This was one of the best books from Tijan that I have read! Not super happy about the slight cliffhanger at the end, but excited for the next (hopefully) book!

Another mafia book that has me enthralled and obsessed! Jess and Trace are “FIRE” in every way!

I love this new mafia book and how it sits in a league of its own! The action, the angst the push and pull all of it just sucked me in!

Trace and Jess are opposites in every way but something about her calls to him and something about him calls to her! No matter what they do they can’t keep away from each other but pursuing more could be their demise!

I am in dire need of the next book because the ending has me speechless with my heart shredded! So yes there is a bit of a cliffy and I am ready for the pain book 2 is going to bring!

Reall enjoyed Trace and Jess' story, I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down. A few twist and turns.
Can't wait for the next book after that cliffhanger.

I picked this book up at 7PM on Thursday night and thought, “I’ll read a few chapters before bed”. Well, I didn’t stop until I finished the book at midnight - do with that what you will. A Dirty Business offers a killer combination of romance, suspense, action, and drama that makes it extremely difficult to put the book down, hence the dark under eyes I was rocking Friday morning. Jess and Trace are both such strong and confident characters, but somehow they still manage to compliment each other so well. From the moment they met, sparks flew off the page and I was more than happy to watch them circle each other as they fought the connection they felt with one another. The drama with the mafia and ghosts from the past led to plenty of OMG moments that had my heart in my throat. I’m looking forward to having some of my questions answered in book 2. I have no doubt it will be another enjoyable ride.

Wooo. I am still shoook from the clifffffffhanger.

I really just love Jess. I love that she never compromised her career and beliefs for the man she loves. I feel like that’s stereotypical in books that the woman falls for the man, and then sacrifices all her believes and life for him.

I enjoyed the idea of PO & Mafia leader as well. They constantly battled with how to be together.

Love Val. I love that she knew Jess wasn’t what she was being portrayed as.

Leo is just trash. A literal trash can.

I felt that the book was quick and suspenseful which kept you engaged the entire time. The drama was never ending as well.

Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for the eARC for a honest review!

Jess is a parole office and the last thing she expects is being attracted to Trace, a Mafia prince.
They try to stay apart, they really do. Not only because they are on different sides of the law. But also because everything starts getting complicated because of them.
What Jess and Trace don't know is that all those complications started a long time ago.
I liked this book. I enjoyed the twists although I didn't expect it to finish in a cliffhanger.

I did not want to put this book down! Jess and Trace meet in the stairwell at a hockey game and are instantly drawn to each other. Then Trace sees Jess’ badge (she’s a parole officer) and the two quickly realize that they’re on opposite sides of the law. I liked that despite the two of them acknowledging that a relationship between them would be bad for both of them they’re both intrigued and keep finding ways that they would be good for each other. The mafia storyline adds some high stakes as well as Jess’ abusive relationship with her alcoholic mother. I really appreciated the way the author portrayed alcoholism and how recovery can be a struggle in this. Both Jess and Trace have complicated relationships with their families and I loved how they bonded over this. The ending was a gut punch and I can’t wait to see where this series goes!

Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced review copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

WOW!! This book was so different than anything I've read before and I absolutely loved it! It pulled me in right from the beginning, and Tijan kept me hooked! I was not prepared for that ending and now we have to wait! The chemistry between Jess and Trace is so good and everything about their stories kept me engaged with the story from the start. This was my first Tijan book, and I cannot wait for more!

I really enjoyed reading about Trace and Jess. Their lives are complicated and hard to live with each other and to live without each other. This was my first time reading a Mafia Romance Suspense and quite enjoyed it. The beginning was a little slow for me but I'm so glad I stuck it out. I'm interested to see where the story continues or if each sequential book is another person from the same "family".

The cliffhanger on this …… ugggggggggh! This is the first book I’ve read by Tijan, but it certainly won’t be the last! I was hooked by the end of the first chapter, and while it took me a bit longer to finish than normal, it wasn’t due to any fault within the book - just life things getting in the way. I’ve already recommended it to a few friends in a FB book group and will continue to recommend!

“I made the vow to myself, here and now… every time I could have her, I would.”

Tijan’s ‘A Dirty Business’ explores the what happens when you feel an unbreakable connection with someone who could quite literally be your ruin. This mafioso meets parole officer tale is a bit different from Tijan’s other mafia offerings, but sets up a compelling series that I cannot wait to read more of.

Jess Montrell has always been on the right side of the law. As a parole officer, she thrives on the order of it, how it makes the jagged pieces in her life make sense. When she meets the mysterious and magnetic Trace West, she can already tell that he could be the type of person who brings chaos to this carefully curated order. Because Trace? He’s heir to one of the biggest mafia families in the country.

Told in dual, first person POV, this story does a great job of getting into the minds of both of the protagonists. Jess and Trace shouldn’t make sense together, but they do. And the more they try to stay away from each other, the more they realize that doing so is impossible.

I live for a story like that.

Add in an interesting dynamic with Trace’s best friend, Ashton (I want a book from his POV, stat), and one heck of a cliffhanger (we’re talking down to the very last line sort of cliffhanger), and you’ve got the makings of quite the series.

If you love a good push-pull, star-crossed lovers vibe, this book is it. I can’t wait to see where Tijan takes us in this series.

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is my first book by Tijan, but will definitely not be my last! I really enjoyed this all the way through, Jess is a badass and I loved the way Trace had such a soft spot for her. Jess is a parole officer and Trace is part of the mafia, they are the perfect example of two people who should never work together, but somehow they can't stay away from each other, and maybe someone they can find a way for their two livelihoods to coexist? I felt like their chemistry was a little lacking but it didn't keep me from enjoying this book. This book kept me on my toes and the ending was surprising and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. I had never heard of this author before this book but holy crap I will be looking for her name now. This book was so good I stayed up 3 hours past my bedtime to finish it. I was at 70% and could not stop until I was done. I was so into it that I got angry when it ended. Especially with the cliffhanger. I do hope there's a book 2 because ...i have so many questions.

My major reason, for loving this book was the fact that these characters did not immediately fall in bed, fall in love, get pregnant while barely knowing each other as in other romance novels. They fought each other. Tooth and nail. Which made their choice to be together so believable and so rewarding for me as the reader.

The side story was so packed with action that I was just there for the ride. I couldn't even guess at what might happen because I was being thrown for loops left and right , down to the last sentences of the book! I do hope I don't have to wait long for a second book because Im already Jones'ing.

I was not expecting this and what a nice surprise it was! So, this book literally picks up where we lost Chase years ago. It was just as devastating now as it was then because we know that all this happened with Harper. To see him struggle with everyone telling him that it is not true, that his memories were not what they seemed was hard. Watching Scarlet cope with his treatment was hard as well. She was a very strong character to put up with his antics and it was so heartbreaking and cringe worthy. I wanted to come through the book a few times and smack him! As the story progressed, he did begin to redeem himself as his memories became clearer. The whole twist was a little shocking but not surprising. I had a feeling it was someone we were not going to suspect, and she always seemed to “eager” to give her opinion to Scarlet. This book left me satisfied with the conclusion of Chase’s story because believe me, Taking Chances completely shattered me!

This is the 1st book in a new series. *NOTE* This does end on a bit of a cliffhanger. I enjoyed the push and pull between Jess and Trace. It's a bit of a forbidden romance with Jess's job as a parole officer and Trace being involved in a criminal enterprise. The chemistry between these two is fantastic and I'm really interested to see where this series goes. Hopefully the next one comes out soon.

Dirty Business by Tijan is another great one! Tijan has such a authentic writing style and her romances are top notch. The character's chemistry flies of the pages and the plot keeps me on the edge of my seat. Dirty Business has it all; mafia, action, off the walls attraction and characters that are fun to read! Loved this one and can't wait to read whatever Tijan has next!

*Thank you to Montlake, Tijan, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

I have always been curious about Tijan's books so I was excited when I was approved to read "A Dirty Business". As I have read from reviews, this is not her normal genre (mystery).

Jess Montell is a parole officer in New York. She also works nights at a trendy nightclub. Her best friend Kelly lives with her and her life is nice and calm until she meets Trace. A Mafioso and head of the West family. Both characters were mature and were growing from difficult childhoods. I loved the subtle development of their relationship and how slow it moved. Refreshingly different from most romance novels.

The issue I had was I was so focused on the relationship that I couldn't figure out what the mystery actually was. I know there was a mole and they were trying to figure out who that was but I did think the book was about Jess and Trace, and their back and forth "Should we or shouldn't we?". The end of the book leaves us with this HUGE cliffhanger that I was really surprised about. I did not see that coming! I would definitely read the second book in this series when it comes out!

DNF at 15% The premise here was so promising, and I’d already read mafia romance from this author that I’d loved, so I was excited. A parole officer heroine and an investment banker/mafia heir hero? Really all I needed to know. But this was a severe case of the POV inner dialogue being a huge turn-off right from the beginning, so by the time they have their insta-lusty meet-cute, I was not jiving. I really wanted to root for our bad-ass PO girl, but she felt forced and cringey. When she completely lost me is when she describes herself as “Normal height. Normal weight”. What does that even mean? Both POVs really read choppy and disjointed. I tried to keep going because mafia boy was a bit stalkery, but I started skimming these millisecond-long chapters at 10% and really knew I’d forget about it as soon as I put it down and, yep, glad I saved myself the cliffy pain.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to view this ARC.

The book, the characters and the relationship all lacked depth. I didn't believe their feelings for a second. I didn't even read their sexy times because they didn't make any sense. I got super frustrated, not because their relationship happened too fast but because I think I've outgrown the "instant connection" trope. Maybe i would've understood better if the way the connection was justified went further than "I'm obsessed with her" and "he's so hot", they were a disservice to the characters.

I was supplied with an ARC in exchange for an honest review from the publisher Kings of New York and netgalley.
