I really enjoyed this one! A gothic fantasy reimagining of the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It also gave me major Witcher vibes, which I'm not made about. Definitely read this one if you are interested in dark fantasy with lots of mythology and dual POV! I really loved the side character named Haldis. She was such a good addition to the other character's development.

"There is no escape when the monster is you." this was the line that was convinced me to read this. I'm glad I was able to read this, it exceeded what I wanted and was a great read to boot. It was a great start to the series and I enjoyed that it was so well written. The characters were what I was hoping for and was glad they were so well written. It left me excited to read where this series will go.

“I just wonder, if trees are cut down from the forest every day, why isn’t the field surrounding your town bigger? With all the cutting over the years, I would think that the wood would begin to thin slightly, and your town could grow larger, spread out more.”
