This book has cute and beautiful pictures and just enough text to keep any little reader interested. A fun story about how to catch a dad or a daddysaurus, and what do those dads or daddysauruses do. I feel like this would make a beautiful gift to some very special dads out there.

Thank you to NetGalley, and the Publisher for the eARC! I am familiar with other books in this series being a preschool teacher, and this one is perfect for dinosaur loving kiddos! A cute way on how to catch a "dad" or a daddysaurus!

Thank you NetGalley for this eARC.

I cannot wait to get my hands on the physical copy of this book! This book is perfect for all the dads in your lives to read aloud at night to kiddos. Though the age range is 4-10, I would actually say it would fit 2-7 better. This book has wonderful pictures and rhymes to ensure that your child stays engaged (and laughing).

The Catch Club kids are back but this time they are trying to catch a mystical creature called the Daddysaurus. The Daddysaurus is kind, brave, intelligent, and funny. Most of all the Daddysaurus is loving. Just like with other How to Catch stories the kids set all Daddysaurus's favorite things to trap him with. We love the Catch Club crew! My kids like to see what they come up with to make the traps. The illustrations were great, and we loved the story! This is a great read aloud and easy to follow.

Thanks to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS kids for the ARC. We cannot wait to share it with our Daddysaurus!

We love the how to catch books. We also love dinosaurs. My daughter liked this book. I wish there was more about dinosaurs though.

I love the bright illustrations and characters in this story. The story was fun and kept our interest, I think my only issue is that they praise was for a human dad and all the amazing things they do and nothing really had to do with a dinosaur, so to them call him daddysaurus just feels a bit random.

My 5-year-old is a daddy’s girl who loves dinosaurs. I thought this would be a great book for her. While the book is a cute, thoughtful tribute to dads and all the service and support they offer their children, it has almost nothing to do with dinosaurs. We still enjoyed it, though. Also, the illustrations are bright and engaging. It’s a great read for 4-8 years old.

My son is already a big fan of the how to catch books and this one did not disappoint! We loved the colorful illustrations throughout and I always adore how there is so many different children that every kid will have one they relate to! The children work through their plan with crazy ideas and colorful pictures on each page. The story explains all about the daddysaurous and how they are amazing! My favorite part was “because of him, we know HEROES are real!” We have always enjoyed these books and this one is a perfect addition to any bookshelf!

My son and I really enjoy the Catch series. I saw these available and needed to read them with him ASAP! The Catch a Daddysarurus story is so sweet and full of fun. This is the perfect book to gift dad for a special occasion! A great way to show appreciation for all that dads can do! The artwork is so vivid and eye-catching too!

Many thanks to Sourcebooks for an e-arc to review.

This was such a cute book to join all the other “how to catch a…” books. I don’t usually rate children’s books but my kids love this series, and How to Catch a Daddysauraus was no exception. This book would make a great gift for fathers from their kiddos!

My 7 year old loves this series of stories. This one was not our favorite, but it's definitely cute and worth reading for father's day as it focuses a lot on the things dads do with and for their kids. My son's first comment upon finishing it was that he didn't like it as much as the others because it didn't show any of the traps the kids would normally use to try to catch whatever they are trying to catch. The silly traps are his favorite part.

A wonderful ode to fathers that makes the perfect addition to the “How to Catch” series! A wonderful read for Father’s Day or any time of year.

3.5 stars

A cute book show casing all the things trust dad does for the family in a cute way. From growing a garden for healthy food for the family to doing repairs on the house.

I like how it shines a light on tasks that kids would not necessarily take notice of. It's a great way to teach littles other ways we show we love them. Basically start introducing love languages.

The only thing that didn't really work for me was the rhyming. At times it would be awkward to read. I think this book would have been ok as not a rhyming book.

The illustrations are bright and colorful.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this advance reader copy. My review is voluntarily my own.

As a teacher, I have many of these books on the shelves in my classroom. This one is cute like the others! Great images. Diverse characters within the pictures. This would be great to read to a child around Father’s Day. My one issue is that I wish they focused a little more on hugging/ emotions as to not push any toxic masculinity in the focus on working out and fixing things or stereotypical male things.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

This is a rhyming book, but I wish it wasn't. To make the rhymes work, the sentence structure was awkward and often didn't flow well. At times it felt almost like Yoda speak, but that feeling wasn't consistent either. I just felt so tripped up with this that I couldn't really enjoy the meat of the story.

And about that, the main point of the story is to talk about all the things a daddysaurus does or teaches. The feminist in me has some mixed feelings about that, worrying that it may give the impression that a mommysaurus can't do those things too, but I know this isn't about me. I could see the message being problematic for kids who don't have a father figure in their life though.

The illustrations are where this book really shined for me. They were bright and colorful, depicting all the things this group of kids tried to do to catch their daddysaurus. And the illustrations were detailed with a lot of fun little gems.

I would struggle with reading this book to my kids multiple times because of the syntax issues I have with it, but I'd probably push through because the message is good overall. I give it 3.1 out of 5 stars.

How to Catch a Daddysaurus by: Alice Walstead & Andy Elkerton

“A legend is told of a creature near-perfect, known for a kindness and bravery that’s rare. He’s also loving, fun, patient, and smart — to catch him will take a trap with great care.”

This is the next book in the “How to Catch” series. In this instance, the kids are out to trap the illusive Daddysaurus using all of his favorite activities.

I read this with my almost 3 year old and 2 month old. It was well loved by my older son, especially since we’ve read several books in this series already. The illustrations were great at drawing him in and the rhyming kept him entertained throughout the story. I really appreciated the diversity in characters. Additionally. I love the Easter eggs hidden throughout, for example, the gingerbread man hung up on the wall. The blueprints and trap designs really speak to my engineering soul.

The only complaint I have for this story is that it’s more subtle in its trap design in comparison with some of the previous books. My son and I love going through the traps and silliness the characters get up to in other books in the series.
