The writing in this book is good and clear. The cohesion in the collection was lacking. I DNF'd this book about 3 chapters because I couldn't catch the through line or focus of the book.

I wanted to like this book. There was so much information and I could tell that this topic is one that the author is passionate and familiar with. However, it fell short for me. I don't know if it was the writing style. Or the way the book jumped around. It just didn't hold my attention. And with so many other books out there I had to move on to other books.

This was excellent and also very hard to read. I loved her novel and her continue portrayal, in fiction and non fiction of thoes living in the margins of US society is important and well done
