A fun story for little ones getting a new baby in the family. It’s sweet to show Owen getting some one on one time that he needed. It was well written and I think the interactions model accurate and appropriate behaviors. I do wish the transition from Owen’s fit to being at the park with dad was a bit more flushed out, though. All in all, a nice story for little ones in this stage of life.

This little book is for little ones who feel left out and sidelined on the arrival of a new baby at home. Owen doesn’t like that his daddy is busy with the baby. But daddy promises him a day out, and they go to explore the city. Owen first feeds corn to the ducks, plays at the park, and orders food to take home for lunch.
He is happy to spend time with his daddy and is more loving towards his sibling. The book is rather simple but sweet and cute. I wish it had a line or two where Owen and his dad talk about the new member of their family. That said, the book is more for parents to ensure they divide their time between the kids.
The illustrations are cheerful and childlike. Kids will love the slightly turned-up button noses and color-pencil-sketched (or is it crayons) hair of the characters. I liked the happy vibes in the book. It sure made me smile.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and Clavis Publishing and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a lovely book for a child who is adjusting to being an older sibling. The importance of setting aside special time for the older one is the theme of this picture book.

Owen’s daddy is pretty busy. He is playing with the baby. Owen feels left out but…he gets his dad to agree that they will do three things together. Off they go to have a fun time away while Mom has the baby.

Read this book and enjoy the illustrations with that big brother or sister. Then try to do even more together. Adult and child will both benefit

Many thanks to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing. All opinions are my own.

There's a new baby in the house and Owen wants his Daddy to play with HIM instead of the baby. Daddy takes Owen outside and Owens learns that there are benefits to being the older child.
The illustrations by Davilyn Lynch are delightful, colorful, vibrant, and imaginative.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age. Also available in Spanish
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Clavis Publishing via NetGalley. Thank you!

Owen is feeling a little lonely since the new baby was born and wants to spend the day with his daddy. This is a great book for someone that has a new baby in their life. The art work is beautiful and fun. The story is sweet without over doing it. Great buy for a public library and perfect gift for a kiddo with a new sibling.

Every older sibling goes through a phase where they feel left out. This book does a good job of showing not only what it means to be an older sibling, but also how fun it can be to get some alone time with parents.

I do with there were more colors as the many greys made it seem a little dreary.

This is a story of Owen, a little boy who feels left out after the arrival of his baby brother.

When his dad sees this, he asks Owen what he wants and they spend time doing it.

This story conveys the importance of spending time with the older kids to help them feel included in the joy of welcoming a new arrival.

This ARC conveys this message effectively.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book! Below is my honest review.

Summary of plot:
Owen asks his dad to do something with him when he realizes that his dad is spending too much time with the baby. They do three activities together: feed the ducks, play on the playground, and ate lunch.

Pros about the book:
✔️ Warm story about parents bonding with their children
✔️ Great father-son relationship
✔️ Scene of them feeding corn to ducks (NOT BREAD!!!)

Cons about the book:
❌ None

Would I recommend this book? Sure!
