Where in the world is Roxy DeVine??

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Join a cast of misfit characters, as they attempt to make all of their wildest dreams come true and meet their idol, Roxy DeVine; all they have to do is win a little contest first 🤪 Theodosia and her gay BFF Sam are absolutely obsessed with Roxy and would do ANYTHING to meet her, and TBH Theo reaaaaally need this win in her life, as she has been suffering with everything in her life lately. But after the season finale of Suffer! the leader actress (Roxy) disappears! Do Theo and Sam have something to do with this disappearance??….

The diversity of the characters in this book was fantastic! We had some LGBTQ+ representation, autism representation, different races/backgrounds and even wild and wacky aunt Dotty. Pris was my favourite character by far; she was funny and a real firecracker and she was definitely vital to this story.
I really enjoyed the narrator!! The story was very enjoyable to read and FUNNY! I love a literal laugh-out-loud book! and I laughed MANY MANY times throughout this book 🤪
I very much enjoyed the strong friendships and relationships in the book. Pris and Theo was my absolute favourite, but we also got to see the friendship between Theo and Sam and also the beautiful loving family relationship between Theo and her aunt Dotty, who she is caring for in addition to her sister.
It always makes my little nerd heard so happy when the chapters have names 🤣 It reminds me of childhood books and it also gives me a little foreshadowing of what’s to come.
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is a little different, and wants to see themselves in a book. Just because you’re the underdog doesn’t mean you can’t succeed!

Thank you to #netgalley for the ARC. Suffer! Is pure camp in literary form. Cute and funny. A little longer than it needed to be. LGBTQ friendly.

Suffer had all the fun of a rom-com book but focused on friendships and family instead of romance. I loved the twists throughout the book and thought that the characters were extremely relatable. Overall, this is a great, quick beach read.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from BooksGoSocial and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Ugh. I wanted so much more from this one. It overplayed tropes and stereotypes. Often it felt forced. It’s a shame.

Suffer is a super popular TV show. When it is announced there will be contest to meet the start, Theo is determined to win, especially for her sister Pris. Her best friend Sam is along to help as well. Soon though the star goes missing, and since she wasn't well liked, anyone could be responsible!

I thought this took a bit too long to get into. Almost a quarter of the way through, Roxy hadn't gone missing yet. It felt less Hollywood peek as described and more family drama with Theo's tumultuous home life.

Theodosia isn’t your typical Hollywood beauty and Sam is there Uber Large Besty in along with her autistic her sister pristine in their aunt Dottie they called their self The suffragettes of Arlita. Their fans of the Dexter type show called suffer in the hero it’s more suffer a woman who brings criminals down with her own deadly justice. When they enter a contest to try to win a chance to watch the finale with their hero Roxy divine Theo thinks they have no chance, but little does she know morale May hates Roxy and wants to send her to the home of the worst most homely people she can find and she deems the suffragettes of Arlita, The winners. Not only does the suffragettes YouTube channel go from 12 views to millions but they even have Roxy Divine tweeting about them. Life couldn’t get better put on the night of the viewing party what can go wrong… Does Theo thing to kick it worse but win the finale is ending, Roxy gets blindsided by Hollywood magic and everything goes from bed to OMG this can’t be happening!!! Oh I absolutely loved this book I laughed out loud I reread paragraph that was so funny I can’t say enough about this book I absolutely loved it! You start rooting for Theo and her sister Prissy, Sam and Aunt Dottie before they even entered the contest these are some lovable characters who I love so much I just can’t say enough about this book if you love to laugh and love a great plot you need to read suffer it is freaking hilarious! “Suffer!” Is a debut novel by A.C. Sloan, though her past experience writing for Hollywood certainly shone through this book. I wasn’t quite sure what this book was about, though the Summary does tell part of the story. For me, there was way too much going on in this book. Not that it was difficult to keep track of, but with side story characters with their own drama, it felt a bit like being in a hurricane watching stories and characters whirl about the main focus. For me, this book was a bit too crazy at times along with being a bit too disjointed (a rival fan base is introduced with behind the scenes scheming, but in my opinion, they could’ve been cut out without much affect to the overall story). What I did like was the written screenplay bits and the inclusion of Pristine (including her coping mechanisms). While this book didn't work for me (and I'd recommend some additional editing for storyline tightening purposes), if the world of super-fans and the craziness that is Hollywood are something you're into -give this book a try.

3.5 stars rounded up

Well this was a delightful surprise. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect going in, but it sounded fun.
I really enjoyed this book a lot. The characters are well developed and the story itself flows quite well. I hope to see more in the future by A.C. Sloan

Wow... this book was so entertaining and I need more! A.C. Sloan is so creative and did such a good job with this plot and the storyline. I loved how the story was told, as everything just unfolded perfectly and made the story an interesting one to read. I loved all of the characters, especially since they all had their own distinct personalities and traits. It's always so fun when authors are able to capture different personalities for different characters so that they can relate to a variety of people, which is exactly what A.C. Sloan did.

I also loved all of the little flashbacks for all the different characters! They meshed together so well and told so many different stories throughout the main one. It was so interesting to learn more about each character's background and why they made certain decisions. Overall, this book was so well written and such a fun read. It's funny and a rollercoaster, to say the least, but it's such a good book. Definitely recommend!

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this free arc in exchange for my honest review.
