Today I am delighted to be taking part on the blog tour for The Nursery by
There are so many great authors around us, Sue Watson being one of them.
A gorgeous cover, her latest book The Nursery was a very enjoyable read for me and one I found myself turning the pages quickly to.
We meet Emily in this story along with her daughter Sophia.
Emily you get to know quite quickly is hiding a multitude of things from her young daughter.
She's cautious, suspicious and very nervous as she goes about her everyday life. Emily feels she is being watched and while she does feel she knows who it is, she can't help wondering why now.
Social media plays a huge part in this story and got me thinking. How much of our lives people see, how much information young children give out to strangers. It frightens me a little.
But Emily must be honest about her past with her daughter and by not doing so she is putting her at risk.
I really enjoyed this story. Lots of red herrings along the way for you to keep you guessing.
But none so that it would give the story away...
I still never quessed a thing..
Well worth your time.

I’m a huge fan of Sue Watson so when she has a new read I’m on it 😜. Another fast paced domestic thriller that was both gripping and addictive and had me hooked from the blurb. Really well developed characters but who can you really take at face value. Love when you don’t know who to trust. The suspense builds so well that you just have to keep turning those pages. Another great read…

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read #TheNursery

A gripping thriller that I couldn’t put down! While I guessed some of the twists, the final twist I didn’t see coming!

The Nursery by Sue Watson! I received this book for NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Wow. The nursery is a fast paced psychological drama about a woman named Emily who is living a normal life with her daughter Sophia in a small town. Suddenly her life is turned upside down when she sees someone creeping around at night and mysterious notes appear out of the blue. This book at many twists and turns and when I thought I had it all figured out BOOM another bomb shell drops and another one! Whew weeee, twists and turns and more twists!!!!
Great book, interesting story that keeps you yearning for more.
Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this one early. I was not disappointed.
I am definitely going to be on the look out for more Sue Watson novels.

The cover captured my attention for sure. Emily is a single mom to her teenaged daughter Sofia. Emily fled from her husband over 10 years ago. I felt the undertone of something sinister surrounding the event from 10 years ago, but don’t know what just yet. Sofia is a typical somewhat bratty teenager (I know because I have one) who spends time connected to her phone. She has been messaging someone she met online. Sofia receives an anonymous message saying “your mother is a liar. She is not who she says she is.” Emily’s heart drops out of her chest. Is it her ex tracking them down? Is it someone who want to hurt them? Or, is Emily’s past catching up to her. This was a slow burn for me and it took me a while to get into it, but overall was a good story.

Emily has been raising her daughter Sofia alone for years and two were doing just fine. However, as the start book begins, readers learn that something happened to little Sofia when she was just three years old. In fact, Emily has a secret.

As the bulk of the story takes place 12 years later, with Sofia now 15 years old, everything starts to fall apart. Not only is the past pushing its way into the present, Emily and Sofia’s relationship begins to crumble. Also, there is a break in at their home. With a note left after the break in, Emily‘s past and her secret are soon to be revealed.

The Nursery starts off with a bang and stays tense throughout. There is always the question as to whom can be trusted in this book, especially when Emily tries to keep things on an even keel with Sofia despite the way things are changing. Then there is another character that enters the scene and we can begin to see why and how things are going to come to a head.

While Emily struggles to unravel who it might be that is trying to reveal her secret, Sofia begins to engage in risky behavior. This plays into the many twists and turns that this story takes on. This book brings new meaning to intense domestic thrillers. Going into the story, we know things are not right in Emily’s small family. As things fall apart I was fully drawn in as I kept wondering how things could possibly come together again. Sue Watson has written another winner as I dare any reader to put this book down after starting it.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

This is my first book by this author. I was drawn to this book by the cover photo and title of the book. The Nursery was full of twists and turns and I really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it to everyone! I will definitely be reading more books by Sue Watson

Sue Watson does a great job of creating suspense from the very beginning; using a prologue to immediately create a sense of intrigue. The pace throughout the book kept me wondering what would come next, there were certainly enough twists and turns to keep me guessing.

Thank you #NetGalley and #TheNursey for an e-arc exchange for my honest review. The Nursery goes on sale Oct. 20, 2022.

I rated this 5 Stars.

The Nursery had me gripped from the description alone and the book did not disappoint. There was tension and suspense from the beginning and plenty of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages all the way to the shocking ending.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

I am a great fan of Sue Watson, and so was anxiously looking forward to her next book. However, The Nursery does not hold the same kind of thrall that Watson's other books did. The suspense dragged till almost the very end and was very much repetitive in nature that after a while it became annoying. Usually when reading a Sue Watson book, I am subjected to twists scattered throughout the book that keep me engrossed. However, this time, I couldn't wait to be done with the story.

I loved the last book by this author but this one failed to grab me as much. It was a quick easy read but not as thrilling as I'd anticipated. I think I felt disappointed with the pitch on the front cover .... It didn't match the story of the book. There was a twist but I felt quite disconnected to the story by then.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Nursery' by Sue Watson.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Sue Watson, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 20th October 2022.

This is the fourth book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'First Date', 'The New Wife' and 'The Forever Home' which I highly recommend.

I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'Perfect for fans of Gone Girl, The Wife Between Us and The Woman in the Window.' I am a huge fan of 'Gone Girl' and 'The Wife Between Us' so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Sue and if this is half as good as 'First Date' or 'The Forever Home' it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue and 38 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is set in Sidmouth, Devon, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 , UK 🇬🇧. I always seem to get on with books that are set in the UK better as I am from Wales and have sometimes visited places mentioned in the book. I have in fact visited and been on holidays to England several times including in Devon so hopefully it will make it easier to picture the settings.

This book is written in first person perspective and the main protagonist is Emily. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them.

OMG!!! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! WHAT HAVE I JUST READ!?!?!? Sue Watson you are an absolute writing legend!!!

This book is fantastically written with vivid descriptions that absolutely grip the readers attention and puts them right in the middle of it all making your heart pound and you constantly second guessing.

Another huge success by Sue!!! This book has got to be the most heart racing books I've read in a long time, if not ever!!! It had me hook, line and sinker from the first page and I could not put it down!!! Every time I said one more chapter it ended on a cliffhanger and I just had to know what was going on!!! If you are going to read this then clear your day because it is truly unputdownable. I started this yesterday afternoon and finished it at approx 2am, read it in one sitting and although I'm knackered today it was 1000000% worth it!!! I loved that you got to meet so many different characters and that there was such a a mix of personalities and so many suspects!!! It keeps you constantly guessing who did what!! It really does make you think how life can change so quickly and different decisions can change a life. It also makes you think how looks can be deceiving. It is filled with friendship, romance, lies, family, love, secrets, twists, turns and everything you could want from a psychological thriller along with some MASSIVE BOMBSHELLS which will leave you absolutely shocked!!! I for one was NOT expecting that at all!!! The fact that there wasn't just one bombshell that shocked me, towards the end it was like a war one of them and I was absolutely blown away. My jaw literally hit the floor!!! I don't think I have ever been as gobsmacked as I have after reading this absolutely gripping page turner! This book is rammed with suspense and tension and will keep you biting your nails, on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding while your flipping the pages because you just cant stop. Sue when are you getting this made into a movie so I can be the first in line for it!!!

As previously mentioned there is such a large mix of characters which makes it a realistic read. All the characters were strong and realistic as well as hiding their own secrets. I really liked Emily from the start and my heart completely went out to her. It can't be easy raising a teenager but it goes from bad to worse as you fly through the pages. I also really liked Sofia although sometimes her attitude annoyed me. Nancy really annoyed me as I thought she was most definitely taking the mick out of Emily's good nature. I absolutely adored Mr Woods who was such a sweet father figure to Emily and was constantly looking out for her. I won't go into any more information about any of these characters or other ones as I really don't want to give anything away to future readers.

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and first two chapters of Sue's 'The Sister-In-Law'. I haven't read this yet but after reading these chapters I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy!!

If you read one book on your life, make sure it is this!!!! I would love to see this turned into a movie and Sue I really hope you are working on your next psychological thriller at this moment because this book will go far!!! A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on what promises to be a MASSIVE success!!!

Overall an absolutely heart racing, nail biting, unputdownable psychological thriller with a bomb shell you will not see coming!!!

Genres covered in this novel include Thriller, Mystery, Suspense, Psychological Thriller, Noir Fiction, Psychological Fiction, Crime Fiction and Domestic Fiction amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of 'Gone Girl', 'The Wife Between Us', 'The Woman in the Window' and anyone who loves a book filled with suspense and surprises!!

359 pages.

This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle and £8.99 in paperback via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

Sue Watson's latest domestic thriller is is well written and compelling with nuanced characters and lots of twists. Emily and her 15-year-old daughter, Sofia, arrived in a small south England coastal town 12 years ago with almost nothing, escaping from a past that Emily has hidden from Sofia and everyone they knows, but now it seems that past has caught up to them, and Emily will do whatever it takes to keep her secrets from being discovered and her daughter safe. As Watson deftly unveils pieces of the mystery, you realize there is even more going on than you imagined, and the ending was truly unexpected.

This was a weird one, sort of mystery and a thriller with some psychological stuff thrown in. I didn’t really like Emily. In fact, I didn’t really like any of the characters, apart from Mrs Peabody, who appears for about a nanosecond at one point.

Emily ran away to Sidmouth in Devon twelve years ago, and she’s been hiding ever since, but what did she run from and why?

It takes a talented author to write a story where none of the characters are particularly likeable, but this is what Sue Watson has done, and she’s done it brilliantly. There are some dark moments throughout the book and a lot of things happen that I honestly just didn’t see coming and one particular WTF moment towards the end!

I’d urge you to check The Nursery out if strange psychological novels are your thing. Definitely, one I’d recommend if you don’t know what to read next.

I am lucky enough to be a part of Books on Tour for this book, so thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of The Nursery by Sue Watson.

3.5 stars. I have loved a few of this authors other books so was excited to read this one. Unfortunately it fell a bit short from me. The cover, name and blurb did not match up to the book at all and I found it misleading thinking I was reading the wrong book. It did however pick up about a third of the way through and I enjoyed the ending.

Family drama that centers on a single mother who suspects she is being watched and is dark and twisted. Both the mother and the daughter are secretive. Sue Watson never fails to impress.

"The Nursery" is not what you would expect. I anticipated the storyline being about a newborn or infant child but instead, it starts off with a mom and a teenage daughter. The fist half of the book introduces you to the current lives of the two, and the close friends involved with them. You will be told some backstory, but almost every chapter will leave you guessing what could possibly happen next. Although it seems as though the storyline and character development seems drawn out, it holds your attention and by the time you are into the last quarter of the book, it becomes suspenseful and twisted in ways you would never expect! Once you finally start realizing the significance of the "nursery", the story becomes heartbreaking but empathetic at the same time. I think the author's way of writing the story was extremely creative, and upon reading her personal experience on why she wrote it, it was definitely an enjoyable read.

Just when you think she can't top her last book, Watson comes back with The Nursery.

I didn't actually start reading it till this morning and I've flown through it.

Characters are credible, unbalanced and most definitely not what they seem. And just who is Pink Girl?

The Nursery is an unputdownable fast paced thriller, it's suspenseful, twisty and the ending was definitely a shock and a half!

Highly engaging and definitely an author to recommend.

Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

Talk about a shocker!

The Nursery is a captivating and shocking tale which kept me on my toes and doing my own detective work to try and figure out what would happen next. The book is about a single mother raising her daughter and becomes much, much more. Everything is not as it seems, and Sue Watson was able to pull the wool over this readers eyes.

Emily and her fifteen-year-old daughter, Sophia are living a normal life - if normal is keeping a low profile and hoping that no one finds out where you live. Emily is working in a perfume store and Sophia is attending school. One evening Emily notices someone across the street staring right at their home. This causes her alarm but not as much alarm as when someone enters house in the early hours and leave a note and "gift" behind. Naturally Emily is alarmed and is hypervigilant but doesn't want the police involved.

Making matters even more tense at home, Sophia has been talking to someone online who has been telling her not to trust her mother and other things about her mother's life. Tension mounts as Sophia cannot be found one day, and Sophia once home, seems to change overnight from happy to angry.

This book was full of twists, turns and revelations. Whew! Just when I thought I had things figured out, Watson threw in another twist. I had a hard time putting this page turner down. Just when I thought Watson was done shocking me, she managed another mind-blowing reveal at the end. Nicely played.

Gripping, shocking and full of twists!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

First, I want to thank Sue Watson, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

YES!! The incredibly talented and gifted Sue Watson is back with another addictive read with The Nursery! This incredibly fast paced read will have your eyes glued to your kindle from start to finish in one sitting! It is a book you will want to add to your tbr list.

Sue instantaneously captures your interest with her frigid intense prologue. It was the perfect hook to the book!

From the prologue Sue jumps ahead to 12 year to modern day in Autumn where we meet Sofia and her Mom. I adored the interaction between the two that sometimes I found quite comical.

Sue had me on the edge of my seat nibbling on my nails with the intense shock filled scenes she wrote! Another story where a mother would go to great lengths to protect her child.

How can any man say that they don’t love their own child?! That is just so wrong on so many levels!!! After reading that I didn’t blame her for doing what she did and the reasoning behind it.

As much as I love social media, sometimes it isn’t used for the right reasons. There was a storyline within this book that somewhat creeped me out. I was not the only one that felt this way either!
