Emily and her daughter Sofia live a pretty private life. She's got a small cast of characters around her including her boss at the perfume shop, Mr. Woods, her somewhat troubled friend Nancy, and new potential suitor Oliver. Enter a few more mystery folk that may be watching her and know about her past, and there's a fast-paced twisty mystery in the making. We know that Emily is keeping a secret of some sort, but we don't know exactly what. As the truth of Emily's past unravels, there are twists galore right up until the last page.

I personally was not a fan of these twists. It sort of felt too much, like another crazy twist was just added for shock value, but didn't really add anything to the story. I appreciated the red herrings in the book, and I really wasn't sure of the conclusion right up until the end and I did enjoy the final twist. There were just some things around the 3/4 mark I felt was too much.
This was my first read by this author and I've seen rave reviews for many of her books, and would like to give her another try.

Sue Watson’s books never let me down. I don’t even need to see a synopsis from the book to know I’m going to read it if Sue wrote it. I went into The Nursery not knowing much about the plot and was instantly glued to the pages. You can easily place yourself in Emily’s shoes as her daughter is messaging a stranger over social media, panic and worry immediately set in as Emily wonders who this person is and what they want with her daughter. There are buried secrets that Sofia can never learn, what if one of them is coming to the surface now?

She opens the door expecting to hear the soft coo of her daughter Sofia stretching herself awake. But the room is silent. The cot is empty. Her little girl has vanished…

This was a quick read, mainly because I couldn’t stop reading until I had answers! It comes out on October 20.

Sue Watson is one of my favourite authors which meant that I was super excited to read this new book. It certainly didn’t disappoint!
The writing drew me in quickly and the characters were all very intriguing. I was sure I had worked it out, but how wrong I was. The ending on this book, like all her other ones, is amazing.
I’d definitely recommend it.

HOLY FLUFFER CANOODLES! As always, Watson is a pure magician at her craft of writing real intense, real mind-twisting thrillers & this is by far my favourite! She always knows how to take a seemingly common plot and the spins her best surprising work with it to cause chills & thrills galore! How she comes up with all these wicked and fascinating twists are incredible and I'm in awe. This book is no exception & will happily keep you on the edge of your bed and fill a craving you didn't know you had after reading this. She makes it all work seamlessly as she writes the plot and sets you on an adventure of pure suspense; gasps, eye popping moments & all! This one absolutely blew me away like a fall leaf in the cool wind. I was so entrapped in the story I didn't see the ending coming not once, but twice! A never-ending continuous ride of secrets and revelations that will leave your heart thumping like a drum!

The Nursery by Sue Watson made me feel like I was right there in the story as Watson's writing is very descriptive. When she would walk home late at night I was there feeling the breeze as she did. Every time she opened the door and was hit with the feel of the ocean mist across the street I felt it!

In particular I liked the premise of the thriller. As a mom of a teen who was adopted I enjoy reading books with adoption themes. Watson's main character is confronted with many questions from her teen daughter that has just discovered the secret of who she is from a mysterious text message. The mom is terrified and mystery ensues.

I wanted the pages to be a bit more exciting than they were. The characters left me wanting to care more about them but I just didn't. I do have to say the end of the book is when things really start to happen and then everything is tied up fairly quickly. I was surprised with the outcome but not shocked.

I wanted to like this one but felt that the overall mystery was hard to follow and didn't keep me engaged. I think that people will enjoy this one though.

Wow, do I love this author. I have read several books and I just keep coming back. I love her writing style so much. I love how there's always twists and turns when you least expect them.

The nursery is about Emily and her daughter Sofia who lead a normal life. But suddenly Emily feels like someone is watching her house and her fear intensifies when someone breaks into their house and leaves a note. Emily would do anything to keep Sofia safe, but now she’s afraid her past will come back to haunt her.

This was a typical thriller where you knew something bad would happen, but not exactly what. The reader gets glimpses of Emily’s past and realize something happened 10 years ago. It doesn’t take long before we learn some things; Emily had to escape from her home because her husband wanted to destroy their family.

I mostly liked the thriller, but was somewhat annoyed by: ‘if I only knew what would happen next’ after a chapter where Emily thinks that things might get better. I didn’t warm to her motherly concern either. I got that she was paranoid and afraid of anyone taking her daughter away from her, but when she talks about Sofia’s friend and how she tried to convince her that her friend wasn’t right for her, I felt irritated. I also didn’t like the part where her best friend lived with them. Emily just seemed too docile, and I wish she just would have said what she thought.

The suspense wasn’t there all the time either. I would have loved if we had two POVS, that would have made the story more interesting.

The last chapters were interesting, but I didn’t quite buy it. It was too elaborate and I couldn’t see it happening in real life. The last twist was good though, but there was simply to many secrets and different motives.

Overall I would give this novel an average rating. It didn’t stand out and I was not overly impressed, but it was entertaining enough so not a waste of time.

I absolutely love this book! the plot thickens the more you read with a few twists and turns along the way. I felt like I was fully immersed within the story and it was a book that I finished within a night!

'The Nursery' is a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing right until the very end. Every page seems to give vital clues, yet each clue only serves to further mask the truth.

Emily runs away with her daughter to put her past behind; hoping to erase the past and naively simply start again. But 12 years on, it's clear that she hasn't really escaped, 'The past can't be erased, because it lives inside you, and however hard you try, you will never escape.' And this time, it seems like it's not only Emily who's the target but also her daughter, Sophia, 'Your mother isn't who you think she is.' As you read the book, you learn to trust no one.

Sue Watson does a great job of creating suspense from the very beginning; using a prologue to immediately create a sense of intrigue. The pace throughout the book keeps you wondering what will come next and there are certainly enough twists to keep you guessing, while also remaining believable.

This book had to be the biggest cat fish ever . Let me premise my review by saying I adore Sue Watson and I'm so incredibly sorry for whats to follow .

Spoiler : The cover is a lie, where the hell was the nursery ?

This book had superbly positive reviews, and I read with such enthusiasm that something- Anything would happen at any moment now and Id be so glad to have read the book . But sadly. It didn't draw me in . In fact its incredibly slow and I had to double check I was in fact reading the right book . .

This book had all the edge of your seat feels. Since we open the book figuring out Emily has done something very very wrong ... and you spend the rest of the book wondering exactly what it is she actually did. .
The entirety of the book is spent going over the ways Emily "over protects " her daughter Sophia .. however . Being a mom. Most of it seemed like common sense, stranger danger lessons . .
Anyway, Emily will stop at nothing to protect said daughter, except when a handsome, rich man comes around . Then shes goo, she tells him all her secrets ... only to change her mind constantly and after the tell all she regrets it and wonders if hes actually trustworthy.

None of the characters are likable .
Emily is confusing . Sophia is a brat . Nancy is toxic .
I CANT PRONOUNCE 'CERYS' ...

I feel like the best part of the story was probably a twist at the end I read about . However, I came to a rolling stop at about 80% and decided I couldn't continue . It was to late for me,

The storyline kept me second guessing what was going to happen throughout.
There were a good mix of characters to keep you on your toes, with twists and turns along the way. This continues right up until the last page, and I liked the different mix of personalities which made me wonder who was to be trusted?
This is the second book I have read from this author, and it made me want to read more.

Another cracking read from this author. The action starts straight away and we're left wondering about quite a few characters - should she trust them? This did not go in the way I thought it might and the ending was a belter!

The Nursery is an unputdownable, gripping psychological thriller that had me hooked from the start. Tense and with a fast paced plot that will keep you guessing, has some great twists and turns. Sue Watson is a great author and I have always really enjoyed her books. I really liked this one too but I must say not a favorite of mine. There are lots of twists and turns but it was a little slow getting started for me. A Mom on the run with her child and lots to worry about and different signs that someone is watching. What is really going on in this life of mother and daughter. You will have to read to find out.

There's something about the way the author writes that makes the words flow easily, and the pages turn themselves!

A pitch perfect thriller! . . . This author is an absolute master of psychological suspense!

Yet again this author does not disappoint. This dark thriller follows a mother on the run with her baby and hiding out from her husband. We then move on 12 years to see how they have settled into their new lives just the two of them but someone is watching them and someone knows her secrets and things are about to start unraveling.

This is another great read from Sue Watson.
Emily and her teenage daughter, Sofia, live in Sidmouth in Devon and right from the beginning, you know they're hiding from something or someone. Well, Emily is but Sofia is unaware of this. We learn bits and pie es about their past life throughout the story, which builds up to the reason they're there and why Emily feels the need to stay.
When Sofia has a new online friend, Emily knows that her secret is about to resurrect itself.
I felt really tense all the way through and was not prepared for all of the twists and turns that just kept on coming! 5 stars from me.
