A debut full of exciting characters, suspense and an entertaining story.

I really liked the premise of this book! Unfortunately I did not care for the writing style, Virginia was too much in her own head and it was frustrating to try and decipher what was real and what was her magical thinking. I like dialogue rather than description so the stream of consciousness rambling was a bit of a challenge for me. Having said all that, I would try another title by Vanessa Cuti.

This was a short read, but a good read nonetheless. I liked the complexity of the plot and how suspenseful it was for being a relatively short book. The writing from Vanessa Cuti was good and I enjoyed the characters for the most part. I didn't necessarily like the main character Virginia, though, which is what lowered my rating. She was just kind of bland and had the least texture compared to others. Overall, this is a good and quick read!

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this free arc in exchange for my honest review.

I give this a 3.75 rounded down. It's a veeeery close to 4 stars, sadly.

Driven, clumsy and confused 30 years old lady who's down bad for the ring. How bad? That is for you to decide upon your own reading, fellas.

The main character narrates her every thought. Every thought, like a stream of consciousness of her awareness. And literally every single thought–including the scenarios she only imagine in her head–which often time also confuse me in reading her accounts & requiring me to read it a few times. It was mostly okay, sometimes I run out of patience too, sure, any. Giving me an unreliable narrator feel; is it what the author is going for?

Anyway as I was saying; the way our leading girl narrates her revelation got confusing at times, and the book has open ending. So, it gets more confusing. BUT. There's actually a pattern you can follow to guess what the actual ending is and a pretty good estimate of how we get there, who done it, her underlying thought process for every step and all that. But it's.. very between the line and I only notice it on my second read, reviewing parts where I felt unsure (read it way past midnight tho so maybe it's not my brain's best performance). Remember and look for the stuff she revealed at the very beginning, that'd be a helpful clue. But it is, kind of an open ending. The ending is definite, just, "what? how do we get here again??" and the book ends and cuts abruptly there. A good way to end it, I say.

Nice read, fly through it overnight. Man. One of the dude was hot and I wish him well lol.

(An E-ARC was provided to me upon request to the publisher through NetGalley in exchange of my honest review for the work, thank you for allowing me to read this!)

This novel was suspenseful and complex with a stream-of-consciousness style writing that I enjoyed. It has to do with a thirty-year-old woman, Virginia, who is searching to find a husband. She works at a tip line, that leads to a friendship with an anonymous caller that causes her to suspect a killer may be closer than she imagined. Well written and haunting. Highly recommended if you love mystery and suspense books. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

A complex novel that is well written with a great storyline. Thirty-year-old Virginia works the tip line for the Suffolk County police department and is desperately seeking a relationship that will lead to marriage. Virginia's search ends with the Chief of Police but it also opens up a perplexing relationship during a 'serial killer' murder investigation. An engaging read from start to an 'open' finish that leaves you deep in thought and stays with you long after reading.

Oh my god this book!!!! I was immediately drawn in from the first page and it was like a roller coaster of a ride to the end. Great ruler with an original plot!!!

The Tip Line
by Vanessa Cuti

Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the arc in my opinion.
I really went thru this whole book and had no idea what in the hell was going on. I kid you not. It did not end as to who the killer was or not. Like two voices, both not making sense. Just not my cup of decaf,

30 year old Virginia feels like she is behind in life. She desperately wants to be married, so she gets a job at a police station as a operator. She makes up fantasies about the men working there . There’s Charlie Ford, a handsome homicide detective, and charming police chief Declan Brady. But just as Virginia’s plans begin to fall into place , she answers a call from a mysterious woman who provides a tip about four bodies on a remote local beach. The mysterious caller Veronica, who is a sex worker, informs her of the wild parties that the police does at night. Veronica tells her that one of the police might be the killer . So Virginia decided to find out who it is. This book was okay, I found myself getting bored in the middle . Virginia doesn't really act her age , which is weird . But I did enjoy finding out who the killer is . So a 3 for me .

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of The Tip Line.

This was a disappointing read for me, mostly because I didn't like the main character.

Thirty-year old Virginia Carey only has one thing on her mind: marriage.

She gets a job working the tip line at a police station and has girlish fantasies about the men she's working with.

In fact, she spins backstories and scenarios for almost every man and person she meets.

Sometimes, I forgot how old she was, namely because her thoughts and actions are immature, like a teenager.

The author describes a socially awkward woman who is desperate to be paired up, I guess because she doesn't want to die alone.

Fair enough, but Virginia was painfully one-dimensional, uninteresting and a bore.

The same goes for the narrative; there was no drama, tension or suspense, and no urgency.

The ending is vague, which didn't bother me so much as having felt I wasted my time reading and not getting an ending.

The Tip Line is an intriguing, immersive and confusing read. Virginia Carey is 30 years old and driven to find a husband. She lands a job as an operator of the police tip line and casts her eye on Charlie Ford and Dec Brady. While varied dating scenarios and wedding bells chime in her mind, it comes crashing down with the voice of Verona, who reports our bodies on a remote local beach. While I was immersed in how Verona and Virginia's relationship of trust developed, the narrating style caught me off guard. Virginia is in her head often, and her tangents deviate from the main plot. The elements of suspicion and unsettlement linger throughout the pages, and the ending is confusing. The final word uttered as I hit the 100% mark was "huh?!". I would recommend this book if you're looking for something different to read. A 3-star read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for giving me an ARC. This honest review is left voluntarily.

Virginia is thirty and she wants to find a husband. A police tip line sounds like a great place to find a handsome unattached cop. She has her eye on a couple of guys that seem sweet and trustworthy, but then she gets a call on the tip line from Verona, a sex worker who reports four bodies on a nearby beach. She also share information about the lewd, rowdy parties that a lot of the cops Virginia has gotten to know, love to attend. The information definitely throws a monkey wrench in her matrimony plans, because the more she talks to Verona, the more Virginia knows something is very, very wrong with some of the men she works with. I wasn’t thrilled that Virginia was portrayed, at first, as a badge chaser, but as the story progressed, she became a stronger, more independent woman, one who doesn't need a ring on her finger to be happy

Well I'm just not sure what happened?! Lol this book was a little different for me?! It had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery and a kind of who done it that I'm still not sure who it was lol the storyline was interesting and flowed nicely! I will recommend reading this book as it was worth reading but it was a little confusing for me?! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
