TRACE AND JESS FOR THE WIN!!
The cliffhanger…. Why o why??
Chemistry is intense , passion is palpable. I’m a sucker for mafia romance and this one didn’t disappoint.

A Dirty Business is my first Tijan novel, and even without the cliffhanger ending it won't be my last. The story grabbed my attention from the very beginning with Trace and Jess's "encounter" at the hockey game, and how they had that undeniable connection. As time unfolds, the "dirty business" becomes more apparent, and serves as a reason to keep our would be lovers apart: Jess is a Parole Officer, Trace is connected to the West Mafia family - hardly a match made in moral heaven. Lots of angst, violence, romance and action, with an added dose of great characters, this novel has everything in abundance! Very pleased I was given a complimentary ARC for an honest an unbiased review.

I love this book. I can’t wait for the second book to come out. Thank you NetGalley and Tijan for the advance copy.

Parole officer meets the criminal world. Jess and Trace struggled with what’s right and wrong. The last thing Trace wanted was romance. Jess wanted nothing to do with the mafia world. Jess had trouble written all over her and Trace loves trouble. The ending leaves you on a huge cliffhanger. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do

I am conflicted about this book. I read this because of the blurb and the fact that Bennett was one of my favorite books that still lives rent-free in my head after all these years. I took that as promising since this was also a mafia-based book. However, I have to be honest here, with this book, because I struggled from the beginning. I never connected with the story or the characters. It didn't have the transitions that I allowed fluidity in the story and forced me to backtrack several times in order to make sure I hadn't missed something or to get clarification. It was just missing all the elements that made Carter Reed and Bennett so enticing. And the ending? I am still scratching my head at how this left off. I am still lost of whether it is a cliffhanger and there will be more or it is just left up to the audience to use our imagination to all the things that were left unaddressed.

Even with my struggles connecting, I did keep reading because there was enough curiosity to see how it would end. It is for that reason that I did tough it out until the end. While this book might not have clicked with me, I am sure there are others that it will for that is the beauty of books. I appreciate this author and their hard work.

It's TIJAN. Do I need to say more? She is amazing andI am always so excited to read her books. She has developed a knack for writing stories with a mafia theme and this book did not disappoint.

Can't wait for book 2!

I just LOVE Tijans writing. I am ALWAYS ready to sign up and A Dirty Business was no different. I am a sucker for a forbidden instant vibe.

As soon as Trace sees Jess he needs to have her. Trace however, has major mob ties and Jess - Well she has badge ties.

The writing was so much fun to read. Tijan gives the best forbidden - Jess knows that Trace isn't good for her once she notices his reaction to her profession but that doesnt stop the heat these two feel. .

This was the first Tijan book that I read where the characters were a bit older than the usual Tijan characters and yes - Tijan knocks out that age group too.

Wow, what a great book! The ending left me shaken, and I can't wait for book two! It's dark, exciting, full of twists and turns, action drama, and steam! From beginning to end, I was completely engrossed in this book because of Tijan's superb writing, my love of the characters, and their incredible chemistry. It's probably one of my favorites so far. Brilliant! I really like this book, although there were some really challenging passages. Her mafia novels are among my favorites, and this one did not disappoint. Dramatic and suspenseful, it was quite dramatic. I adore Jess because she is self-reliant, courageous, and devoted. Trace is hot, fearless, and devoted. Their chemistry is extraordinary.

This is my first Tijan book but it won't be my last.

I love books that have two worlds collide. Where main characters have to question whether their attraction is worth the sacrifices and where a moral compass could go off kilter.

However this book is more than a mafia prince and a parole officer.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story going on in the background and the mystery that ensued.

All in all, the best kind of book. A forbidden romance with a whole lot of skullduggery and mysterious goings on.

I certainly didn't work out whodunnit.

Superb!

I love this book but certain parts were super hard to read. I love all of her mafia books and this one did not disappoint. It was super intense, full of drama, and suspense. I love Jess, she is independent, strong, bold, and loyal. Trace is sexy, fierce, and loyal. Their chemistry is out of this world. I like Ashton but wow there was a part of the story that just tore me up, I understood but at the same time he was not on my like list for awhile and will probably have to wait to see how I feel after his book lol. This story brings you the perspective from both sides of the law and how they both step into each other’s life dramas. This was a slow burn romance and at times I got frustrated cause I wanted them to hurry up and get together. I could not believe the cliffhanger and the unanswered questions I still have, I cannot wait until the next book. ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Kings of New York is a new mafia series from Tijan. Things kicks off with book one A Dirty Business. Wowza - it’s flush with romance, intrigue, and a healthy dose of drama. Fair warning – this is a series so do not expect everything to be tied up in a nice bow.

Jess and Trace have tons of action-packed pages to share with you. These two scream undeniable attraction. No one quite does mafia like Tijan. I’m looking forward to book two.

This book had me hoooookeeed!!!
I've been trying to read tijan and been a bit intimidated with how many books are out there so I thought I'd be okay reading a new series. This was delightful. I loved that we have older characters no high-school or collage shenanigans. We have moments where we want to shake the main characters to get their act together, we have swoonworthy moments and we have moments where the side characters really question how we feel about them. There is drama, intrigue, mystery and romance... loved this.

NOOOOOOO!

Why did I think everything was gonna wrap up with a pretty bow?!
I am IN LOVE with every single part of this book, except that ending!
I don’t know why anyone had to do me like that, but I’m holding for dear life until the next book comes out.
That is all I know.

I cannot stand when books are not marketed as having a cliffhanger. I wouldn’t have picked it up had I known.

First, I want to thank Netgalley, Tijan, and Montlake for this ARC. This is my honest opinion.

A dirty business is a dark mafia romance, between Jess a parole officer, and Trace heir of a mafia family.

I really liked this book for several reasons, the first being the complicated relationship between Jess and Trace.
I liked that the romance is not obvious, it is not a traditional love at first sight on several points. The protagonist is the one who has the most trouble getting into the relationship, she struggles a lot when Trace tries to do well and follows her wishes, and waits for her.
Until the end of the book, the relationship is not sure and we do not know how the whole story will end.
I enjoyed watching the two characters challenge their principles, values, expectations, and hopes.

I described the book as a dark mafia romance, and the story revolves around mafia family conflicts. Some scenes are a bit violent and dark, although it remains quite "soft" finally compared to other books

How much do I love Tijan’s books? Let me count the ways! I love her female characters, so strong and full of vinegar and sass. They have strong moral codes and emotions, and they don’t like to cry but they do cry when it hurts too much. Her male characters initially feel like jerks, but as the story develops, you find they have hidden depths and sweet moments. Then the plots! All of them different, all addictive! She even makes a criminal sound sweet!

Jess and Trace are on opposite sides of the law. Jess is a parole officer and she loves her job. Trace is a hedge fund manager in Wall Street, but his Uncle Steph is the head of the West Mafia, so he has roots in the dirty business. He’s on the edge, not really into the Mafia but his uncle is slowly and relentlessly pulling him in. So Trace and Jess feel like a forbidden love but that is exactly what happens when they meet. The sparks and attraction is way too much to ignore. However, Jess, with her strong moral code, rejects his advances, denies her feelings, evades and evades, because she stays true to her beliefs. I love when she gives in because the feelings are just too strong. And I loved even more how strong Trace fell, how protective, how devoted he is to Jess’ wellbeing.

I loved this story and was incredibly impatient with the slow burn of their love story. It made sense, given their positions, and the many surprises that kept coming made their story that more fascinating. There’s a ton of emotions and a ton of hurt on both sides. Jess has a mother who hates her, a brother in jail and two men who were best friends of her parents who are like fathers to her. And in the end, it all comes out in a surprising and explosive end, just like I always expect from Tijan. Addictive and enthralling!

A fascinating start to the series, this had a bit of taboo (a parole officer and a mafia prince!) a bit of darkness, a few chuckles and a whole lot of twists and turns. The story isn’t complete and ends in a cliffhanger, one that doesn’t affect the romance per say but does likely affect the way the series plays out. I also listened to the audiobook for part of the story (vacillating between the ebook and the audiobook) and really enjoyed the narration and story telling. Overall, exciting and interesting and I’m looking forward to the next book!

I received this book for an honest review

A book about a Parole Officer Jess Montell who has a bad personal life with a drunk mother and a brother in prison, both of these are explained in the story. She also has to work on her nights off at a bar just for extra money because of rent and expenses in New York City. She comes in contact with Trace West by chance at a hockey game and from there both of their lives are changed. He is part of the Mafia and his uncle wants him to take over, he along with his partner also owns the bar that she works at which she did not know but will find out. The story has a lot of emotion and is not an instant hop into each other's arms and everything will be happy, no. each is at odds with themselves and the people around them which only makes for a better book. It really gets interesting when she finds out that her dead father had ties to his uncle and that opens another set of issues. Once you get to a point where you think maybe everything is good you get to the end and find out no. this is an excellent story with very good characters and many twists to keep you going, very much worth the read.
