I did not read the synopsis because I was so intrigued by the cover and title. I really enjoyed this twisty thriller and here are some things I loved:

1. The pandemic was written into the plot. There have been a few now, but this was the first one that I felt like lockdown was not "too soon" to be in a fictional story.
2. It was so twisty in a simple but surprising way.
3. I thought the narrators did a great job! (I listened to the whole book on audio.)

Her Perfect Twin by Sarah Bonner

I cannot say enough good things about this book!! It is Sarah Bonner’s first novel, and she hit this one out of the park.

Megan and Leah were identical twins, and it was hard to distinguish which twin was whom. Megan is a corporate employee, scholar, and married. Leah is wealthy from selling family expose and is a social media influencer.

Leah wants everything that Megan has, but at the expense of Megan. It was one thing to take anything away from Megan, but it was only worth it if Megan knew and became emotionally distraught by it.

Megan finds photos of her twin on her husband’s phone. When Megan confronts Leah, the conflict turns to murder. In a moment of panic, Megan decides the only way get away with the murder is to act as though it had not happened and become both sisters.

“But then lockdown this. How can she continue living two lives? And what happens if someone else knows her secret too?” (quote from Goodreads).

I received access to the audio version of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own. I gave this book a five-book stack but only because I couldn’t give it six (my scale is up to five).

I have been recommending this to everyone. Get your copy and tell me what you think!!

Thank you to Netgalley for my ALC. Audiobook narrated by Daphne Kuoma and she has the perfect voice tone to her narration of this story by Sarah Bonner. Audio length is 9 hours and 58 minutes but it is a quick listen.

Storyline is suspenseful and grips you from the first chapter. You want to continue listening to see the mystery behind this suspenseful domestic thriller.

What would you do if you found out your identical twin sister was cheating with your husband? Not to be missed and you will not want to stop listening this audio at all.

Thank you NetGalley and Hatchet publishing for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well, the twin trope has been done, but the twists and turns in this, wow. You think you know what’s happening, BAM! Then you think, ahhh, I see….BAM! I couldn’t get enough! All the characters are narcissistic, lying, gas lighting, awful people, but that’s ok because the story is so good! Some things were a bit far fetched, but it was such a fun ride, I didn’t care! I look forward to more from this author!

I really enjoyed the first half of this book, though it was a bit difficult to follow the audiobook. While the narrator is very expressive, it was tough to tell who was speaking, especially between Megan and Leah. But even so, it was intriguing to see how Megan would navigate all the obstacles to her plan to replace Leah while still keeping her identity as Megan at the same time. There was suspense at every turn, and when lockdown struck, I was really curious how Megan was going to get out of it.

And then, halfway through the book, the POV changes completely to Chris, who proceeds to walk us through the entire story of how he gaslit Megan and developed his affair with Leah, in excruciating detail. While it is important to the story to know how he messed with her head, hearing it through his narrative ended up being a lot of telling and not much showing, and worse, told from the perspective of a completely unlikeable and unrelatable character. The point where Megan realizes his plan and that she's stuck with no way out would've been a fantastic place to keep showing through her eyes and perspective, hearing her thoughts on how the heck is she going to get out of this. But instead we just see Chris's interpretation of her facial expressions, all mixed with his degrading and vicious commentary. I listened a bit more, hoping it would change back to her POV, or at least pick up consistently with the story in progress, but instead Chris kept droning on about how he and Leah manipulated Megan and his family and blah blah blah until I had to give up and DNF. Chris's narrator is wonderfully evil-sounding, but I just couldn't stick with it any longer.

Megan’s twin sister Leah has always coveted her belongings, but Leah goes too far by engaging in an affair with Megan’s husband Chris. Megan decides to confront her sister. Soon, Leah’s body is hidden away and Megan is living two lives—her own and Leah’s. As she tries to get away with murder, Megan finds that walking in a Leah’s shoes comes with perils and perks, such as Leah’s considerable fortune.

The twists and turns make the book a wild ride. I liked how the COVID-19 lockdown became a barrier in the story, limiting Megan’s activities by keeping her sequestered with Chris.

Having the points of view of multiple characters, all expertly brought to life by audiobook narrators Daphne Kouma, David Morley Hale, and George Weightman, enriched the story by deepening characterization and adding insight into their internal thoughts. The final point of view provided in the book is that of a brand new character. At first, I found that choice a bit jarring, but as the book progressed enjoyed the third party perspective.

I would have liked another couple of scenes showing Megan and Leah interacting before the murder and a bit too much hinged on the final scene, but otherwise really enjoyed the book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks to Hachette Audio for providing an Advance Reader Copy via NetGalley.

I have listened to the audio and wow, I loved it. I couldn’t get enough and finished it within a day. It’s such a fast paced domestic thriller/mystery. So many twists I did not see coming. I absolutely loved the multiple POVs, they gave so much more dynamic to the story. It really made it come alive. I felt like I was in it. Also the first time where I appreciated the COVID lockdown element in the story. Definitely a must read!

Thank you so much Netgalley, Sarah Bonner, Hatchette & Grand Central Publishing for the copy of this audio ARC.

This book started out with a bang and I was hooked from start to finish. Despite some parts being hard to believe I loved the plot and the style of this book.

The narrator was amazing and the ending was so clever.

I overall enjoyed this audiobook and would recommend it to anyone who loves domestic thrillers and suspense that pack a good twist.

I received an audio version of this book from Net Galley in exchange for a review.
I was intrigued right away by the description.
Megan and Leah are identical twins, so interchangeable that they swap places as they choose throughout their lives. However, in recent years, they've grown apart. Megan settles down and marries, while Leah is somewhat of a celebrity/influencer. But when Megan sees photos of herself on her husband's phone in clothing she doesn't recall, she realizes there's only one explanation. The confrontation between the twins leads to one of them dead, while the other takes control of her life. This is facilitated somewhat by the onset of COVID, where everyone is in lockdown and virtual. But the ruse can't go on indefinitely, and someone knows her secret.
I liked the twists and turns this one took!

This debut is absolutely fantastic.! Sarah Bonner is certainly one to watch as this was an edge of your seat read. Perfectly narrated, I loved the back and forth between the twins, trying to work out who was really who which I thought was very cleverly done.

Leah and Megan are poles apart as twins, their lives so very different however Leah, some would say the more successful twin, has a penchant for taking what Megan has. This starts in childhood and spills into adulthood.

Combined with a narcissist husband who has a plan of his own the reader feels that Megan is all but done for.

The story very quickly reels you in and keeps you on your toes throughout. I didn't feel that chapters towards the end from the point of view of the solicitor/barrister were necessary, however it didn't distract from the story which ultimately is a power struggle between the twins.

A thrilling read that I highly recommend. Can't wait to see what Sarah Bonner does next. Thanks to the publisher and author for an advanced listen to Her Perfect Twin.

This fast paced thriller was super twisty and started out strong. It had 5 parts and the first 3 had me thoroughly entertained.

However, once it hit part 4 it lost some steam. And sense. The POV and information provided there didn’t seem to fit or add anything. I expected more from the ending, but instead was left unsatisfied and a bit confused.

I liked the plot of the story, but listening to it there were so many twists and turns I found it difficult to stay up with what was happening and who did what. Maybe this would be better reading than listening.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

To say I didn’t expect all the twists would be putting it mildly. I loved the different point of views and how they were done so that it was still very easily understood and followed. Overall I really enjoyed the book. An amazing debut for Sarah Bonner! I look forward to reading more. My only wish was for a little more at the end.

This was such a wild ride. I was so confused back and forth on which sister was which. But it was confused in a good way. Liked all of the twists that kept coming and also the different point of views 3/4 of the way in. It gave you a perspective of what all the characters were doing.
Narrators did a great job as well.

5/5
TW: cheating, accidental murder, lying, spousal abuse, gaslighting a spouse
This book was really triggering to me and I almost DNFed it. I’m so glad I pushed through! This is a really unique ‘domestic thriller’ with so many twists I didn’t see coming!
If the premise sounds interesting to you, I highly recommend it!

Thank you to NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing, and Hachette Audio for this ARC in audiobook format.

The ending of this book makes me want to go back and re-listen to the beginning. I had erroneously thought that it did not have enough tension when initially listening. How wrong I soon learned that I was.

I adore twin-themed books as well as swapped-lives stories, so this was an ARC I eagerly requested.

My initial thought when beginning this book was that Megan was a sympathetic character, but to me she read more like one in a rom-com than in a thriller in which she killed her own sister.

Then, close to the mid-point, the book sucked me right in.
I loved the idea of Meghan switching to Leah.

I also enjoy peeks inside of others’ Covid lockdowns and the addition of this challenge to Megan’s plan kept me in suspense.

I was enthralled when the POV unexpectedly switched to Chris, the deviant he is shown to be, then thrown harder when it turned to selfish, shallow, opportunistic Leah’s.
And lawyer Jeremy Crumpton’s turn in part four offers comedic snark (“Oh the fun we will have” [with his personal and professional successes after association with the case]).
“The case is sick and twisted and I am so in love with it already.”

This book contains twists times four! It had me guessing forwards and backwards.

It is a “Wait…what?” story for sure.

Each point of view presents a complete lack of moral upstanding and yes, it makes for delicious reading! Who will “win?”

Four stars.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Hatchette Audio for the ARC of this book. This is my first book by this author, and I was really impressed with her writing.

Megan discovers that her husband is having an affair with her estranged identical twin sister so she decides to take action. I agree with others that the middle of the book, during the pandemic, was rather slow, but it picked up.

I loved the twists and turns in this book and would recommend this to all of my reader friends.

Megan and Leah were identical twins usually with twins their own personal distinction is who was born first and that’s something they really didn’t know although Leah claim the title of older twin. She also claimed everything Meg had The biggest rift they had according to Meg was that Leah took the book they were writing and made it into her own expose of being a twin but that’s before Meg found out that her twin was sleeping with her husband despite never having met him but again that’s what Megan thought. When she goes to confront her sister the confrontation turn into a murder but it wasn’t Leah who came out on top it was Meg and now she was left with having to figure out what to do. She decides to be Meg and Leah and it seems to work pretty good until forced isolation happens. But again that’s what my thought. Someone knows about the murder and instead of confronting Meg the man “Leah“ has fallen in love with is accused of the murder can Megan find a way to get to her true happiness with the man she truly loves and if she does well she have to pretend she’s Leah until the day she dies? This book was so good and although there was a few times I rolled my eyes and thought “really?“ I still didn’t pause it or want to stop listening and that’s the true greatness of the book if you must find out what happens at the end and OMG what an ending! I have never read a book by the Sauthor but I definitely wouldn’t say no to reading another. I really enjoyed the different narrators and thought the one who was doing megs husbands voice sounded like a proper a hoe but he was supposed to so kudos to him. The narration was great and that always makes for a great audiobook. I received this book from net galley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Wowza! If this is Sarah Bonnet’s debut I cannot wait to see how twisty her next book is! This is one of the twistiest books I have ever read, which had me staying up way to late to find out what happened. I had to read the last page about 5 times just because my brain could not believe what was the final plot twist.

Don’t even go into this book reading the summary because you will want to have a completed open mind while reading this book.

I switched between reading the book and listening to the audiobook. The audiobook had a full cast and consisted of Daphne Kouma, David Morley Hale, and George Weightman. I loved the full cast and it resulted in an amazing audio!

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing, Hachette Audio, NetGalley, and Sarah Bonners for the #gifted copies!

My review will be posted on Instagram (thriller_book_sisters) on 9/26/22.

Thank you so much for the ARC. Reviewing audiobooks gives me so much joy.
I don't know why I love these messed up thrillers about twins. You would think as a twin mom I would avoid them but I love it.
The tropes are fun, even if I know that twins aren't actually hard to tell apart if you actually know them. I don't need to see mine to know who is who. They have different "essences". But you know what? Chris could never. He is way too self centered. These girls had/have being evil twins figured out.
Anyway, this was so twisty. I loved it.
The narrators were perfect for their roles.
