The only other Mafia related book I’ve read is The Godfather, this one isn’t as bloody as I thought it would be. I felt Slater and Dela’s relationship began too quickly and felt a bit forced. Dela showed little if any interest in Slater romantically. There wasn’t enough Dela chapters to get to know her more. The book focused more on Slater’s POV. More Dela chapters would have been a great addition to the story. Overall, I enjoyed the book and will read the next one because cliffhanger.

She’s Mine

I really enjoyed this book, I’ve never read a mafia themed book before and I wasn’t disappointed. Slater and his crew sounded like they would be the kind of people you’d want in your corner. I loved that they were champion mma fighters and that they taught kids for free. I would have liked to have seen a bit more backstory on this.
The story between Slater and Dale was quite predictable, but most romance novels are.
It ended on quite a cliffhanger so I can’t wait to read book 2.
Thank you NetGalley for gifting me a copy of this book.

Protected book 1
Slater
Life is good. Our business is growing. We're successfully building our fight club empire and everything's going to plan. Until one of the crime bosses asks me for a favour. Will I watch his daughter while he's out of town? I know I should say no. I don't do favours for anyone. But in a moment of weakness, I agree. How hard can it be? I'm a champion fighter, after all, respected by all the crews, there's no one who can take me on and win.
But I don't reckon on Daleylah Martinez, the twenty-two-year-old daughter of the Spanish boss...
 Dale
I've been waiting for this moment: Papa out of town I can finally escape the house and enjoy myself. Then he turns up, Slater; one of my father's gangster friends moves into our house to keep an eye on me. That's the last thing I need. Well, he can forget it if he thinks I'm doing what he tells me. And there's no way he's stopping me going out with my friends. No way.
Can’t wait to read the next book totally recommend really enjoyable read

She's Mine by Belinda Wright is book one in the Protected series.
And it was everything I was hoping it would be.
It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book that was so well executed. It grabbed ahold of me and wouldn’t let go. The angst is some of the best I’ve read and the chemistry was perfect!
I loved this book from start to finish. It was an extremely fast-paced read for me with really great characters.
The characters were phenomenal and intriguing.
The secondary characters were fabulous as well.
I was so very excited to read this one! I couldn’t read the pages fast enough.
It was such a fun read and it was never boring for me.
Wright delivered a riveting page turner!
I'm so thankful for book two.

Such a good read with a cliffhanger at the end that I wasn’t expecting. I’m so glad I had book 2 ready to start right afterwards. Highly recommend.

My Review
I received a copy from NetGalley. Book is now available.
From the moment I read the description of She’s Mine by Belinda Wright, I pressed the request button and prayed I would be approved. I had to know more about Slater. Who was this guy that a crime boss would ask a favor? Was he part of a mob? I also wanted to know why said crime boss felt that his twenty-two-year-old daughter needed a babysitter. Couldn’t she take care of herself? To say I was elated to get approved is an understatement.

I flew through this book. It was that interesting and entertaining. I got some of my questions answers but not all. Damn book ended on a cliffhanger. Now want to read book two to see how this ends. That’s the point of cliffhangers, right? To make you impatient and or eager for the next book? I will say it again: I despise cliffhangers. Tell me everything I want to know in one book, dammit. Slater is one hard dude. He, along with his brothers and best friends, run several fight clubs. Slater is the boss, both in business and in the bedroom. He needs to be in control. He craves it. Against his better judgement, he agrees to babysit Daleylah ‘Dale’ Martinez while her father is away on business.
Dale, who has been looking forward to having some freedom while her father is away, is not happy that she has a sitter. As the two spend time together, tensions begin to rise and the two fall for each other.
I love Slater, he is one protective alpha male. If anyone touches anything and anybody he considers his, they are liable to lose their hand. If anyone hurts someone Slater considers his they are dead. Slater softens around Dale. She is the only woman he lets in besides his brothers and best friends.
Dale is a shelter young woman. She knows what her father does for a living and is not part of it. I can see why she needs a sitter. Girl, does everything she is told not to. Half the time I wanted to smack her the rest of the time I was two busy calling her an idiot and double-checking to make sure she was in fact twenty-two and not TWO! Despite how frustrated I was with Dale’s actions I really enjoyed the book.
Would I read more from Belinda Wright? Yes. Would I continue the series? Without a doubt. I want to see how this ends.

Until next time peace and happy reading.
