I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

When Andi returns to her hometown after her father's death, she is shocked to find her ex Corey is still in town. He's not only in town but he's in business with her now dead father. This second chance romance was so much sweeter than I expected! I appreciated the way the author dealt with the heavy hitting subjects tackled in the story - alcohol addiction and death of a parent and felt that she portrayed them well. I liked the way Andi and Corey gravitated towards each other as if no time had passed between them and loved hearing their flashbacks. I'm excited to read more from this author.

I read Casey’s first book and enjoyed it! So, I figured this one would be another enjoyable read. Overall, it was cute. I enjoy second chance romances, and this one fell right into that trope. Told from one POV, Andi’s, the reader gets a past and present view on her story and what all happened with Corey in the past and present. We also get a glimpse at family life and how that impacts Andi as a whole, especially since her father works with Corey. This story was well written, a great pace, and a cute love story amongst some heavy topics. Thanks for the opportunity to read!

The vibe was just too mature to me... I started reading this one last year but couldn't just get into it and I thought I'll give it another try later on. However, it just can't fit my tea.

I went into this expecting an adorable second chance romance story, but it turned out to be so much more. The entire book smacked me square in the gut. It's about childhood sweethearts Corey and Andi, who split ten years ago and are now reuniting after a tragedy sends Andi back to the town she grew up in, where Corey still lives.

This book is about love, life, family, and such character development that it was extremely moving. It was everything to read about Andi and Corey's emotional journey. This is my first book by this author, but it will not be my last.

The Corey Effect by Casey Dembowski is about Andi Scott. Andi has to return to the town where she lived with her father for a short while. There she finds that her ex-boyfriend, Corey, has run a business with her father. Corey asks her to stay in town for a little bit and she can't say no.

The book is a second chance romance which I don't usually care for but I gave the trope a second chance basically, lol. I did enjoy the book. Corey is a nice character and Andi grew on me. She does not come off the best in the first chapter of the book which does contain spice right off the bat.

Thank you to NetGallet, Red Adept Publishing and the author for the e-ARC of this book. This review is my own opinion.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Andi and Corey. Andy’s parents are divorced and her mother was offered a chance to go to Paris for a year, so Andi went to live with her father. It was her junior year in high school, there she meet Corey. She dated him all year and they fell in love. She moved back in with her mother for senior year and saw Corey when it worked for them. They broke up when they went away for college. Life happens. When her father passed away she went back. She saw Corey. They had some issue but worked through them and declared their love.

Andi Scott left her hometown ten years before and vowed to never go back. Her estranged father's death brings her back to the town. The only bright side to her going back is that her former love Corey got out of the town too. Within a day of her return she finds out Corey still lives there. He also co-owns a business with Andi's dad.
This book was a great love story. I love how Andi went through a lot and still managed to get past it all. I also liked how we learn what happened in her past through flashbacks. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

Read if you like:
- short chapters ❤️❤️
- illustrations
- second chance love stories

When Andi’s dad dies, she is forced to return home for the funeral. While home, she encounters some old friends that she wasn’t seen or heard from in years, including her first love Corey.

I love the chapter illustrations! We definitely don’t see those enough! It is very pleasing to my eyes and even makes me smile a little bit 😊 reminding me of my childhood reads.
This one is a liiiiiiittle spicy 🌶 like right from the very first page spicy 😜
I love the format of part stories and part written letters from Corey…. it allows us to have 2 sides of the story and see 2 characters thoughts instead of just one.
I didn’t like Andi much after immediately finding out she’s sleeping with her married boss, but the story was beautiful and I definitely found myself hoping Andi and Corey would end up together 🤞🏻
This was a very beautiful, enjoyable read that I would recommend to any romance lover!
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Red Adept Publishing for my ARC in exchange for an honest review 💕

I throughly enjoyed this novel. In fact, it’s one of the few lately that has held my attention throughout the entire story. While I could see a few things coming, I never felt like rushing though it. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

I really love the second chance romance storyline. I have to say this one caught be by surprise with how deep the story was. It is a beautiful story about forgiveness, trauma, abuse and second chances. I also enjoyed the duel time-line, it was important to understand the back story.

This book brought out a lot of emotions. I highly recommend! Thank you Netgalley and Red Adept Publishing for this ARC.

The returning to home, estranged childhood soulmates, past flash backs, swoony present moments, accidental innuendo and the hope that Corey and Andi would find their own HEA at the end.

Part every summer after, part heart breaking emotional roller coaster, all parts meant to be romance. I could go on about all the things I loved about this story but I'll leave you with this, just read it!!!

The beginning threw me off a bit, but after the first chapters, I started getting really invested in the story. Andi can be somewhat annoying at times, but we must understand her story in order to understand her. The flashbacks also added a lot to the book and made the read much more exciting. Emily is adorable, Krystal is our best girl and Corey is the perfect match for Andi. A perfect second chance romance.

How do we move on after experiencing trauma? Can we rekindle that flame for an old love after youthful impetuousness ends it. That’s the question Andi wrestles with in Corey Dembowski’s ‘The a Corey Effect’, follow up to her after her utterly delightful debut ‘When We’re Thirty’.

The book jumps back in further in time between teenage Andi going to live with her increasingly belligerent and alcoholic father, and the present day after his death. She meets up with her first love Corey, who has since become a business partner to Andi’s late father which perplexes her given her traumatic experiences living with him. Unfortunately I found the time jumps jarring, just when present day was starting to move forward in action, we’d go back to ‘then’ which p, honestly some chapters would’ve been better off just explained as dialogue in present day than reading through.

There were times I also found the plot a bit skirting to unbelievable, such as Corey’s big secret. I could’ve done without it, especially the circumstances surrounding this (especially the letters which of course she didn’t receive). I just wish these plot points weren’t employed as it was clear Andi’s mother was behind this,

However overall, this is a sweet, second chance romance with a lot of tough topics. I’m really looking forward to Dembowski’s next book which features a side player from When We’re Thirty who also makes an appearance in this book (and I didn’t pick this up, it was the author’s Instagram that clued me in!).

Ten years after she went away and never looked back, Andi is back in town for her estranged father's funeral.

Everything brings back memories she buried deep down, from her boyfriends to friends that she made when she lived there.

But there was a reason she left and why she never forgave her father. Nothing could surprise her more than learning that not only is her high school boyfriend still here, but he owned a business with her father.

Even though he changed, she has a hard time forgiving her father for what he did.

The Corey Effect is a story about forgiving, giving a second chance to love and moving on.

I liked the storyline. What I didn't like is how people treated Andi, like she was wrong for not contacting him and forgiving him. What did like, even more, is Corey. There is just something about him, how he talked to her and how he treated her... The characters didn't have a lot of redeeming qualities and that made it hard to root for them.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an ARC of "The Corey Effect", written by Casey Dembowski. It was released on October 4th, 2022!

Overall, I rated this book 4/5 stars!

This novel tells the story of Corey and Andi. Andi returns to her hometown for her father's funeral only to find that her old crush from 10 years prior (Corey) is still in town,

This story is a second-chance contemporary romance filled with flashbacks of Andi's past with her father (who was an alcoholic) This was a book that was unputdownable and tugged at the heartstrings!
