This is an interesting take on the diabetes information, however i wouldn't say this is necessarily different. I did however really enjoy reading this book and found some good tips.

This is just another in the list of diabetes books that advocate for lifestyle changes (diet & exercise) that in most cases do not work because most people cannot maintain these new requirements.. The book also contains too many long medical words that many readers find baffling.

At best this book could be seen as how far we've come since the discovery of the miracle cure that is insulin 100 years ago.

He speaks of the 'removing craze, eliminate bias' such as the plant based diet,  low carb diet or the ketogenic diet, instead he says which I think everyone can agree with is eating a healthy low fat Mediterranean diet.
However the best I got from this section of this book is that a banana has more sugar in it than a famous chocolate bar!

The mental health section brings up some interesting points, such as denial and adverse consequences. Also it pointed out the sad fact that 'diabetes (can be) a progressive disease ...usually ending in debilitating death'.

We are introduced to the 'flourishing approach' which is rather than fixing problem 'the goal of avoiding complications it helps people identify and build on what they're doing well. See more of what is possible and to achieve their best health'. Basically it appears to treat the whole human being rather than focusing on just the illness that is diabetes.

As a person with diabetes, as we are lead to believe is the correct terminology to use-according to the Americans Diabetes Association. I was looking forward to reading this book but all I really got out of it was a lot of positive affirmations rather than straight forward advice. There was also no clear chapter divisions, it just didn't seem to do anything differently as was promised in the title. It read more like a educational p zzz per than a novel, hence the lower stars=sorry.

Many thanks  to NetGalley and the publishe as I recieved a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
