I have to say this is certainly not your regular run of the mill novel. I can't say that I have ever read a book quite like this one. This is a unique blend of classic Emily Dickinson, psychological thriller, horror and what not combined to take the reader on a twisting, turning journey where one will be questioning the reality of all encountered! This book takes hold and spins you around until you have no idea what is happening, if it is happening or where it could possibly be leading.
Teddy is a famous playwriter with writer's block when he is commissioned to write a play about Emily Dickinson. When he can't come up with any ideas he becomes obsessed with Emily. When she comes to him one night Teddy's journey begins. Is he losing his mind or is it really Emily? Is she visiting him or is it a dream? By the time you get to the end of this book you will have become Teddy like, questioning everything! Was it all a dream or a true memory?
This is a very well written novel with lots of twists that keeps the reader on their toes, and an ending that will blow your mind! I highly recommend going on Teddy's journey and see what you can find!
Thank you to Independent Publishers Group and to Net Galley for the free ARC, I am leaving my honest review in return.

3 Stars

I'm rating this book 3 stars as I believe this book does truly have an audience who will really enjoy it.

I sadly decided to chose to dnf this book at 30% it unfortunately just wasn't for me.

Although I may not have been the intended audience. I think people who enjoy historical fiction and specifically Emily Dickenson would have fun reading this book. The first third I read was whimsical and quoted Emily regularly.

Thank you to NetGalley and Independent Publishers group for this advance teaser copy. My review is voluntarily my own.

Dark and twisted, yet strangely beautiful just like Emily Dickinson and her poetry.

I was not expecting to love this as much as I did, but I couldn't put it down.

Bravo, Eden Francis Compton, BRAVO.
