Everything Sherry Thomas writes is amazing. That's all I can say. I'm not sure where she comes up with her twists and turns but I didn't guess the twist in this one either... I wasn't even close. I'm pretty sure I went through the whole cast!

Thank you for the early copy!

The latest installment in the Charlotte Holmes series does not disappoint. The restrictions of the ship-board mystery helped tighten Thomas's plotting, which can sometimes get unwieldy. The device of showing specific moments in time from a variety of perspectives worked very well. The characters continue to develop as the series progresses, which is always nice to see. Recommended for fans of the series as well as Holmesians and Sherlockians alike.

Each new release from Sherry Thomas goes straight to the top of my TBR pile!! Thomas’ plots rival Christie in their intricacies. It is so much fun to read a mystery and have to sort through all the clues to try and figure out which ones are relevant. You have trouble guessing who the culprit is but you can you back through the book and see the clues leading to the correct answer.

I haven’t even touched on my favorite thing about this series, the characters! Miss Charlotte and Livia Holmes, Mrs. Watson and Ash aka Lord Ingram. Fully fleshed out characterization that see each grow as individuals through each volume of the series. Their desires and goals change a they grow through various cases and life events. I was thrilled with the ending of Tempest at Sea, Livia took a big step to being free!

This is a must read series for all mystery lovers.

This latest installment of the Lady Sherlock series doesn't disappoint! The ship-bound setting worked very well (and is reminiscent of Agatha Christie), as does Charlotte and Mrs. Watson's alter-egos for the voyage. I am already looking forward to the next title in the series! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

I binge-read the first six books of the Lady Sherlock series after my friend MarilynW caught my attention with her excellent review of the first book, Study in Scarlet Women. After my first delightful romp through Victorian England with the charming and devious Charlotte Holmes, I was hooked. Real mysteries, full of action and suspense, with subtle humor, and just a touch of romance.
A Tempest at Sea finds Charlotte on a mission to find a dossier the crown is desperately seeking. Following her suspect, she disguises herself as an elderly lady and boards a ship along with her partner, Mrs. Watson. To her surprise, almost everyone Charlotte cares for is also on board. When a passenger is found brutally murdered, she has to find the real killer to clear her mother, the most obvious suspect. The fun part is she must do her investigations while keeping her old lady persona so perfect, even her own mother and sister don't recognize her. This is book seven of the series and it won't be available until March 14, 2023. So you have plenty of time to read the first six Lady Sherlock mysteries. Highly recommended!

Another fabulous addition to the Lady Sherlock oeuvre! This iteration provided us with the classic closed cast of characters for our murder investigation, a delightful disguise for Charlotte, and a satisfying conclusion for all. Highly recommend this delightful series! Happy to say that this newest addition to the series is just as good as it’s predecessors.
