The Wheel of the Year is a great source of information for any nature lover tuned in to seasonal beauty. It's well written in easy accessible language with clear explanations of the sabbats in a perfect format. The journey covers history, rituals, creative projects, journaling prompts, planetary and tarot connections. It doesn't happen often that I'm only pages in and already order the hard copy of a book, yet this one did!

The Wheel of the Year concept isn't new to me, but Beattie's writing is more exploratory than other books I've read. Instead of just giving prescriptions for what we should do, eat, and celebrate at each point, she explains the history and tradition behind each Sabbat. In addition, the book's introduction queues the idea that we're getting back to basics with this work -- exploring things as Wiccan founders initially introduced them without modern additions.

The inclusion of dates for both the northern and southern hemispheres is a nice touch. Of course, some of the writing is UK-centric, but that's where Beattie is from, and she does an excellent job of nodding to other locales.

A good read for anyone wanting to dig deeper!

There are a lot of books out there on celebrations, but they don’t all include the details that this book does. This book includes a view of not only the cycle of nature throughout the year, but also how they effect us. Best of all the author includes folklore along the way with rituals as well. Definitely a book worth reading!
