If you like Buffy, this book deserves a try. Great story with insta-love trope. Thank you NetGalley for giving me a chance to read it.

This was a very middle-of-the-road book for me. But I do know people I can recommend this book to that will love and enjoy it.

DNF at 12% *

This book definitely made me feel some nostalgia. Reminded me of the days I first picked up books like The Mortal Instruments. But TMI was better written. I just couldn't get into it. The writing felt incredibly juvenile and messy, the characters were flat, the plot wasn't making any sense, the world building was kind of eh. I let this book rest for almost two days just in case I hadn't been in the mood for this kind of book, but alas, I am in the mood to read something urban fantasy, just not this one. There's just too much wrong with it in my opinion.

* 12% of the whole trilogy, chapter 12/25 of the first book.

My oh my do I love a good vampire story and this one does not disappoint. I did find it a little tricky to get into initially but once I found my grove, I could not stop reading. Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer are going to die for this book.

I really don't want to give too much away, because so much happens, but the love story between Emma and Jake is beyond this world. These two characters are really what pulled me through the book and I honestly could not get enough. I enjoyed this book so much, I really don't have anything bad to say at all. Would definitely recommend!

The Violet Night trilogy is an extraordinary journey that will leave you feeling like a whole new person. It will bring forth all of your emotions and leave you with nothing left to be untouched. The beautiful and powerful message that emerges throughout these books is sure to leave you with nothing left to be untouched. I couldn’t help but feel that this journey has already been tattooed on my own body. The way that this story has been told has permanently changed my life.

After losing her parents in a tragic accident, Emma suddenly finds herself in a new life and an unknown fate. She is left completely broken and alone. Her only hope is to find some form of salvation through a mysterious janitor named Gabriel. He offers her protection, friendship, and eventually his heart. Together, they will begin to unravel the mystery of her new life and find out what it is that she is truly meant to walk.

After slowly opening her eyes to her new life, Emma finds herself alone once more as Gabriel is viciously taken from her. She is reduced to walking aimlessly through the days as she tries to figure out what her new life is all about. At a party, she accidentally collides with her future at the same time. Nothing will ever be the same, but Emma can allow herself to let herself be with those who are entering her life in order to find the love she has been longing for. She can also accept the hope that she has been created for.

I fell in love with the characters that were featured in these books. They were so captivating and I couldn’t help but feel that they pulled at different parts of my heart throughout the course of the story. The depth of their characters was also inspiring. I will never forget how these characters affected me. The Violet Night trilogy has become one of my favorite books of all time. I have never read anything by Lynn Rush before. I was beyond impressed by her talent and am now a huge fan of her. She is a remarkable author who has a talent that cannot be contained. You will not want to miss out on any of her work as I believe that she will continue to produce amazing works. The Violent Night trilogy will be one of your favorites.

This was a great new book for the world of Vampires and those who hunt them. I have always been a die hard fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and those like it growing up. And this one has found its way into my ultimate line up for wonderful additions to these stories. The cast of characters, the plot, and even the cover are just so amazing good!

Violet Night is all three of the books in the series in one. We follow Emma a vampire killer that doesn't need to sleep or eat. She meets Jake someone that is very similar to her and bam insta-love. I don't mind an insta-love but this one was just not my cup of tea. There's bad guys, and secrets as we follow the characters. I found the series interesting but it will not be on my favorites list.

Insta love meets virginity-is-powerful trope. This just wasn't for me. When I heard paranormal romance/vampires/etc. I assumed it'd have more grit. It really didn't. Good premise, solid writing. Just not my thing. I want more umph to my romance. And much less God talk.

Pt 1: Violet Midnight

This book has such a nostalgic Buffy feel! Buffy is my favorite TV show of all time, so this book brought all the feels. It sets up the Violet Universe quite nicely - Emma is a Vampire Hunter. She woke up in the hospital after an accident that killed her parents with a mark that warns her of vampires in close proximity, a calling and a 74.7 body temperature. She doesn't eat, she doesn't sleep - but she can't let the world know that. She's at college in Arizona, studying by day and killing vamps by night.

Then she meets Jake. They are inexplicably drawn to each other. He has impenetrable skin and a mark on his arm, as well. Is he some kind of Hunter, too? As they spend more time together, they realize they have a lot in common, but why? Digging into both their pasts becomes messy, and once they find out more about each other, things get tricky.

I love Emma and Jake's chemistry, and I can't get enough of where this story is going.

Pt 2: Violet Dawn

Time for a little second-act misdirection! This Buffy-esque college fantasy ramps up the romance in this installment. Or, well, maybe not romance, but steam, definitely. But it's not even the good kind of steam. It's complicated. Violet Dawn picks up a bit after the events of Violet Midnight, with Jake and Emma a bit concerned that there has been no vamp activity recently when BAM their external warning system goes off. In the fray, they meet Max, a weird little dude who suddenly becomes 100% obsessed with Emma.

With the arrival of a new Big Bad (to borrow a Buffy-ism), is Max there to help or hurt? Jake is uber wary of the newcomer, but Max says all the right things to make Emma trust him. Personally, I kept rooting for Jake to knock Max on his butt. I am not a Max fan haha! Is he good? Is he bad? I can't spoil that for you!

I love that these books are dual POV between Jake and Emma. We'd lose a lot if we weren't getting both sides. Jake really loves Emma, and Emma really loves Jake. Without knowing both sides it might seem like a crush on a colleague or something. The way Jake thinks about Emma, and the way he talks to and about her really makes me smile. I love a Book Boyfriend who isn't afraid to express how he feels about his girl. And I love it when he calls her "my girl." Makes my heart melt a little. Jake is in my Book Boyfriend Hall of Fame.

There's lots of steam, but some of it is unexplainably connected to the Big Bad. I don't wanna spoil, and you'll just have to see for yourself. Can't wait to read the next installment - even tho I'm not ready for my time with Jake and Emma to be over.

Pt 3:: Violet Storm

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book, provided by Netgalley as part of the Violet Night trilogy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I'm having a problem putting my love for this series into words. I am a HUGE Buffy fan, and this series had the action, the wit, the heart and the cheesiness of Peak Buffy - because let's be honest, Buffy was definitely cheesy at times. This series had all the best elements of Buffy, plus it's got Jake Cunningham, the newest edition to my Book Boyfriend Hall of Fame.

As Emma and Jake prepare to take out the Biggest Bad of Them All, they are also preparing to get married. But after Jake's parents, especially his mother, start acting cold toward Emma, they decide to elope. That simple act sets in motion the biggest fight of their lives - will everyone make it out?

I was tense for a good portion of this book. Emma had to witness some seriously messed up stuff at the hands of the enemy, and it almost tore her away from Jake. There is an HEA, and I think I want more of this story later haha!

Bonus: Novella, A Hunter Revealed

In this prequel, Emma wakes up in the hospital with Gabriel by her side and the mark on her arm. It takes us through the first few months of Emma's Hunter training, and it shows how Gabriel's love for her (and vice versa) grows. It's a nice way to understand Emma's emotions and standoffishness at the beginning of the series.

It really does read like buffy the vampire slayer vibes but it builds slowly. Even with the action it was hard to fall into the world. The writing style works but the text font in the epub is hard on the eyes.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book left me with mixed feelings. Very fun ideas but also some very tired execution.

I love a good vampire book, and this one jumped right into the action so I expected to love it. The main character, Emma, is special, she does not need to sleep, eat/drink, use the restroom etc. She can also seemingly summon weapons, erase memories, and kill vampires.

Emma and Jake are your typical early 2010s fantasy main characters (nothing wrong with that). And I love Insta-love books however, this one just didn’t suck me in and may have been too instant. Unfortunately I DNF’d the book approximately 20% in.

Thank you to netgalley and publishers for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

The Violet Night Trilogy is a truly phenomenal and spectacularly riveting journey that will ignite your imagination and set your heart aflame. This story and its astounding characters will pull every human emotion from your very soul. Nothing is left untouched as its sweeps through your very being and calls to you in a way that no other story ever will. You can’t deny the gentle power and magnificent message that flows effortlessly throughout the pages of these three incredible books. I couldn’t bear to see this journey end because the way there was paved with all of the pain, joy, tears, and happiness that was found within my own heart. This story has permanently tattooed itself to my very being, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
