Kelsey and Cade have pranked each other since they were in elementary school. It used to drive Kelsey crazy and she was finally out of reach when she moved away for college and completely changed when she got engaged. She decides to come home for one more summer and work on her family farm when she finds out that her dad has hired Cade to work there over the summer as well. She is furious but as the summer goes on, the pranks start back up. There is obviously sexual tension between Cade and Kelsey, but she does stay loyal to her fiance. When he tries to make her wear a certain wedding dress that happens to be a size smaller, Kelsey starts to run and eat barely anything so that she can fit in the dress. When she goes out on a run, Cade decides to join her and Kelsey almost faints from not eating anything. This starts numerous fights and leads to Kelsey calling off the wedding. That leaves room for Cade to step in....

I really like Cade and Kelsey's chemistry but I would have liked to see some of his POV as well as more of an ending. I felt like them getting engaged at the end at the same time he asks her to move with him after only being together a short amount of time was kinda silly and abrupt.

This is a fun, flirty frenemies to lover's romance. Kelsey and Cade have been pranking each other since grade school, but not in a fun way. Oh no! Theirs is an all-out war to see who can best each other. Nothing is off limits - the more embarrassing the better. But that was during her childhood. Now out of college, Kelsey returns to her family farm to plan her wedding. How was she supposed to know her dad had hired Cade, her nemesis, for the summer. Time spent with Cade over the summer allows her to see him in a whole new light. Maybe he isn't such a bad guy after all, and he is very handsome - not that she is looking. The narrator is excellent - just the right amount of voice inflection to make this fun and interesting.

This book is absolutely amazing!! One I’ll recommend if anyone asks for a cute RomCom. Cade is the best farm boy and imagining that grin with his baseball hat…*sigh*. One thing I loved about this book—there were a lot of things actually—was the prank war. It wasn’t malicious or anything, more that both Kelsey and Cade found joy by teasing each other with pranks. And Red as a nickname—adorable. 😍

The audiobook was great, I mostly listened to it at 1.25-1.5 speed, but that’s because I like to listen to books faster than your usual person. The narrator did a good job emphasizing Kelsey’s mood and thoughts.

Overall, this was a fabulous audio book and I’m in love with this book!! It deserves ten stars for sure!

That Fine Line by Cindy Steel

I loved this cute romcom filled with an epic prank war on a small town ranch. The chemistry between Kelsey and Cade was phenomenal, their banter witty and fun. You could feel their lifelong connection of growing up in the same place and getting under each other’s skin.

The audiobook was easy to listen to. I really felt like Kelsey was in my head. I could understand what she was going through and how hard and confusing it all was.

Have you ever thought you knew what you wanted until you head back to your roots and realize you want something else entirely? I think many people in their early 20s experience this. I know I did. It was easy to relate to Kelsey and her experiences even though I’ve never been through what she has. Steel did an amazing job at bringing her to life and creating a character you can really connect with.

Content: extreme lengths to lose weight

This was a fun book! I saw it all over bookstagram and finally decided to give it a try. My hesitation that I’m not big on pranks. I was worried for nothing though because the pranks were fun and there was much more to the story. Not gonna lie, I found Kelsey very frustrating at the beginning, but she won me over. Good story with good pacing. I listened on audio and really enjoyed the narrator.

Thank you, Netgalley for the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a cute and sweet and Hallmarky clean enemies to lovers Rom Com. It was the perfect break and palate cleanser after all the dark thrillers I usually devour. The banter between Kelsey and Cade absolutely makes the book. And the audiobook narrator did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life. Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ARC.

Reading the blurb originally, I thought this book would read a little like Sweet Home Alabama (love that movie) and other various Hallmark movies I've watched during the years. While it did have my favourite elements from those movies (farm girl goes to big city, finds a man and then returns home and turns back to the girl she was before etc), it wasn't entirely what I expected. Without adding too many spoilers to this review, I can say that there were plenty of laughs to be had and even though the plot was fairly predictable, I devoured this feel-good story in less than 24 hours. I did feel that the end of the book tied up a little to quickly for me. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a witty rom-com.

I listened to the audiobook version which was great.

* I was provided an ARC audiobook of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review of this book. All opinions are my own, as always.*

Going into this I was already a fan of this book so I knew I’d love that aspect, but that raised the question of the narrator. The narrator had a good inflection, keeping her tone even and engaging the audience. I sped it up quite a bit and it was still clear. It was a good audiobook.

Such a cute book! The entire story was easy to follow. I read via audio, and could easily imagine each scene. The Narrator was so bubbly, which made the story even BETTER! I’m a sucker for a good enemies to lovers trope. The ending was such a good twist! Will def be telling others to buy or get this book from the library. Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read/review this book! Well done, Cindy!

This book was such a cozy read, it made me nostalgic for my small hometown. This is the first book I have read by Cindy Steel, but it is the second in the Pride and Pranks series. I will absolutely be looking to read the others in the series. The Narrator fit the characters perfectly.

Kesley returns home to her family's farm in Idaho to plan her wedding to the son of a high profile California power couple. To Kelsey's dismay, Cade, her childhood nemesis, was hired by her father to work the farm for the summer. While Kelsey's relationship with her fiancé, Parker, wanes, her relationship with Cade strengthens. Cade begins looking out for Kelsey's health, when Parker is driving Kelsey to lose weight for their wedding.

Parker is a Grade A piece of crap and every one seems to see through his façade. But slowly, Kelsey starts to realize it as well.

The banter between Kelsey and Cade makes the entire book worth it. The happy ending seemed a bit rushed at the end, but it was what I was rooting for the entire read.

Ohhh I do love a good enemies to lovers trope and this one fit the bill. I have a hard time when people cancel weddings but this one actually made me happy- especially after the whole dress debacle (that had me steaming). Plus, it was set on a farm - swoon!

🌀Synopsis
Kelsey returns home to her Idaho farm in the summer before her wedding. She’s intent on using the time to plan her wedding with her mom and coordinate with her fiancé in California. Everything is going well until she finds out that her dad hired her arch nemesis, Cade, who will also be working on the farm for the summer.
It doesn’t take long for the shenanigans to start. Kelsey and Cade have played pranks on each other for years and it looks like this summer will be no different.

Kelsey still has a wedding to plan though so between pranks she finds out that the florist shop can’t get the fancy lilies she needs and the dress she is supposed to wear is a size too small. She starts to figure out that the girl she was in college isn’t the girl she really wants to be and finally calls off the wedding.

When the other farmhands set Cade & Kelsey up on a date it’s immediately apparent that the pranks were just their way of falling in love with each other.

YES!!! This was everything I was wanting in a fun, trickster, RomCom. The setting spoke to my soul… the community of the ranch in Idaho with small town charm, Cindy Steel name has been floating around in the bookstagram community lately and I was so excited to see she had an audio offered on netgalley. Now time to by the physical for my shelf. I loved this prank wars… enemy’s to lovers,, farm life book and so excited to read the next one Double Or Nothing!

“All I wanted was a quiet summer on my family’s ranch in Idaho…

I didn’t think that was too much to ask. With my fiancé in California, I was back home for three months to plan my wedding. I had colors to pick, cows to milk, and a wedding dress to squeeze into.

Which was why I didn’t need anybody messing with me.

Especially not the guy who had dedicated his whole life to making mine a joke. The guy who filled my high school locker with frogs and my hot car with cans of tuna. I mean…I always got him back. But not this summer. Things were different now. I was engaged. I had grown up. I would NOT fall victim to Cade’s pranks, teasing, or his manly charms.”

This book was an adorable bit of YA fluff. It delivers exactly what it’s meant to deliver. It makes no promises and offers no apologies.

I like a good Enemies to Lovers trope. I loved the bits with her diary, past and present. I liked that there was a hint of a story brewing between her best friend and brother.

I didn’t love all the negative body talk. I didn’t love that she was set to follow ANOTHER man around, after giving the first one the boot.

But honestly, most of the annoying bits (the lack of communication, the “But this was CADE WILLIAMS!”, the allowing others to make all the decisions) I’m able to chalk up to the fact that the characters are in their early 20s and their brains aren’t yet fully cooked.

6/10

Thanks to NetGalley and DreamScape Media for this cotton candied ARC.

A fun romance that brings a long-term prank war/feud to a head when Kelsey comes home for the summer to help on her parents' ranch. I love that this is set in Idaho and describes the farm so well. The characters are well developed and their history is brought into to today with peeks into Kelsey's journal over the years. If you are looking for a fun, clean cut romance with an "enemies to lovers" theme with a side dish of "lovers triangle" that will cause you fits of giggles then this is the book you are looking for! The narrator does such a great job of bringing Kelsey to life by helping you feel her emotions, fears, laughter and joy! I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to go find more from this author!

That Fine Line by Cindy Steel
Narrated by Stefanie Kay

Kelsey and Cade. Don't those names sound like they'd be in a big heart? Never happened because Cade has been Kelsey's arch prank enemy since the second grade.

Kelsey has just graduated from college and she's home for one last summer before her big wedding to her wealthy college fiancé. She grew up on a dairy farm/working ranch and going away to college changed her into a different person. She went from a fun loving, low key country girl to someone who is a serious, career minded, fancy dress wearing rich guy's wife to be. Sure, there are stresses to be had with having to meet a rich family's high standards in all things. But this is her now, she's not a country girl anymore.

Why did she even decide to go home for the summer? She has a wedding to plan and she thought it would be the thing to do, plan a wedding with her mom, pick out a dress, flowers, all those wedding things that a girl dreams of doing. The old Kelsey had dreamed of marrying in her dad's pasture but she's not that Kelsey anymore. The new Kelsey has a fiancé who is willing to let him mom plan their wedding and who wants her to cut her summer at home short to be with him.

Kelsey has always kept a journal detailing every single prank that country boy Cade played on her throughout all her growing up years. She had to prank him back so those pranks are in the journal, too. And there are lists of what she wanted when she grew up. Lists that are so different than the life she's going to be leading. Coming home is tugging at those past wants and Kelsey is seeing what pre college Kelsey is leaving behind by embracing the new post college Kelsey forever forward.

Can you believe it? Her arch prank nemesis, Cade, is living and working on her dad's farm for the entire summer. They've called a prank truce but old habits die hard. And Cade's really filled out and grown up. He actually looks like the kind of guy she wanted to marry someday in her dad's pasture. But she's different now, right?

This is a sweet, funny, silly story which hits on some serious issues about halfway through the book. That's when it got really interesting since pranking can seem so second grade. Not that I think pranks will ever not be a part of Kelsey's life. Stefanie Kay did a fine job of narrating this story that is so clean that no doors had to even be closed.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ARC.

What a fun and sweet childhood frenemies to lovers story, even though there was a love triangle. I LOVE the way that the prologue sets the stage with a detailed childhood memory, and from there it only included a small paragraph at the start of each chapter with journal entires giving us flashbacks for more context into their relationship. For the most part this was a quick, light and fluffy read. But caution, there is an underlying theme of unhealthy eating/exercise with high pressure to lose weight quickly. I’ve had this book in my Kindle library for a while but it wasn’t until now that it’s available on audio that I finally got to read it and I’m SO happy! The narrator was lovely.

You’ll especially enjoy this book if you like the following:
▪️Farm life
▪️Pranks
▪️New adult/coming of age
▪️Halllmark sweet (only kissing)
▪️He falls first

This was pure FUN to listen to! I am so glad I had this in audio as I listened to it while working today and could not stop, it was so good. Kelsey has come home for the summer to finish planning her wedding and nothing is going as planned. Her nemesis is working for her dad at the ranch, Cade. They have had a prank war since elementary school and she does not have the time for it. With wedding planning, dieting, and all the other stuff, Kelsey is pitting against Cade more than she wants and when she finally breaks and pranks him first, all bets are off and the war starts again. You know there has to be something behind all these pranks, right?!?! This one had me laughing through my morning while listening and enjoying my Friday work day. I highly recommend this one!

This was a fun, enemies to lovers, small town romance. I did kind of wish it was a dual POV but the witty banter and the pranks between high school rivals was enjoyable. I didn't love the a-hole fiance or how insta-marriage the ending was. Overall I liked it but didn't love it. Would still recommend for fans of Sarah Adams. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!! I'm very excited that indie author Cindy Steel's books are finally coming out in audio format!!
