I did not finish this book. I got through a few chapters but realized it just wasn't for me. Didn't pique my interest and was just meh. I was expecting a fun rom com (due to the cover) but it just wasn't it.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Such a fun book. I loved the NYC setting and the focus on female friendships. I expected a romance when I saw the cover, and in a sense it was, but so much better!

Amy Poeppel writes the most unique and interesting characters! I definitely enjoyed everything about this book. The writing was so engaging and the story is heart warming, funny, and endearing. I loved the core family and all the other characters that became part of the family. Amy captures over the top moments with everyday moments and it is a perfect blend. This is a great feel good book that I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how there were so many different characters and story lines that ended up being connected. I loved the story of baby Hank and I loved all the other kids. I thought the ending was so good. I liked the unique house setting and just found this story to have so many elements that worked so well together.

Lauren, Olivia and Melinda all bring different life experience and emotions to their common bonded experience. I binged this unputdownable, laugh out loud NYC tale. The brownstone, the bar, the storyline. This was not to be missed!

How appropriate that I read THE SWEET SPOT so close to Valentine's Day. I absolutely adored it! A Greenwich Village brownstone filled beyond capacity with complicated characters that do not cease to entertain us every single day. This edgy romantic comedy vibrates with authenticity, love, hate and some of the best writing in the business! Amy Poeppel is at the top of her book game.

This was an absolute delight. I loved the way the characters fell into each others’ lives and ended up working together. I loved all the details of Lauren’s quirky family, it was easy to picture their chaotic but cozy brownstone. The New York setting was so fun. I found myself laughing out loud several times and really enjoyed the whole story.

Thank you so much to @netgalley @atriabooks and @amypoeppel for this eBook ARC! It was #gifted in exchange for an honest review.

The sweet spot is a cute, cheeky novel, that I found myself completely immersed in. By the end of the story, I was a part of the family — a part of the web of connections, friendships, and strange, overlapping storylines. While there was a bit of suspension of disbelief involved, due to the nature of the plot and certain things that happened that would most likely never happened in real life, I still found it charming, hilarious, and utterly enjoyable.

The characters are quirky, but there’s also a lot of self-discovery for a lot of them throughout the story — and I really enjoyed the sense of coming together as one offbeat family in the end.

4.5 stars With The Sweet Spot, Amy Poeppel, one of my favorite authors, returns with another stellar tale. Three women come together to care for a baby that is not theirs and plenty of comic hijinks ensue. Lauren and her family move into a beautiful brownstone with a classic dive in the basement called The Sweet Spot. But several days after they move in, Lauren accidentally sets in motion the divorce of a couple she doesn't even know. Melinda’s husband, who never wanted a child, has now jettisoned her for Felicity, and he and Felicity are expecting a baby causing Melinda to publicly express her anger in a manner that is broadcast all over social media. In response to Melinda's issue, Olivia creates her own and is subsequently fired. In the midst of all of this drama, the new lovebirds flee the city and their new baby leaving the three women with their new baby. With her signature humor and engaging characters, Poeppel has created a delightful tale of modern life and the importance of human connection.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC! “ The Sweet Spot” was everything I needed during a stressful week. The story centers around an eccentric, busy family who has recently moved into a family brownstone and how their life changes organically. I will say I was stunned to see how all of these characters merged together to become beautiful chaos. This book made me feel so happy, even in sad moments, because of how everyone rallies around each other in a time of need. I wish more of life was like an Amy Poeppel novel.

Lovable entangled characters who I want to be friends with. An outrageous plot line that somehow works? Picturing ever inch of that Waverly brownstone with every vivid description…when can I move in?
That endearing wrapped-up-in-a-blanket-sipping-hot-cocoa-while-watching-the-first-snowfall feeling that just makes you sigh lovingly when the book is over. I love me some Poeppel! ♥️ Thank you netgalley for the opportunity!

Thank you to Emily Bestler Books, Atria Books, Simon and Schuster, and NetGalley for an Advanced Reader Copy of The Sweet Spot by Amy Poeppel.

This was my first Amy Poeppel book, and it won't be my last. This story had me feeling all the feels and literally laughing out loud!! Poeppel's character development and multiple story lines that all fit together is amazing and adds to hilarious situations. The Sweet Spot centers around Lauren Aston, her mother Evelyn, their neighborhood bartender's daughter Olivia, their nemesis Melinda, and sweet baby "Hank." These women rally around a couple of common villains ("Hank's" wayward parents) to redefine the meaning of friendship and family. Through their mishaps and adventures, these four unlikely friends form the kind of bonds that cannot be broken.

I LOVED this book because Poeppel has created endearing characters who work through serious everyday life problems to find a joy that can sometimes be elusive. This book is a 5-star delight!!

This was such an adorable read with a quirky cast of characters who were charmingly flawed and delightful.

The Sweet Spot really does “hit the spot” with a motley crew of characters and events that will keep you laughing out loud! The book opens with a dilapidated NYC brownstone and its family (Lauren, Leo, and their kids) – all of whom are equally in need of a makeover. They have moved in while their relative is away in Berlin. Housed below the brownstone is The Sweet Spot, a bar run by Dan. A high-end designer and television star, Felicity, comes to commission Lauren to make some ceramic pieces for her fancy home goods shops in New York and other cities. This encounter begins the masterful interweaving and connections between characters – from viral rant videos to the “kidnapping” of a baby! By the end, you will still be smiling as the characters surround the Thanksgiving table and realize what it means to love, take care of others, and give LOTS of second chances.

The Sweet Spot is a novel set in New York where a group of women are forced to come together to care for a baby. This novel is one that will make your heart full. The unlikely friendships and chaotic characters will have you laughing out loud! I loved the themes of friendship, love, marriage, family, and more. The cast of characters can be confusing to get straight in the beginning but once you get to know them, you won't be able to put the book down!

Uuff Dah! I found this one a bit tricky with the multiple POV's and the multitude of characters. I found the story line all a bit chaotic and hard to really connect with the characters. I did enjoy how all the characters intertwined and came together at the end, but wasn't really invested in any of them, honestly. They were all pretty quirky which I found funny at times and confusing at other times. Also, some of the "revenge" schemes were over the top and kinda mean which made it hard to root for them.

I did love that the story took place in NYC at a brownstone in Greenwich Village. I love NY. It's always fun to read about a city/location you love.

Overall, it wasn't terrible but just kinda meh for me!
