I took to Gretta Mulrooney’s Tyrone Swift from book one and have enjoyed every one of them.. wish there was a new one every week to be honest..
Having said that, when the opportunity to read The Lost Brother came along I simply saw the authors name and grabbed the opportunity, unbeknown that it was indeed book ten of the Swift series., giving me a pleasant surprise.
In Tyrone Swift, Mulroney has created an excellent character and because he is a private detective, the stories are devoid of all the usual, often complex, ins and outs of police procedures, allowing the author to paint a more absorbing picture.
Needless to say I enjoyed the book, as I do when reading all the authors other books. So, if you are not familiar with Tyrone Swift, make that a must do.
Recommend.

"This case had the potential to uncover a pit full of snakes."

I've only just discovered Gretta Mulrooney and I am SO happy I have. Her books are such a treat, great characters, funny, lots of place and food descriptions, and compelling mysteries. Her observations of people are spot on. #TheLostBrother is one of her Tyrone Swift series, the latest, actually. Tyrone is asked to help Steve Buckley locate his long-lost brother, whom Steve has spotted in a photo and thought was dead. Steve isn't exactly a good client, he's volatile, childish and unpredictable. Still, Ty presses on and untangles the all the webs surrounding #TheLostBrother. Great read, highly recommend.

P. S. Thanks to #NetGalley for the ARC.

I thought it was an okay book, but I did not really connect to any of the characters at all, so I just felt like I was waiting for the book to be over with.

Former police and now a private investigator Tyrone “Ty” Swift has a new case to investigate. His new client is the very nervous and slightly rude Steve Buckley. Steve lived a very isolated life as a child and it showed through his lack of social graces. He simply didn’t know how to act.

When Steve was four, he was told his two-year-old brother Zac had died. He had lost his father to death just a short time earlier. His poor mother couldn't cope. She became very withdrawn and left Steve to cope pretty much on his own.

Steve is beside himself. He recently saw a photo of a young man who looks remarkably like his brother. Zac was born with a birth defect and this man in the picture has the same defect and a birthmark. Steve is torturing himself over it and begs Ty to help.

Ty warns Steve that the truth might be very painful. Steve wants the truth.

What follows is a difficult path to the truth. The reader meets people that are kind and some that are absolutely horrible.

I’ve read most of Gretta Mulrooney’s novels, and I believe I like this one the best so far. Her writing is clear and she certainly knows how to build tension in a story. I was almost on the edge of my seat in some parts. There are also surprises aplenty. Very well done, Ms. Mulrooney!! Keep it up.

I want to thank NetGalley and Joffe Books for forwarding to me a copy of this remarkable story for me to read, enjoy and review. The opinions expressed here are solely my own.

A camera isn't supposed to lie, but what if a photo is discovered which shows someone alive and well who was thought to have been dead for over twenty years? How would you, as a big brother, go about finding someone you've been mourning almost your whole life? That is the conundrum presented to private investigator, Tyrone Swift, who, after meeting his new client, isn't exactly sure where to start.

Ty isn't at all surprised to discover locating someone from a photo isn't as easy as it sounds. With only the picture and one young man's conviction to go on he begins looking through the passage of time at his client's family hopeful someone will know something. As he tries to placate his increasingly anxious employer the story which begins to unfold becomes more shocking and compulsive as each day passes and Ty knows the fall out could ruin more than just the life of the man who hired him.

In book ten of Gretta Mulrooney's excellent series Ty Swift is in a bit of a lull personally but, without spoilers, it appears that isn't going to last! One of the reasons I like Ty is his uncomplicated way of living and looking at life. He faces things head on and in this case it's probably just as well because the investigation is even more fascinatingly convoluted than ever!

His current client is a changeling, going from sympathetically desperate to annoyingly aggressive and back again in just a couple of lines which works well every time. The rest of the new characters are perfectly drawn for the storyline which gradually unfolds amid their secrets, lies, and revelations in a very pleasing way.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. There was nothing I disliked about this, highly recommended.

What an eclectic set of personalities! I love how neurotic Steve is because it actually adds to the anticipation of finding his brother. The detective work is sound and progresses in such a way to pull you in and carry you along through the story. You become invested in the family drama, and your heart breaks for all of those that tried to do right and improve their circumstances. Life throws you curve balls all the time; poor Corinne was hit more often than not. I was hoping for a sunny outcome, but life isn't like that and this book is fairly realistic. Swift's family and friends add to the story because they round out his character - it makes me want to continue to see what happens with Nora and with the new baby. This was a great story of family lost and found, and the writing was exceptional!

Another fantastic Tyrone Swift story, I just love this series. The characters are so real, I especially love his daughter, she seems to burst from the pages. I also enjoy his difficult relationship with his stepmother, who is cleverly underwritten so as not to be a monster. The plot unfolds beautifully and uncovers many unexpected hidden secrets. Greta Mulrooney is such a talented writer, much better than many overhyped authors in this genre. Very highly recommended. If you have never read any of these books, you are in for a treat.

Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
Great book, I loved it! Greta Mulrooney is such an awesome author.
Detective Tyrone Swift is on the hunt for Steve's brother who supposedly died as a toddler, but a photograph shows him as alive. Steve is a difficult, anxious client, definitely not one of Tyrone's favorites.
It's a great mystery with an excellent ending. I really like Tyrone, he's an excellent detective who's also a good, loving father. But he seems like a lonely man, at times I felt sorry for him. I can't wait to see how things go with his little daughter as well as with Norah, who he's reconnected with. So looking forward to the next in the series can't wait.

I always enjoy the Ty Swift books. A good mixture of devious plots and Ty's personal life and his daughter Branna, now living with her mother and step-father in Guernsey. This is no exception - a very circuitous story about 2 brothers - one living and one dead.

Loved it - read it in one sitting.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher I read a free advance review copy of the book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion.
