The first book in a new series by Michelle Vernal and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Shannon is heading back to her home village of Emerald Bay, just in time for Christmas, after a traumatic break-up and having to leave an apartment she can no longer afford.

James is a visitor to Emerald Bay, but why is he so far from home, a few days from Christmas, and just what is his link to the village?

Family, friends, a cosy pub and your Nan’s cooking. What more could any girl need? I also wanted to sit around the family kitchen table, eating hot pot and soda bread slathered in butter, with the snow falling softly outside with my fluffy Persian cat on my lap!

If you enjoy a cute, Christmassy romance, then go and grab yourself a copy of Christmas in the Little Irish Village and settle yourself by the fire with a glass of mulled wine.

I am lucky enough to be a part of Books on Tour for this book, so thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of Christmas in the Little Irish Village.

This is the first book by Michelle Vernal I’ve read and I enjoyed it. Set in a little village in Ireland it was full of Christmas cheer.
Shannon has recently split up with her boyfriend and is moving back home to live with her parents in their pub
The Shamrock Inn. As she returns home so does her sisters to spend Christmas with the family.
When she visits her friend Maeve on her way home she tells her she is having a surprise guest for Christmas, who will it be and what will it mean for Shannon.
Following the typical banter between sisters I laughed and enjoyed the Christmas spirit.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book

Such a heartwarming, lovely Christmas story. Of love and romance. In an absolutely stunning setting, with wonderful characters and a storyline that is jam packed full of Christmas joy and spirit.

This is by far one of my favorite books I've read this year. From the detailed descriptions of the scenery of the village to the interactions of the characters, I loved every minute spent in this tiny village. I laughed out loud so many times!! I highly recommend this story!!

Shannon is moving back to her hometown after her boyfriend leaves her. Her parents own a pub in the rural Irish village. She encounters James, an American. She is attracted to him, but doesn't want another relationship yet. Plus, he's just visiting until after Christmas....

James is researching his family, who happens to be a dear older lady named Maeve. Shannon is skeptical of his motives as rumor has it Maeve is wealthy.

This has all of the Christmas feels and then some. Just adored this story!

I was really hoping for more out of this one. For years Bookouture has been my go-to for fluffy holiday Hallmark movie reads. This one, however, just dragged and dragged and tended to be far more descriptive than necessary. 15 words to describe something that could easily have been done with 3. To make matters worse, I didn't click with Shannon at all. I probably would have been more forgiving for the wordiness if I felt something other than disdain for the girl. She's pretty much awful ... and so is her stupid cat. It may have gotten better and she may have found a redeeming quality, but at 40% I really stopped caring ... and stopped reading.

I was enjoying this sweet holiday book until we met the character of the handsy, disgusting bar patron that the whole village knows gropes women, yet everyone tolerates.

Please, do better.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.

I absolutely ate up this story about Shannon and the rest of the Kelly family. It was sweet, heartwarming, and picturesque.

After Shannon experiences a breakup with her French boyfriend Julien, she heads back home to live with her family. However, everything changes when she falls into an American who is staying at her parents inn.

Definitely a sweet story for anyone who loves Christmas and love stories.

I had so much hope for this book. It seemed like such a sweet, Hallmark-esque story set in the lovely Ireland. And this book did have its charm with the setting and Christmas theme. There were some heartwarming family moments between Maeve and James. I also always love when pets play a significant part in books, so Napoleon was a welcome addition.

However, generally speaking, this book was very disappointing. The pace was so, so slow. I cannot emphasize enough just how slow this book was. The main characters didn’t even really meet until about a quarter of the way through the book, and their relationship was the absolute epitome of slow burn. We didn’t get to enjoy any time of seeing them as a couple. This could’ve been solved with an epilogue, but sadly, one was not included. I also grew tired of how often Shannon, the heroine, mentioned her ex-boyfriend. Additionally, there wasn’t much of a plot beyond the romance, so there was nothing else to keep the reader’s attention while waiting for the romance to develop.

Overall, this book did not live up to the expectations I had based on the beautiful book cover and intriguing synopsis. I do not recommend it.

I love a Christmas romcom, set it in Ireland and you know you are onto a winner.
The characters speech was so filled with Irish nuances I could hear them chatting as if I was in the room with them.
What a heartbreaking history for Maeve and really brave of the author to have this topic in this book.
I loved the Kelly family, they all had such warmth.
I was a little disappointed in the ending, until I discovered this is only book 1 in a series, phew! I needed to know what was going to happen next.
A really enjoyable read, perfect to curl up and get cosy with!

Eine ziemlich vorhersehbare Liebesgeschichte. Die Idee mit dem "Weihnachtsdorf"- ist aber recht gelungen. Ein perfekter kitschiger "Weihnachtsroman" für die Adventszeit.

I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book via NetGalley. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is my honest review.

I really tried to enjoy this book as the synopsis sounded interesting. Unfortunately, I was over 25% of the way through and not a lot had happened. The writing was too heavy on the detail and it was like every person the FMC met wanted a in depth, life story discussions.

I want to say thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

A little Irish Village, Christmas and that fairytale scene of white Christmas's is what made me want to read this book. A story of family, breakups, starting over and living in a small Irish village is what this book is all about.

It is a book that is quite easy to read, is pretty light-hearted yet has a story to tell, it has some humour and fun. I enjoyed the interactions between the family members and all the locals who frequented the pub. It is a a book you can enjoy and be entertained by without feeling exhausted when you are done.

I loved the characters, the way Shannon was always looking after others and how everyone fit into the story. I have not read anything by this author but will have to see what other books she has written.

A woman heads back home after her relationship end. As she walks around her quant Irish village, she literally falls in the arms of an American who is staying in the village.

I really wanted to like this book. I love Christmas romances. However, this book went too deep into descriptions of everything. The main character talked to everyone about everything. I knew every time her cat threw up or had digestive issues because of tuna. I just didn’t feel the story was moving along and by the time she fell into the stranger’s arms and then took forever to talk about it, I was done.

I hate not finishing books, but this one was not for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I did like reading Christmas in the Little Irish Village; you can’t get better than an Irish Christmas! I liked the characters in the story but I felt the romance between the two main characters felt a little flat, not quite what I wanted, but I did get invested in the story. I felt happy and sad and very festive as I followed the different storylines and I would recommend it, especially just before Christmas while drinking a hot chocolate!

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!!

I enjoy Christmas books at any time of the year! This book definitely gave me all the Christmas feels. It got me right in the Christmas spirit, even though it’s only October.

I loved the setting of a small Irish town! The way the town was described was very cozy. The book was just a fun book in general. The sibling dynamic was hilarious and I also enjoyed the overall family dynamic.

The pacing did feel off and rushed. The author over explained random details and completely glossed over important plot points. We would get a couple paragraphs describing some random old lady with no relevance and then a few sentences about a pivotal plot point.

I also wish James was more developed. Every other character got so much background and personality while James felt like a cardboard cut out.

Overall, I had fun reading the book on a surface level, but it just wasn’t the best writing in the world.

So traveling on a plane and reading a this book. What could go wrong? Very nearly had a toilet accident and an asthma attack induced by laughing so much. The passengers around me asked me what the book was called. Michelle Vernal I could have sworn you were Irish. You could have been writing about any one of my numerous cousins in Galway. Thank you so much for a fabulous book. Off to leave my review - read with caution, incontinent pants required, asthma inhaler also suggested!!

The story centres on a family with four daughters - the poor father! It is full of Christmas cheer as only the Irish can do it, lots of lovely friendship and bitchy backstabbing. I swear it transported me back to the village I grew up on, walking down the street chatting with all sorts, avoiding others and hitting the Christmas trees as I went. I loved it.

A cute Christmas read about a close knit community., the village pub where anyone on their own at Christmas could enjoy a Christmas Day meal and a family secret. I loved Maeve and Kitty but didn’t really like the main character, Shannon. The village setting sounded idyllic especially the singing round the Christmas tree. I thought the second half of the book was more interesting than the first half

Just finished this. Couldn’t resist starting the Christmas books. This one is out on 14th October and is a lovely little read, I wasn’t particularly fussed for the main character but enjoyed the overall story. Lots of characters to explore as part of a series, I’m hoping not just the sisters though - that would be too much of a rip off of Marian Keyes.
