I love the holistic approach that this book takes -- everything fits well together and makes sense, in a spiritual way. A useful book for anyone wanting some mysticism, spirituality or higher purpose to their yoga.

3 stars.

When I saw that this book was coming out, and that it pertained to two of my absolute favourite things (Kundalini yoga and the Moon), I was immediately onboard. I knew absolute nothing about this particular yoga teacher and author before opening the book.

Diving in, I was immediately torn.

I have been taught by incredibly amazing, potent and even mystically-superhuman teachers that each lineage of any healing modality must remain separate for the tools to be at their most powerful. To learn one lineage truly in depth is to maintain your own energy's focus and power. the potency of both healing and understanding increase with this form of dedication over time. Certainly, change is possible. I have myself made two changes of indepth study over the course of 3.5 decades. Also, I have taken workshops on all kinds of things separate from my own personal practice.

But, to mix together exercises/practices from various different lineages, healing modalities or even types of yoga within a certain course of study and daily practice is to (1) confuse the energies at play and (2) dilute the potency of any one practice. And THIS is exactly what this author does in this book - and it is very disappointing.

The information, instructions and even photographed examples are all quite informative and helpful. It is simply too bad that this author, like so many in the West, think that they can cherry-pick exercises from different forms of Yoga and mash them all together. I think that it is also incredibly unfortunate that these folks then go on to teach others to do the same - diluting the potential of healing for so very many. Plus, you can only teach to the depth of what you have personally grasped.

This book could have been so much more powerful if it had stuck exclusively to the lineage of Kundalini and the Moon, instead of additionally integrating other practices like sun salutations from Hatha Yoga. The silly part is that Kundalini HAS a Kriya that is very close to the sun salutations, so replacing them on what I can only imagine is personal preference does a disservice to the readers of this book.

So much gratitude to the publisher, Shambhala Publications, and NetGalley, for an advanced digital copy of this book, in exchange for my (probably too) honest review.

Discover your lunar cycle and nurture your powerful, revitalizing, feminine “lunar” energy with Moon Path Yoga. A curated collection of lunar rhythm practices, breathing exercises, mantras and recipes to provide support and balance throughout the lunar cycle.

One of the biggest highlights of this book is the visuals (over 125 colour photos) to provide practice guidance, and the inclusion of a meditation designed for couples.

Big thank you to Sierra Hollister and Netgalley for access the eARC, it has been an eye opening opportunity to develop a deeper physical and spiritual connection within my personal yoga practice.

Moon Path Yoga helps to connect to the feminine energy with spirituality and movement. It’s a way to I connect the mind, body, and spirit as one. I enjoyed all the poses and the ways we can root ourselves in all stages of life. A wonderful book, especially if you’re into Yoga or an instructor.

I really liked this book. As a yoga teacher and practitioner, I always am looking for new approaches to this ancient practice. While the book is focused on connecting yoga to the moon phases for women, I think there’s a lot about a deeper connection to the practice that could be applicable to anyone. I really appreciated the practice suggestions and the pictures that went along with them - so great to see women of different ages, backgrounds and sizes depicted.

I love the spirituality of this book. The lunar connection to all things womanhood was much appreciated. The poses were for varying degrees of skill and expertise. There was truly something for everyone; maternal, menstrual, or post-menopausal. I loved the mantras and the deep connections that those brought forth. The pictures were very helpful for a novice like myself and the descriptors were appropriate. I was very thankful to have experienced this book.

This will be a great book for women who are devoted to yoga. It’s very in depth with information and poses for various stages of womanhood including pregnancy, menopause, menstruation and more. It is inclusive of women who do not menstruate or have children. It is a very spiritual book with a lot of focus on how the moon affects us in all ways plus health, relationships and more.
