Senator Sheldon Whitehouse's, The Scheme, is a damning indictment of the right-wing's decades-long effort to capture the Supreme Court. The narrative includes a deep dive into the history of the Court which is insightful. The tome is a good place to start to aid in the understanding of how the country's top legal body finds itself under scrutiny. Whitehouse's book is a well-documented and compelling account of the right-wing's effort to capture the Supreme Court. It is a must-read for anyone who cares about the future of the Supreme Court and the American judiciary.

Whitehouse does a good job of laying out the details of the proposed Scheme in this book, tracing a logical path through the various methods and resources the extreme right in the United States have utilized to stack the Supreme Court with judges willing to support their goals. Though the content could be a bit dense at times for someone fairly unfamiliar with legal jargon, the general argument was easy to follow. Accounts like these are important in understanding how this system has been put in place, so that we begin to understand how to dismantle it and create a more fair and representative Supreme Court (and Government).

This book is perfect for those interested in the American political system. It's very well presented and easy to read so don't feel too intimidated by your perception of the content. I feel like that's such a wonderful thing, so that more people can gain something by reading it.
