I love the Country Store cozies and have read them all! Pans -n- Pancakes would be such a fun and yummy place to go. I love all the characters in this series and really enjoy the way the author develops the story line. There is also a fun twist at the end. Can't wait for the next one!

Robby rues the day she allowed a cooking show to be hosted in her restaurant when the producer is found dead upstairs in the B&B. The crew are all suspects and the restaurant is closed for a few days, but Robby decides to investigate. She finds connections to most of the crew and unexpectedly to her new husband Abe. That worries her so she doubles down on her investigation. This is such a fun series and every time I read one of the books, I crave a hearty breakfast.

I loved seeing Robbie defend herself. And as long as I'm willing to really put aside my suspension of disbelief (standard practice for any cozy mystery reader), I enjoy this series. Robbie's congenial relationship with Buck/the authorities may be totally ridiculous, but it's a nice change of pace from having the protagonist constantly bickering with the cops over their (the protagonist's) insistence on trying to solve a crime.

This is my first time reading a book by this author. I appreciated the smooth flow of her writing style. I thought the mystery was very good. The sleuth Robbie Jordan worked with the Police and they welcomed her help instead of like in other cozy mysteries where the Detectives warn sleuths to not try to stick their noses into murder cases . The police Lieutenant Buck Bird actually came to Robbie to see if she had turned up any clues in the case. At times I thought the book dragged when it dwelt too much on a work day in Robbie’s restaurant. I did however enjoy the enticing and delicious sounding entrees that Robbie and her two chefs whipped up for breakfast and lunch. I was a bit disappointed when a controversial subject was bought into the story. I felt that the story would have been better without that part added to it. Book included some tempting recipes and ended on a happy note. When Robbie Jordan agrees to let the Hot Off cooking show film their St Patrick’s Day special in her Restaurant after hours, everyone taking part in the chef competition arrives except Tara Moore, the star of the show. As the time for the show to air on tv draws close Robbie and a judge who is the town’s police lieutenant go in search of Tara. As they enter her B&B room they find Tara dead from a knock on the back of her head by a blount hard object. A cleaver with a four leaf clover engraved in the handle is found on the floor close to her body. It seems that someone associated with the show had reason to want her dead. The question is who could it have been and why did they kill her? I would recommend this book to readers of Cozy Mystery and to fans of the Author. This book is part of a series but I read it as a stand alone. The book is scheduled to be released on 1/24/23. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are entirely my own. #FourLeafCleaver#NetGalley

Pan's and Pancakes would definitely get my business! It's always sounded like a fun place. It's run by Robbie and Abe. MS Day always turns out an excellent read with lots of red herrings, great story plots and excellent characters. This one doesn't disappoint! Thanks #neygalley and #Kensington for the EARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

recipes, murder, murder-investigation, restaurant, Indiana, small-business, small-town, law-enforcement, cozy-mystery, amateur-sleuth, witty****

Robbie and Abe own and operate a country store named Pans 'n Pancakes with lodgings upstairs for a few guests. They have been tagged to host a cooking show that will be sold to TV. Instead, the instigator who seems to be universally disliked/hated) is found murdered in her room upstairs. Enter the local law plus the state investigator. The sleuthing is murky and the friend interactions are fun.
Great characters and a cohesive mystery plot are the best assets. Add in the concerns and lingo of the characters which are classic small town everywhere, the problems of the small business owner who is the central character, and a lot of witticisms. Great but quick read!

What happens when a self-important chef diva is the producer of a holiday cook-off show? She (Tara) offends people! If she pushes her staff, former spouse, and associates too far, and betrays most people she has ever known, what's the result? A disastrous St. Patrick's Day show!

When producer/chef Tara Moore is more than late for the cook-off shoot, there are no tears, and there's little surprise, except for Robbie (Roberta) Jordan. She's the owner and chief chef of the country store & restaurant that's being used for the taping. And she's unhappy with the unlucky turn of events.

To resolve this quickly, Robbie helps the local police (friends she has worked with before) to find some key clues and cut through the blarney. In the mean time, she and her staff cook a wide variety of tasty-sounding food to feed their breakfast and lunch customers.

Surprisingly, Tara's production assistant becomes her replacement for the re-shoot of the contest. But the decision is not a popular one, and the killer may have chosen a new target or two. Robbie might be on that list!

There are plenty of events, clues, and distractions in this mystery to keep any sleuth busy!

The plot was not complex, but clues were revealed slowly, so the story had a good pace.

3.7/5 Stars

Oh how I love being back in South Lick!

I look so forward to these books as I really feel like I'm visiting with old friends.
Once again, a great installment of the Country Store Mystery.
I feel that this one was light on the mystery and heavy on the character relationships (and I'm not complaining). I love the relationships of the characters. There is no marital angst or problems with Robbie's stepson. I love that Adele was back in this book, but missed her honey. Honestly, I just love all the characters.

Looking forward to many more books in this series.

This book is a very good addition to the Country Store cozy mystery series. The story draws you in from the beginning. Robbie is hosting a St Patrick’s Day cooking contest at her restaurant when the not well-loved producer is a no-show. All the regular characters are very likable and believable. Although I found it easy to identify the killer early in the book I had to wait until almost the end to have it confirmed? I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

First Leaf Cleaver was a fun book to read. It takes place in the town of South Lick, Indiana. Robbie Jordon is the main character who owns Country Store Restaurant Pans' N Pancakes. Danna Beedle is one of Robbie's co-chef. Turner Rao is Robbie's other assistant. Abe O'Neill is Robbie's husband along with his son Sean. Adele Jordon is her aunt. The rest of the characters add to the story.

It is around St. Patrick's Day and the store will host Holiday Hot-Off contest which will be televised. Tara Moore is head of the contest along with her assistant Jaden Routh. Tara and Jaden are staying in rooms above her store. with a separate entrance. There are eight contestants will cook Irish dishes which will include Hoosier Brewing Company's Irish stout. Nicky Lozane is the representative of the company. Vicentra (Vin) is the camera person who will record the contest. There are three judges Buck Bird (police lieutenant) Corrine Beedle (Mayor of town) and Christina James (local chef of Hoosier Hollow Restaurant).Liam Walsh is one of the contestant. He mentioned that several of his recipes had been taken. Tara Moore had authored a cook book on Irish dishes. Could he be referring to Tara?

The day of the contest Robbie arrives first to her store and sees that no one is there to set-up. Her husband, Abe is one of the contestants. Vin arrive and is surprised to see that Robbie is the only one there. Where were Tara and Jaden? Jaden eventually gets there.. He has overslept. All the contestants arrive and set-up as well as the judges. Still no Tara. Jaden says that he feels something is wrong. Robbie and Buck go and check on Tara and find her dead. She has been hit on the back of her head and a cleaver is along side of the body. Buck takes over the situation and brings in Kyle McKean a policeman who guards the door as well as another detective Oscar Thompson. They speak to the contestants before he sends them home. Robbie who has helped the police in the past decides she will try to find out who and why Tara was killed. She is still puzzled about Tara's missing purse and the cleaver with the shamrock on the handle. Is this significant or was there another weapon. She checks her outside camera out and sees a person in dark clothes come in. He must know about the camera as he blocks it when he goes in and out, She calls Buck and Oscar and tells them what she sees. They come along with Anne Henderson head of detectives for the county. She is also trained as a video forensics, They take her computer to do more tests.

This is when the reader goes on an adventure of following Robbie as she starts her sleuthing asking questions, etc. Liam tells Robbie that he has had other dealings with Tara before and not good ones. He had nothing nice to say about her. Nicky told Robbie he and Tara had a lot riding on this contest. Vin and Jarden tell Robbie that Tara had pulled stunts before. Robbie was surprised when her husband Abe said that he knew Tara when they were both in the Navy together at the same base in Japan. Christine also knew Tara and was not surprised that she was killed. Corrine tells Robbie that she recognizes Jarden as he performs at a club as a woman under the name of Jade. She wants Robbie to go with her to check it out which they do. He is there. He tells them that Tara had been blackmailing him. They watch his act and leave.

I will leave the rest of the story to the reader as there is too much to tell. There is so many suspects that could have killed her. It builds up to an exciting conclusion.

I enjoyed the story and will look forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for this ARC.

Warning - do not read this book, when you are hungry.
Besides a good story around a cooking contest and very nice characters, you will read a lot about delicious food and its preparation. And how to run a restaurant. I loved to read it and - sorry, I have to go and make these pancakes.

Maddie Day's Country Store mystery series is a top 5 series for me and, as usual, I absolutely adored this cozy, the 11th installment in the series.

Combining St Patrick's Day along with death at a cooking competition along with all the charming regulars in this endearing southern Indiana mystery series set at Robbie's Pans N Pancakes makes for a thoroughly enjoyable mystery. I felt like I was getting together with old friends.

Highly recommended!!!

Robbie is hosting a cook off at Pans ‘N Pancakes and and she’s looking forward to the recognition her restaurant will garner. Though she wasn’t planning on it being noted for the murder of the show’s host.

While the murder doesn’t directly impact Robbie, the fact that it happened under her roof, and her curious nature, means she has got some sleuthing to do. Now if only she can figure out whodunit before they silence her for good.

Another great entry in this series. Maddie Day is one of my favorite writers and I follow ALL of her series. Each book reads fine as a standalone and I’ve never been disappointed by a single one of her books. If you haven’t read one of Maddie’s works, you’re missing out!

This one is another case of, "I didn't realize this wasn't the first in a series, but I enjoyed it nonetheless!" I liked getting to know Robbie and all her friends and family. It was a fun mystery and did keep me guessing, everyone had both motives and alibis, so learning the truth was a great ride! I wish there had been more sleuthing--going out and asking more questions--but I'm looking forward to reading more from this series.

I received a free copy of, Four Leaf Cleaver, by Maddie Day, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I keep reading the title as, Four Leaf Clover, instead of Cleaver, very good trickery. I love the irish vibes in this book, Liam wearing Irish spring soap, etc. I love all things Irish and I enjoyed this book. Who killed Nicky, who wanted him dead? A very interesting read, the book kept me guessing until the end. I really enjoyed the recipes in the back of the book.

Robbie and her crew are hosting a cook-off show in her restaurant. A murder of the unpleasant person happens fairly quickly. There are enough twists and red herrings to keep you guessing. The theme is Irish cooking and even Robbie's husband Abe is cooking. We see most of the usual South Lick cast again so that is good. This is a great addition to a reliable series of cozy mysteries.

I'm never disappointed when I read a book in this wonderful series.
Robbie Jordan is hosting a cooking competition in her restaurant, but things turn bad fast when someone is killed.
This is a fun, light hearted cozy mystery with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

Robbie Jordan owner and chef of Pan's n Pancakes' is hosting a tv cooking competition in her store. As the crew shows up the producer/director seems to be rubbing everyone the wrong way. When they are found murdered and Robbie starts asking questions no one seems to be upset or even surprised at this development. With someone so universally hated it is a race to try to narrow down the suspects before someone else gets canceled.

It is always an enjoyable read with this series. With wonderful characters and interesting plots you will only be sorry when it ends. I look forward to the next book.
