start growing up and do something about the job she hates, rethink her relationship with her less than supportive boyfriend, and finally try and move on from her unrequited feelings toward her friend Max. Only when she wakes up the next day it's New Year's Eve all over again, and Laurie, once again, find herself stuck.

Okay this novella was so cute!! It was short and sweet but packed with so much goodness and fun! I enjoyed all the "daily" adventures Laurie went on. I can't wait for the rest of the series.

This was a beautiful, charming and fun story - which felt like a perfect fall read, even if it does take place on New Year's Eve. Lauree was such a delightful person who learned to make the best out of a bad situation and turn her life around, even if it meant living the same day again and again. In love with her best friend's brother since they were teenagers and thinking it was hopeless and one-sided, she started to maybe see herself through his eyes, too.

And the cover - talk about beautiful!

Thank you NetGalley and the author for the ARC!

3.5✨
It is an interesting novella, from the beginning it tells you that it does not explain "the magic" it just happens and that's it, and that's fine, I liked it, the truth is I was hooked from the beginning, it did not bore me at any time, and it was easy to read, I really liked the protagonists, my only drawback is that since it is a novel, things were done very quickly at the end, but removing that it is very entertaining honestly, I recommend it to pass the time, when you want to read something without drama, hot and even for your reading challenge.💗🥰

•Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

Midnight, Repeated is a novella by Dani McLean centring around Lauree Miller who relives December 31st, over and over again. She starts on what seems like a never ending cycle of quitting the job she hates, breaking up with her boyfriend who doesn’t see a future with her, learning to bake and connecting with her best friends brother (and long time crush), everything Lauree has done resets at midnight, and she was the only one who remembered what had happened in the previous loop. The loops allowed Lauree a chance to figure out what was truly important in life and what pieces she needed to leave behind, a chance to figure out how to get unstuck.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for an eARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review. It was a unique and enjoyable read!

Lauree is so fun and loveable, I really liked her as a character and I would have loved a full book with a lot more backstory on her and how she got to where she is at the start of the story. I enjoyed Lauree and her journey, I felt like we could be friends.

Max is also portrayed as a loveable character and I Love that he owns a coffee shop and that he compliments Lauree so often while trying not to cross the friend line.

We don’t know much about Drew other than he is a doctor and doesn’t treat Lauree very well.

This is a great little story if you just want a quick, easy, fun read. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Yes, it was a little predictable but still a great read. I really enjoyed the time loop element and although this novella is only short, there is definitely a slow burn to the romance with a dash of spice.

I know this was a novella, but I would have loved a full book with more backstory on all the characters and what had happened for Lauree to get to where the time loop happens. I am looking forward to the rest of the novellas in the Movies Magic Series

I would give this short story a 3.5, it wasn’t a 4-star for me but I did really enjoy the story and characters so I feel like it deserves more than a 3. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this novella.

Thank you Netgalley & Set the Mood Publishing for an eARC of Midnight, Repeated by Dani McLean! I’m a thriller lover at heart, but I’ve read everything written by Dani McLean and was pumped to see her latest story available on Netgalley prior to pub day. She’s an auto-buy author for me and a favorite for romcoms with the steam factor.

At 25 years old, Lauree is still pining over her best friend’s brother, Max. New Years Eve is a time and holiday for resolutions, and as the clock ticks closer to midnight she decides that in the new year she is finally going to grow up and let go of her crush - Her loveless relationship - and her job that she’s miserable with. That is, until she wakes up and it’s NYE, again…and again…and again…When you’re trapped in a time loop, how do you possibly get out of it?

I absolutely devoured this novella and wish there was more to Max & Lauree’s story. Short, sweet and a bit steamy, it was just what I needed while I was quarantined on a Friday night. Lauree didn’t have a choice in being stuck in a time loop - But the character development over the story is perfectly paced and I loved that she used it to her advantage. The story made me question - If I could do things over, really seize the day, what would I do differently? I am so excited to see that this is going to be a new series by McLean and pray pray prayyyy that we see these characters again. If you’re looking for a bite-sized, sweet novella to get your heart warm and racing, this one’s for you.

The concept of this book is what appealed to me a lot and I commend the author or whoever created the description of this book because they fid an excellent job with that. However, the actual storyline and execution? It was lacking and very boring for me. There's no tension for anything and main character was just there. She's very passive and I am constantly being pushed out of the story because of the awareness that the happenings in the surroundings and outside our MCs is what's making them act, instead of being an active character in their own book. This was just not for me.

Lauree is stuck.
She’s stuck in a loveless relationship, a miserable job, and a time loop.
She parties the night away on New Year’s Eve at her best friend’s, Max, place. And she wakes up the next day starting New Year’s Eve all over again, and again, and again.

I enjoyed this novella so much! It’s well written and relatable. I loved that Lauree used the time loop to her advantage, not that she had a choice. It was a fun and short read and now I’m excited for the rest of the series!

Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC!

Midnight, Repeated is a delightful novella: short, sweet, with a touch of steam and a heartwarming journey for the main character, Lauree. Twenty-five year old Lauree starts out on her first run through New Year's Eve stuck in a routine she hates and with a boyfriend who sucks. She's been numbed to these aspects of her life and thinks that what she needs are the things said boyfriend has said: to be more mature and advancing her career at her lackluster job, to somehow become the person he wants her to be. I wanted to give her a hug because Drew is such a condescending prick.

Her first time loop, of course, leads to some initial confusion, with Lauree trying to understand how that's possible and what the circumstances that led to the time loop are, and she starts her self-reflection by taking the first step towards improving her life (quitting her terrible job, breaking up with her terrible boyfriend). As the days repeat and Lauree stays stuck reliving New Year's Eve in a Groundhog Day-type situation, her initial momentum in making her life better slows, but the constant throughout most of her days is seeing her best friend's brother and first (and current) love, Max. Max offers up wisdom to Lauree when she gets stuck, notably by reminding her that she's great just the way she is, and that it's fine to not know who she is just yet and what she wants to do with her life; to figure it out, she should keep trying new things. It's clear why Lauree loves Max and how close of a friendship they have, and it also becomes clear that Max returns Lauree's feelings, but he hasn't acted on them. There's just the right amount of angst as Lauree fears getting out of the time loop means she'll have to stop loving Max because he doesn't return her feelings, making me a little teary-eyed for Lauree. The "I just want to be in love with you a little longer" scene made me cry a little.

I love that this novella focuses on Lauree getting to live for herself, rediscovering who she is and what she wants out of life, and finding joy for herself in all aspects of her life. Seeing how big of a part of her life Max is, from how he supports her and believes in her to how she wants to do things for him, even if he won't remember them the next day, made me root for Lauree to get her HEA. Their unconditional love for each other gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings. Lauree trying her hand at baking and keeping at it because she remembers Max's confidence in her is the sweetest, and I adored seeing Lauree become more confident in herself and determined to advance her life and keep loving Max, regardless of her ability to break the time loop. Her personal growth is so satisfying to watch, and I cheered at the epilogue. The New Year's Eve holiday theme works perfectly for this story, as Lauree gets to keep trying until she gets her new beginning right, this new phase of her life and outlook on everything. The novella length does mean that certain things aren't explored in more detail (what was holding Max back, for instance, which would have been nice to see), but I loved Lauree's journey so much that I'm fine with it. 4.5/5 stars, rounded up.

Thanks to Netgalley and Set the Mood Publishing for the ARC!
