This book was sweet and heartfelt. My little loved looking at the pictures and spending time with his dad reading such sweet words. The illustrations were very well done and spoke to many different daddy's of different types. This was the perfect book for dads to read to their littles. Will definitely be suggesting this one to friends.

Thank you for a free copy in exchange for my review. This was cute. It could be great for kids who love the series or to read around Father’s Day. The writing rhymes in each page and, while I really like this for the classroom, some of the lines were awkwardly paced, making the rhyming element a little clunky.

The How to Catch a... books always seem to be a little hit or miss. Sometimes the rhymes and cadence are absolutely perfect, and sometimes it leaves me stumbling around like a muppet when I'm reading to my kiddo. This one was one that neither of us truly loved, although we didn't hate it and read it multiple times before kiddo forgot about it.

This story works quite well. The cadence is still a little scratchy, but one of the best. And the “how to catch” part is more prominent. It does not rely on the illustrations (which are great) to move the story along.

This is a fun read that is also perfect for this time of year- Fathers Day! My 4 year old has a few of the books in the “How to Catch” series and he loves the fun, silly nature of them. We read How to Catch a Daddysaurus together and he really enjoyed it. Throughout he would stop and talk about things his own daddy does just like in the book- teaching about moving our bodies and fun outside, helping with school, etc. Very cute, would definitely buy to add to our home library.

I had a great time reading this book. This time, these kids were after another mysterious creature. They tried all kinds of ways to capture them, but none of them seemed to work. As this tale comes to a close, these kids have another day that they will remember for years to come.

I think I am missing something and I understand that there is a Catch Club and that maybe reading the books in series would make it easier to enjoy the story but... but we are talking about a picture book for kids here. Having a clear story without having to read another book should be mandatory, right?

That being said, my rating is mostly for the art, which was absolutely gorgeous and very detailed. It's a shame the story and the rhyme did not live up to the illustrations.

This was a ridiculously cute book! The rhyme scheme was a little off, but nothing the kids noticed. This is a perfect book for Father’s Day!

Cute, but I felt like I was missing something. The general idea was nice - highlighting all the things Dads do to help keep the family and household going - but the rhymes didn't always flow well for reading aloud, and the story being told in the illustrations seemed a bit disjointed and didn't match the text. Plus, the illustrations show a whole host of child characters but only one Daddysaurus (but are we to assume that is Dad to all the kids?) Anyway, I'm sure children will enjoy this book as it is cute, and I liked that they left space at the end for readers to illustrate their own favorite Daddysaurus.

My storytime kids LOVE dinosaurs and "how to catch a..." books so this one will be great when I add it to my storytime rotation!

Cute and sweet and I enjoyed the fact that Walstead has kept up with the rhyming theme. Not sure why this had to be a "Daddysaurus" though? Just doesn't make sense in relation to the other books. I guess just choose a well known fictional character or just call it "How to Catch your Dad"? Though maybe that would be an odd title! I guess maybe Walstead is just running out of character choices at this point to keep the series going.

How to Catch a Daddysaurus is another fun addition to the "How To Catch" series by Alice Walstead. The group of children that are in each book are a multi-cultural group of friends that work together to try to catch a Daddysaurus. In the story, they set traps, share what a daddysaurus does and make a real mess. At the end, they realize that they just have to yell out "We Love You Daddysaurus" and he will appear.

My two youngest grandchildren enjoyed this book. They laughed at the antics of the kids trying to catch the daddysaurus and the six year old talked about the various traps, what they should do and then laughed when she saw what really happened. The illustrations are amazing, with bright colours, lots of activity and detail, showing emotions in the faces of the children. After reading the book, we went back and looked at the possible traps and talked about drawing up plans, measuring, pulleys etc. The little one lost interest (he's only 4) but the older two joined in with the discussion. Of course the older one was quick with his critique of what they did wrong and what he would do instead. My one issue is with the rhyming in the story. There are a few times where reading aloud is awkward as the cadence shifts, but pre-reading will keep you from stumbling as you read it.

My daughter thought it was fun trying to catch a glimpse of the Dino in all the pictures. Overall if your kid likes Dino’s this is a sweet book. Thank you for the ARC Net galley!

This is such a cute book! The How to Catch crew is back, this time trying to find the Daddysaurus. This book highlights the many ways a Daddysaurus is important to his family and also the things he enjoys.

The illustrations are engaging, help to tell the story, and keep younger kids interested. There are so many things to spot in the pictures as well. One of the things that I particularly appreciate about this series is the racial diversity in the crew of kids. I've only read one other book in this series, How to Catch a Dinosaur, and it is unclear to me if the kids are meant to be friends or siblings.

A perfect read aloud for preschool and early elementary, the rhyming gives this book a lyrical feel. My little guy is 4 and I feel that the STEM isn't something that he is consciously noticing, but it is for this reason that I believe this is a book that will grow with him.

The end of the book has a blank frame to draw your own Daddysaurus and a To/From in the front, this book makes a great Father's Day gift.

My daughter absolutely loved this! The pictures were great. The rhyming was great. She adores dinosaurs and her daddy so this was a winner. She is almost 9 years old.

While I love the “How to Catch a” series, this one felt forced. I believe the intention was good (celebrate father figures for all they do), but the story itself fell flat for me. Illustration choice was also surprising: Why are these kids trying to catch the Daddysaurus? Why can’t baby Dinos do the same thing? Would feel like a much better book with just that simple swap.

How to Catch a Daddysaurus is a book about Dads and their relationship with kids.

Several things seemed off with this book. The illustrations of the kids did not look like kids. They looked like mini-adults. Also, there is no flow in the story. The text lists the good qualities of a Dad. I was also confused by the remnants of one type of activity on another page. Some kids are tangled in tape in the background, and then there are kids gardening on the same page. What was the butterfly net doing indoors? In the end, only one sentence tells how to catch a Daddysaurus.

The book can do much better with improved illustrations and the correct sequence of illustrations to tell a story.
