DNF’s at 20%. It just wasn’t for me. I’m at a different stage in life than the character and just couldn’t connect with the story.

I liked the Christmassy setting, even though that wasn't very heavily shown.

However, there was no real chemistry between Eloise and Laurence, which didn't truly engage me with the story.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

The story follows Eloise Brandon, who gets a sudden call from her godfather, making her head all the way to the Alps to cater for some high society rich guests. And there may be an ex-husband involved here too!

I have to say I really managed to space out during this book and I was very confused throughout. I think it would have been better if I had read this as an ebook instead. The narration was not very captivating and so I couldn’t really focus on the plot and the characters. I also did not really understand the storyline as much as I thought. The summary itself did not really give much information, and normally rom-coms provide some a little more information.

Overall, I think this was not the book for me.

Not only am I a mood reader, but I also love to read seasonally, so I was excited when I had the chance to read
A WINTER AFFAIR, a wonderful warm, seasonal treat whisking you on a magical adventure to the Swiss Alps.

I loved the snowy and festive setting, but I never really connected well to many other parts of the story, or with the characters involved. I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Jilly Bond.

*many thanks to Saga Egmont Audio for the gifted copy for review

This can easily become your go-to book if you’re looking for a cozy book to red this winter! Set in the Swiss Alps, “A Winter Affair” provides the listeners / readers with an easy-to-follow story starring Eloise, who needs to get out there and get over her recent divorce and her children leaving the next. Loved the characters, interactions, storyline, and especially the ending. I hope you too enjoy!

Special thanks to NetGalley, Saga Egmont Audio, and the editorial team for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC in audiobook format and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

I liked the setting and I did get a good Christmas vibe. However, I didn't feel any real chemistry between the characters. Also, the story was very repetitive and that is a big pet peeve of mine.

A feel-good holiday romance in the Swiss Alps that was great on audio. If you love stories about finding romance after divorce, new friends, lots of laughs and heartwarming stories, this is one Christmas romance you don't want to miss. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy of this book in exchange for my honest review! I liked that it was set in a place I don't read about much in books!

Although this sounds and looks very christmassy - it wasn't too chirstmas heavy in the plot which was enjoyable as a september read.

Plot: Eloise, lives in London. She has recently divorced from husband Harvey, and is facing her first Christmas alone. Her grown up twins are on a gap year and she is dreading facing Christmas alone. After talking with her godfather on the phone she finds out that his son Lawrence needs some help at their skiing chalet that they run in Switzerland. The chef had run off with a rich guest and they have been left to fend for themselves and find someone else. Eloise agrees its better than staying alone over christmas and besides what could go wrong?

I read this as an audio book and it was nice to have on while cleaning or doing other work when I could not just sit and read.

The dog was arguable my favourite character followed by Eloise and it was a beautiful romance story about not only finding love but finding yourself again when you are down.

Sadly my audiofile of this was faulty, so I didn't get to listen to the whole book before it was archived. The bit I did listen too I quite enjoyed. A good narrator, a likebale main character, and a gorgeous setting seem to promise a good book!

I have since tried to buy the book to be able to finish it, but that file had the same problems, so I will give a middle of teh road 3* rating for now.

If I manage to get my hands on a working file I shall update this review!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. First, there were several glitches in the audio offered through NetGalley where the book would stop and start the chapter over again, which happened in several places. Once you get past that, there is no real chemistry between Lawrence and Eloise, and the addition of her ex-husband was not necessary or needed.

Author Minna Howard ⭐⭐⭐
This is my first time hearing about the author and after listening to this book I was excited to see how many more books Minna Howard has. Can't wait to start Mothers and Daughters now I've finished this.

This was more of a 3.5, I enjoyed the story. It was entertaining and lots of drama and it flowed fairly well but I didn’t feel any chemistry between the two leads. It’s like they weren’t even friends and then 2 chapters toward the end of the book they realized they were supposed to fall I love. It didn’t work. Honestly; they could have just left the love part out and it would have been been better.
I really enjoyed the writing, the story was descriptive and easy to follow. I also enjoyed the narrator. She did a great job helping me distinguish who was who as the story continued on.
However I did have some issues with the audio itself at times. Especially in the beginning. The beginning chapters would skip, either forward or backward. It’s like the chapter just ended and then skipped to the next chapter so I would have to go back to the previous chapter and fast forward until I got to the part I left off on.

A holiday romance in the Swiss Alps! A recent divorce and a desperate phone call from her godfather to come immediately to his chalet hotel as they just lost their chef, Eloise heads into drama on slopes, love and humorous turmoil. A special, snowy script. Loved Bert the dog!
