I really enjoyed this book. I can’t wait until the next installment to see how everything plays out with these characters. Qwess definitely had the cards stacked against him, but he always found a way to make things happen. This was my first read by this author and even though this book is apart of a series, the author penned this story in a way that I didn’t feel lost and I was able to follow the story. This may have been my 1st read by Shaun Sinclair but it will not be my last!

Beats and Blow by Shaun Sinclair is book four in his Crescent Crew series. Though part of a series, it reads well as a standalone.

Rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A masterpiece: Will definitely read again.

Music mogul, Qwess, is in jail and soon to be on trial for his life. The Crescent Crew is at war. Both have the same cause, but maybe not the same solution.

Shaun Sinclair has penned another urban classic. The formula still works: a balance of ghetto life and affluence. The characterization is still strong. This is urban fiction at its finest: over-the-top gangsters, violence, sex, drugs and more violence. The plot is complex and utterly compelling. It’s so good you end each reading session in disbelief. There are unresolved issues, so another installment should be forthcoming, and I’m ready for it. Beats and Blow is a definite 5 out of 5 star read that I highly recommend to all readers of urban fiction. Be aware there is explicit and violent content.

My thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.
