This was a cute, funny, romance holiday read! I loved the characters and Christmas vibes. Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC

I will admit that at first, this book was very slow going for me, and it took me a while to get into it. However, I really ended up enjoying it and rooting for the two main characters to fall for each other. This was my first book by this author, and I think I would definitely consider reading more from her in the future. The scenes at her work were a little boring, but other than that it was an entertaining (and at times, suspenseful) read. I kind of wish there was more spice/confrontation in the book, however, I still enjoyed the story regardless. Overall, it was a cute Christmas read and I am grateful to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Sweet festive read perfect for the festive season. It was a little slow to start but picked up and tied up everything nicely

This was a perfect, light hearted, festive read I needed to pull me out of my post Christmas blues (I always feel sad when it’s over!!)

It’s the run up to Christmas and Rowan, an estate agent and mother to teenager Clara, has one wish for Santa - she wants a boyfriend! Her and her ex fiancé Paul split up years and years ago, but have remained in each other’s lives as they co-parent Clara. They have probably been a lot more intimate with each other in this time than Rowan would like to admit. But things have changed now. Paul has a new partner and it’s looking serious, Clara is going through her teenage rebellion years, and Rowan is starting to feel lonely.

Her best friends, the Girlfriend Club, notice how Rowan is feeling and they organise a personalised Christmas Advent Calendar to try and cheer her up. Knowing that Rowan would just open everything all in one go, they arrange for each day to be delivered on the day. Enter delivery driver Alex - as he starts seeing Rowan on a daily basis, and they become a little bit more than just delivery driver and customer, will Santa be able to grant Rowan’s Christmas wish?

A very relatable read. Rowan was a great, down to earth main character and I loved how she was able to find her sense of adventure again, and how the advent calendar really helped her to feel more like herself. I loved seeing the realities of parenting a teenager daughter. Lots of comedic moments but also a lot of touching moments too. I loved the build up of Rowan and Alex getting to know each other and slowly falling for each other as Christmas drew closer. I loved how the author wrote Alex’s chapters so there was that air of mystery and secretiveness that made me a little bit worried!!

I really enjoyed this book and I read it in just two sittings - it was so easy to just keep reading and reading. Fun, festive and feisty!

Just finished this for Christmas and I really liked it. As the story centred around the coveted Liberties advent calendar, the opening of the doors (or gifts) provided such a festive element.

I enjoyed Rowan as a character and routed for her happy ever after with the swoony Alex. I only wish they’d got together faster.

An enjoyable read for December, I just would have liked to see some of the plots develop more. 3.5 rounded to 4

I found this one difficult to get into at first, it was rather slow, however with a bit of perseverance, this was a lovely story filled with Christmas and strong friendships.

Okay, I guess I was expecting like a teenager asking for a boyfriend or a woman in her early 20s asking for boyfriend because she lonely, but this wasn't that.

This was a woman in her late 30s (don't remember) who is having a really hard time. It being between the job she hate, her teenager acting out and a baby daddy who acts like an adult child (and is now getting married to his younger girlfriend). Her friends decided to cheer her up during the holidays with a very creative advent calendar that will be deliver by mail every single day. Of course the mail delivery guy is attractive and so this story begins.

I loved it, actually so much. I loved that these women bond was so strong that they made this advent calendar for her. How they pushed her lovingly to put herself out there. I loved the romance, even if it wasn't the main focus. I loved all the little bits of this book and it was perfect just around Christmas time.

Rowan is a single mother, raising her teenage daughter and just trying to get by. She’s struggling in her job, her ex is moving on and getting married, she has no prospects and no Christmas spirit. Her friends buy her a Christmas gift, an advent calendar. One gift a day for the month to get her into the spirit. Unsure if it’s the gifts, or the cute delivery man, but things seem to start looking up.

The story was fine, slow but full of strong female friendships and love for one another. More of a friendship and life book, with a background of romance. I found myself slightly bored as the story seems to be quite long. Rowan wasn’t my favourite character, making it harder to enjoy as well. This wasn’t the usual laugh out loud fun story I come to expect from Ranald.

Overall it was okay. Not good but not bad.

Rowan has been giving her all to a thankless job where her misogynistic colleagues do not respect her and frequently take her leads, losing her commission. She is trying her hardest to navigate being a single parent to a teenage girl and it has all been getting a bit much lately. Her lovely friend group decide to cheer Rowan up in the build up to Christmas and start sending a series of gifts, excursions, and surprises to revive her Christmas spirit. Meanwhile, the delivery driver, Alex, who makes the daily trips with her latest presents is one of the things making her smile.
This was a sweet, festive read with all the loose ends tied up nicely at the end.

Sophie Ranald's "Santa, Please Bring Me a Boyfriend" is a delightful romantic comedy that brings a fresh spin to holiday love stories. Protagonist Holly's witty humour and relatable dating misadventures make for an engaging read. Set against a festive backdrop, the tale unfolds with heart warming moments and unexpected twists, capturing the essence of the season. Ranald effortlessly blends laughter, longing, and the search for love in a feel-good package. With charming characters and a touch of holiday magic, this novel is a cheerful reminder that sometimes the best gifts come in the form of unexpected surprises.

This book was just brilliant. Heartwarming, cosy Christmas vibes but focused around strong women. I loved that this book focused on the relationship with Rowan’s daughter as well as Alex. It was refreshing to see sexism in the workplace addressed as well as single parenting. I have already bought this authors back catalogue as a result of reading this book. Thanks netgalley

Santa, Please Bring Me a Boyfriend is a heartwarming and romantic comedy which will light up your heart, especially at Christmas but it’s a good read for every time you want to feel the spark of Christmas.

Since her husband left her, Rowan has too much to do with work and her teenage daughter to go looking for a suitable boyfriend or even think about Christmas shopping or advent calenders. But her friends have her back and arrange a posh advent calender with all the things she wouldn’t be able to buy herself. As excited she is about the presents, she’s much more excited about the guy who brings them, Alex. Soon she’s not just waiting for the next present to unwrap but for a chance to talk with Alex and maybe even more?

I needed a moment to get into the story and get to know Rowan which is much older than me (I’m 21), but when the story really started and we get to meet Alex the delivery guy I got addicted to this really cute story. It’s not that deep, but it’s funny, it made me feel-good and what’s most important for me, it made me root for Rowan and Alex and I couldn’t wait for them to get together.

I’m sure that I’m gonna read it once more when I’m a little older and maybe I can identify myself a little better with Rowan then. But for now it’s a feel-good romantic comedy playing in London with a nice British humour.

This had all the right elements of a Christmas romance, fun, friends and enough plot twists to keep the reader interested. Plus really well written characters, even the cat!

I loved the friendships in this book more than the actual romance. It was a very engaging, quick read, and I would absolutely read more from this author based on the female friendships in this story alone.

Thank you to Netgalley for a free copy in exchange for a fair review.

I love Sophie’s books and this was no different. A wonderfully festive read, lighthearted and easy to read.

It was a sweet story and I connected to Rowan and rooted for her from the start. It was relatable as the friend in a difficult situation and having the friendship group rally around her to help make a difficult time easier. Whether it is Rowan or one of her friends there’s someone to connect to. Meeting up with friends for a festive catch up and waiting for the delivery driver to knock is what we all do at this time of year but it was lovely to disconnect from that reality and live through Rowans. It also made me laugh which I always do with Sophie’s stories!

The relationship between Rowan and her teenager made me reminisce about my own teenage years and what I was like. There’s a character for everyone and all the festivities that are included it’s enough to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The story was written really well and made me curl up with chocolate and enjoy the festivities without having to go out in the cold! The story just had the magic touch, I loved it!

If Sophie is the author you will never be disappointed she is 100% one of my favourite authors now! I definitely recommend this festive treat!

A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.

Santa, Please Bring me a Boyfriend for Christmas by Sophie Ranald

I loved “Santa, Please Bring Me a Boyfriend for Christmas,” however, I have one recommendation—change the title. This book is so much more than the search for a love interest. It’s about the strongest and most supportive group of female friendship that I have ever read about. So, if it was up to me, this book would definitely get a title change, STAT.

Rowan, the main character, has one main thing on her Christmas list—a boyfriend for Christmas. She is newly divorced with a teenage daughter at home, and less than lucrative job as a real estate agent.

Set in London, this book is filled with descriptive and fun adventures throughout the city. But the main story line, in my opinion, was the support from Rowan’s cast of friends. After noticing she was extremely down at one of their girls’ luncheons at the start of the season, the group decides to do something to cheer up their friend and get her feeling a little more festive. Due to her lack of funds from her less than stellar job, Rowan is finding it difficult to enjoy this holiday season. Her friends arrange a fancy advent calendar filled with treats that her and her daughter look forward to discovering every day.

But, that’s not all. This advent calendar arrives with a surprise, and I don’t just mean the hot delivery guy Rowan looks forward to interacting with daily. This group of friends has removed the surprises from the box and has set them to arrive daily—knowing their friend would not have the patience to open one each day. But, they’ve also thrown in a few surprises of their own—tasks, surprise guests, and memorable gifts that will have Rowan remembering who she once was before she became a mom and a divorcee, and reminding her of the confident, sexy, and successful woman she once was.

As Rowan gets to know her adorable delivery guy, she also gets to know herself. Will Rowan get to unwrap more than just her advent calendar treats come Christmas morning?

This story not only dives into the importance of having a support group around you, but also the challenges in co-parenting, and raising a teen as a single mom, plus the difficulties in succeeding at work in a male-dominated office. Throw in there an ex-husband who was once also her secret “friend with benefits” long after their divorce, and this novel has all the sex-appeal you need to keep you cheering for love.

Will this be the Christmas Rowan’s wishes come true?

This is a holiday book you can enjoy all year round.
