My son Clark and I live in a beautiful cabin outside a rural town, somewhere nobody will find us. I could not have found a more perfect place to start over, shielded by the trees and far away from prying eyes. But when I find a newspaper clipping on my porch, it drives fear into my bones. Widow wanted for murder screams the headline. And that’s my face in the picture, circled with red marker. I look out into the forest, but I can’t see anyone. How did they find me? And what do they want?
I don’t know where to run next, or how to make sure my son is safe. And deep down I know the only way I can finally be free is to find out what really happened that night a year ago, when my dear husband Brett died.
I’m sure I didn’t kill him… did I? But that night is a blur, and as I try to prove my innocence, the dark secrets I uncover force me to question everything I believed. The people I trusted most are not who I thought they were. And the person who is coming for me is very close to home…
Really enjoyed this book totally recommend

This was a dnf for me. Too fatalistic. It may very well have turned out to be good, but at 30% in and still with the doom and gloom and it was too much for me.

I just love books from this author, domestic thrillers at their best and her writing style is just my cup of tea, I know I am going to be hooked from the beginning. This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end and what an ending it was wham I would never have guessed.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this brilliant ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending. A well deserved 5+ stars from me.

L.G. Davis, you sure know how to get readers’ attention!

I felt like a frog in a pot of boiling water; I didn’t know I was hooked until I tried to put it down to make dinner and ….we ate later than usual!

The recipe for this thriller has all the right ingredients, told in the right order with lots of twists, and is gasp-worthy right to the very end. The use of present tense captured my attention and held it because I felt like I was part of the action. The inclusion of a taboo subject was risky but written so incredibly well, it was in my thoughts for days. What would I do in this same situation?

At the center of this novel is ‘loss of control’ and L.G. Davis has a tight reign on it, making it a brilliant, albeit a nail-biting and heart-pounding, read.

Another win for Davis! If you haven’t read any of this author’s books, what are you waiting for?

I was gifted this advance copy by Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

🪝 This was just brilliant! I could not put this one down and read it in a day! I was gripped from the first page.

🪦The book is about a widow who is on the run with her son, suspected of killing her husband. The plot is fantastic and works really well. I have not read any similar stories, so loved reading something different.

🌪️The ending brought everything together with a nice little twist. There was an extra ps. bit on the end that I was not a huge fan of - it was a good one liner to end on, but there is no need for a sequel as it is all tied up nicely, and this one line does make you want a sequel. There is scope for one I suppose, so perhaps that is the intention?

💉 I am left with only one question, what happened to the needle?! (If I somehow missed it and you read this, let me know!)

💯 Buy this book! And luckily, you don’t have long to wait!

Amuk, Amuk, Amuk! 😳😯🤯😳😳

Spooks and Freights! Geez almighty was this intensely crazy & freakishly good! I mean I'm literally shocked with the absolute master of twins and turns Davis delivers in this! It's spine-tingling, mind warping & absolutely nail-biting with how one turn after another is like a smacked cold fish in your face. The ending was absolutely eye-popping and gasp worthy. I cannot believe how devious Davis is with her mind and writing and as always she never disappoints. A fast-paced, bone-chilling psychological thriller that will keep you up well into the night so you can get the answers. & that very, very end will leave you so shook, you could create a new dance! Absolutely genius.

Mყ 𝐒ყɴ𝐨ρѕιѕ: Meghan & her young son, Ashton, are on the run because the police and her husband's parents believe she killed her husband, Brett. It's been nearly a year and they've become Zoe & Clark in a small town. But there seems to be a new interest in the case and Zoe is terrified because she honestly can't remember if she killed her husband. As if that's not bad enough feeling she's going crazy, someone is catching on to who she really is and feeling like she's being watched relentlessly. Little does know she realize going to prison is the least of her worries.

Thank you to NetGalley & Bookouture for this ARC.

This was just the perfect domestic noir/ thriller for me!! It had so many twists and turns and my jaw literally dropped more than once. It has a good pace and nothing is predictable or blatantly obvious until the author wants to drop that bombshell n make you rething everything you thought you knew. The characters were well written and realistic and i just loved every second. This is definitely one for pouring a glass of wine, locking the door and just letting yourself get completely swept up!

While this author quickly became a go-to for me, I wasn't crazy about this one. I found it a little too out there and it seemed a little rushed. It could of been so much more than it was. Not all is lost though. The first few chapters were done very well and succeeded in pulling me within the first page. The author also managed to get me emotionally invested within the heartbreaking first pages. Fast forward to the ending and once again, this author manages to pull off those twists with a bang and leave you wondering what just happened? My faith is not lost and I stand by my word of this is an author to watch out for. Three Stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

Meghan has just lost her husband to cancer. Believing she is going to be blamed for her husband’s death she takes her son Ashton and runs. After all her in laws are powerful people and are looking for someone to take the fall.
Setting up far away in a small town they begin their new lives. They are now Zoe and Clark. Zoe is constantly looking over her shoulder, constantly afraid. Then strange things start happening. Have they been rumbled.
I stayed up late into the night to finish this book. Lots of twists were thrown in with many you just wouldn’t see coming. I hope the ending gives rise to another book.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an arc.

The Missing Widow, by L. G. Davis

Wow! Another hit by L. G. Davis! The author can always be counted on for a psychological thriller at its finest. I was hooked from the first chapter of this exciting book.

Synopsis:
Meghan and her young son Clark are on the run after she is accused of murdering her husband Brett. Brett and Meghan had been married for five years when Brett died. Someone is trying to frame her for the murder, but who is it? Will Meghan be able to save her son Clark from the killer?

This is my second book by Davis. Both novels have been mind-bending adventures that convinced me to read everything the author publishes. Once I started The Missing Widow, I could not put it down. The plot twists are shocking. I look forward to reading more books by this super talented author.

The Missing Widow by L. G. Davis is available on October 18th.
4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture, for sharing this outstanding book with me. It is a wonderful must-read!

Give L.G Davis a series on Netflix pronto.
This is the second book I've read by this author and I feel like this ending was better than the last by far.
Meghan is happily married to a wealthy and charming man. Just three months into their relationship, he proposes to her even though his family won't accept Meghan.
Five years and a beautiful son later, this couple is going through the worst moment: Brett has a terrible cancer and refuses to receive treatment.
He has a plan: his wife helps him die.
Meghan does not agree, but when Brett gets worse, she gives in. She looks for a syringe, and when she is about to do it, she regrets it.
Meghan leaves their home, but her husband was alive and suffering. Hours later she returns to his room to find him dead.
There begins the escape of this widow, she runs away with her son and start a life with different names, but always isolated.
L.G. Davis knows perfectly how to keep her readers' attention and the tension of the story.
Once I got to chapter five, it was impossible to tear myself away from my Kindle, and even when the author presents us with the opportunity to discover a horrible secret of Meghan's, I stopped reading, but within minutes I was back.
Three things I like about this book
Present tense narrative
It is the secret to involve the reader in what happens, chapter after chapter. We feel part of the widow's escape and everything she goes through.
Tension
From the first chapters to the end, tension, emotion and fear are present in this story.
The ending
Impressive, explosive and not at all expected.

Bottom line? The Missing Widow is one of the best book I read this 2022. Go for your copy, you won’t regret it.

This book has twists and turns that are unbelievable…a widow, her son, her husband’s death…how did he die? Is she guilty? Others think so…red herrings abound…the deceased husband has secrets of his own…family deceit…horrendous acts…this book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. At times, I coul not believe what I was reading…this is a cannot put down book. Innovative..surprises throughout…the ending not easily guessed. This is a talented author at weaving a story that is fiction but could be real…this book would make an excellent television series…

#TheMissingWidow #NetGalley
A terrific novel.
Although it has many glimpses of The Perfect Widow by Alice Castle, it was a bit different read than i expected it to be.
A widow is on the run and if she's innocent then why she's running? And if she's running then is she really innocent? Or guilty?
I'm sorry I can't tell anything more about it. You've to read it to find out what happened to her. I can tell you only one thing. YOU'LL BE FLIES TO IT.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.
